When it comes to this time of the year, it’s totally normal for skin to seem seriously dull. In fact, beyond looking a little lacklustre, it could possibly be feeling tight, dry and sore. If there’s one thing that the beauty world is certain of, it’s that cold weather is rarely good news for your complexion. And don’t I know it. Despite the fact the summer months had my skin radiating an out-of-this-world glow, the start of winter had me sporting a drab, lacklustre and seriously distressed face.

At the start of the season, as I emptied out the contents of my makeup bag in the search for any kind of illuminating product to pour over my face/bathe in, I couldn’t help but wonder if my skin would ever get its glow back. Sure, I could slather my cheekbones in my favourite Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Illuminizer (£22) and mix as much Shiseido Synchro Skin Illuminator (£33) into my foundation as is humanly possible in order to create a believable faux radiance, but deep down I knew that my skin was suffering. But that was then, before I discovered the multitasking wonder balm that the celebs swear by to keep glowing throughout the seasons.

That’s right—there’s one product, in particular, that some of the most glowing celebrities can’t get enough of. From Beyoncé to Charlize Theron and even the makeup artist behind Meghan Markle’s wedding day beauty look, the Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm (£9) is a skincare favourite amongst the A-list, and for good reason.

No, you might not immediately associate a cheap skin balm with Hollywood royalty, but it turns out this super-affordable product works wonders at giving skin a lit-from-within radiance. Originally formulated to provide a protective barrier over dry, cracked skin, more recently, the super hydrating balm, which contains hydrating glycerine and repairing panthenol, has been repurposed for a number of beauty tasks. Whether you’ve got dry hands, eczema or you simply want to get your winter glow back, this little tube might just hold the answer.

You might expect Beyoncé’s favourite skincare products to cost a pretty penny, but luckily, it’s not all gold serums and diamond-infused face creams. In an interview with Elle, the singer admitted that she slathers her face with Aquaphor every evening. She even said, “I go to bed looking totally greasy.”

On her wedding day, Meghan enlisted the help of makeup artist Daniel Martin to execute her beauty look. An unlikely hero, Daniel revealed in an interview with E! Online that Aquaphor played an important role in giving Meghan her big day glow. He revealed: “Before highlighters, you would do highlighting with Aquaphor. Aquaphor will give you that same texture, especially in a photo [when applied] on the high points of the face.”

Talking to InStyle, Charlize Theron admitted that she uses Aquaphor on the whole family, saying, “The doctor recommended this for Jackson. When I started using it on him, I realised it’s one of the best hand creams ever. Great on lips too.”

Talking to The Strategist, Lucy Liu revealed that Aquaphor is one of her can’t-live-without products. “I call it Aqua-for-everything. You can put some on your face during the winter or on your chapped lips at any time. It’s nice for a baby’s bottom if you’re a parent or on cuts and bruises to help heal. For glam, we use it in the makeup bag to help moisturise,” she said.

While Nicole Kidman does rely on some seriously luxurious brands to keep her skin in check, that’s not to say she doesn’t appreciate a bargain too. Talking to Allure, she revealed, “La Mer Crème is my go-to, but I also love Aquaphor. It costs nothing and it’s amazing for dry skin, which I have. I put it on my face and it’s very, very good.”
