Since we’d heard so many people, both in and out of the fashion industry, raving about M&S denim, I was recently set the task of trying on some of their bestselling pairs to find out what all the fuss was about. And let me tell you, I was seriously impressed with what I discovered. I’ll admit, I’d never actually tried M&S jeans on before, mostly because I didn’t think they’d fit my 5’2” frame, but also because I’m admittedly a bit of a snob when it comes to high street jeans, having had far too many bad experiences of sagging bums and worn out knees in the past.

I’m sure you can imagine I was more than pleasantly surprised to come across a number of pairs that not only fit but looked so good on. As well as being an affordable way to update your denim collection, I was really impressed that M&S offer three different leg lengths— short, regular and tall— so I was able to opt for the petite option which hit at the ankle perfectly. Particular highlights included the flattering new wide-legs and the oh-so-comfy mom jeans, but there was one style that took the crown as the best pair of jeans I’d tried on in a while— these high-waisted straight leg jeans.

Honestly, if they hadn’t had any labels in, I would have believed they were designer. The visible buttons and washed out look makes them feel like a really good pair of vintage Levi’s, but they have the M&S comfort factor too. Of course, after trying them for research purposes I was sure to buy my own pair (as did most of the WWWUK team) and since then I’ve barely taken them off. They come in three different washes and all look great with a classic trainer, chunky boot, loafers and even heels— with a white-T-shirt and blazer or some classic stripes on top. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one to cotton on to how great this style was and they sold out almost instantly a few weeks ago. Luckily, though, they’ve just been restocked online so move fast if you’re after a pair too! Size wise, my advice would be to take the size down from your usual, especially if you’re pear shaped and want them to sit close to the waist.
