We hate to brag, but we do think that Who What Wear’s editorial team has rather exceptional taste. Biased? Us? Never. But really, it’s our job to be on top of these things and pinpoint the items that we think are actually worth the investment of your hard-earned cash. With the new season about to kick in, we felt it was time to share the high-street wish lists that we’ve been carefully compiling over the last month or two.

There is a certain art to shopping the high street, and we’ve found that the dictum “patience is a virtue” is a helpful approach in this context. It’s all about utilising the bookmark or “like” feature, which allows you to add something to a wish list that you can then peruse at your leisure. Trust us. Sometimes, time and distance can be key to not making a rushed, badly judged purchase and instead nabbing that time-tested wardrobe hero.

All of the below items are pieces our editors have personally vetted through this process, and we can confirm they all passed with flying colours. We love that each of our editors has their own unique aesthetic, from Hannah’s penchant for a pop of red to Maxine’s inclination towards a ruffled collar. We have no doubt that there’ll be an item that aligns with your own style. So if you fancy finding out the high-street buys we’re coveting this season, simply scroll on down.

“After what feels like a lifetime in stretchy clothes, I’m ready for all the tailoring.”

“Sunglasses are a year-round staple for me.”

“I’ll be making a beeline for bright suits that I can wear for work, to weddings and even off-duty with trainers.”

“The only shoes I’m looking for right now are platforms!”

“High-waisted, straight-cut and long in the leg—I think I’ve found my fave new pair of jeans thanks to Weekday.”

“I love a statement base layer to add interest to spring basics.”

“A leather jacket is the wardrobe staple that never gets old (or, you know, just looks better if it does).”

“I’m always drawn to expensive-looking classics on the high street, and when I saw this perfect trench from H&M recently, I couldn’t believe how affordable it was.”

“After the sell-out success of the black version of this bag, I’m going to be moving quickly on this beautiful tan iteration.”

“I’m a huge fan of wide-leg trousers, and for spring, I’m thinking of switching it up with this cargo version. It’s a very 2022 trend, so I think they’ll be perfect for wearing over fashion month and beyond.”

“A shacket is such a useful spring piece, and this leather version from M&S feels so elevated. I’ll wear it over a T-shirt and jeans for an easy but chic everyday look.”

“I’m always drawn to the colour orange.”

“I foresee myself living in these in the very near future. They’re the ideal work-from-home shoes, combining style and comfort for those days I decide to go for a walk during my lunch break.”

“Not to be dramatic, but it was love at first sight when I saw this dress. The colours, the pattern, that back?! Give it to me now.”

“I really don’t need another blazer, but I can already think of so many ways I’d wear this oversized style.”

“This will become such a staple in my wardrobe. I’ll wear it with a plain white T-shirt and, most likely, the blazer above.”

“I’ve had this dress on my wish list for the longest time. This spring, I’m going to finally invest in it.”

“I have a serious white-blouse addiction, and I’m finding it incredibly hard to resist this cute style with a scalloped collar, broderie cuffs, and a tie neckline."
