There’s something undeniably luxurious about having a spin bike parked in your living room—or, for some, squeezed into the corner of your bedroom. No commute to the gym, no fighting for a spot in a sweaty spin class, no excuse not to move your body. It’s convenience at its finest, and when it comes to health perks, the benefits are almost too good to list: low-impact cardio that’s easy on your joints, improved heart health, boosted endurance, and a solid way to shake off the stress of a long day.
As someone who wants all those things, I jumped at the chance to test Aviron’s new stationary bike: the Aviron Fit Bike ($2,399). After testing (and loving) the brand’s Strong Series rowing machine a few years ago, I was eager to give the bike a spin… pun intended. From set-up to first ride, keep reading for my full review of the Aviron Fit Bike.
About the Aviron Fit Bike
The Aviron Fit Bike is a sleek, high-tech spin bike designed to make home workouts more entertaining and engaging. Aviron’s whole schtick is the gamification of working out; the same challenges and gameplay used to make its flagship rowing series more fun are carried over into the new bike.
Each bike comes equipped with a 21.5-inch HD touchscreen, built-in speakers, and adjustable resistance levels to suit everyone from beginners to serious cyclists. An Aviron membership (either $288/year or $29/month) unlocks thousands of classes, such as pre-filmed instructor-led rides, scenic routes, and even competitive challenges where you can race against other users or AI opponents. You can also stream your favorite music and shows directly from the screen, plus enjoy unlimited profiles, the ability to add and follow friends, use the metrics monitor, and access the MyAviron companion app without a subscription.
The Aviron Fit Bike uses electromagnetic resistance, which offers smoother transitions and a virtually silent ride compared to traditional friction-based resistance systems. This advanced technology also provides instant adjustments, eliminating the hassle of manual knobs during workouts.
Setting it up
The Aviron Fit Bike comes pre-assembled, which is a relief for those who dread putting together furniture. Just know where you want to set it up, as the bike is heavy, weighing in at 138 pounds. Although it has built-in wheels for maneuverability, moving it can still require assistance.
Aviron Fit Bike review: My honest thoughts
What I love
It’s incredibly entertaining: The bike has built-in gaming features that make exercising enjoyable. You can play fun, interactive games while pedaling, turning workouts into a competition that keeps you motivated and engaged.
Its feel: The electromagnetic resistance works seamlessly, allowing for smooth and quick adjustments without any lag, enhancing the overall riding experience.
Its metrics: The bike meticulously tracks performance metrics and offers detailed workout history, which is incredibly motivating. You earn badges for completing milestones, another fun way to encourage continued use.
Its small size: The Aviron Fit Bike has a compact footprint, measuring just 3.5 feet long and 2 feet wide, making it well-suited for small spaces without compromising on style.
What I don’t love
Adjusting the seat/handlebars: Adjustments can be cumbersome, as the knobs may feel stiff and require effort to secure properly.
Its weight: Although the built-in wheels help, the weight of the bike can make relocation a two-person job.
The subscription requirement: While access to extensive content is fantastic, the additional subscription fee can feel like an extra burden on top of the initial purchase price.
Final thoughts
With its gamified workouts and engaging features, the Aviron Fit Bike stands out as a premium exercise option. While it does have some quirks, it might be precisely what you need if traditional workouts tend to feel monotonous. It’s a worthy investment for those seeking a more enjoyable approach to fitness, provided you’re prepared with the necessary space and budget.
