9 Brands Fashion People Are Really Into Right Now

August 13, 2021 at 06:23AM It’s easy to become devoted to specific brands. Especially when much of your shopping takes place online, finding those high-quality labels that you know fit you well makes it easy to build loyalty. Sometimes, it can feel like too much hassle to try something new when there’s a lengthy return process lingering over your head. However, by sticking to the same brands day in and day out, you could be (read: absolutely are) missing out on some genuinely great opportunities. So if you’re keen to shake up your shopping habits, look no further. This summer, we’ve noticed that nine brands seem to be dominating the fashion sphere, and while you’ve likely heard of some of them, we have a hunch that they don’t feature heavily in your current wardrobe rotation. On paper, these brands couldn’t be more different. For example, there's Australian export Oroton, which specialises in…

Thinking About Getting Braids? These Are the Products You Need in Your Routine

August 13, 2021 at 06:00AM In many ways, braids are the perfect go-to protective hairstyle. They are always in style, they're easy to maintain, and they give you a good break from styling your hair daily, which in turn minimises potential damage. However, if you’re new to braids, then it’s worth noting that there are a few key products and hair practices that will keep your braids looking fresh and your scalp feeling healthy until it’s time to remove your chosen style. The first time I got braids, I scoured the internet for information on maintaining them and was met with a mountain of conflicting advice. From rinsing your braiding hair with apple cider vinegar to using tea tree oil for your scalp health, there’s a plethora of tips out there. However, it took a few rounds of having my own braids to work out…

The 3 Boot Trends That Have Taken Over 2021

August 13, 2021 at 06:00AM Boots have become one of those items that are pretty much seasonless. True, sturdier and waterproof versions become very useful in the winter, but this type of shoe still has its place in the summer, too. This is why you’ll forgive us for talking about boot trends in the middle of 2021 before we’ve even hit autumn. After considering trends from the spring/summer 2021 collections and the autumn/winter 2021 shows, you can see there are some key looks that are going to be around for the rest of the summer and for winter. Below, there are three key looks we’ve identified from the whole year, which we’ve worn and will continue to wear for all of 2021. While there isn’t anything totally groundbreaking, what we like is that there are more joyful styles as well as boots that are wardrobe classics. Hands Down, These Are the Best-Ever Sex and the City Outfits

August 13, 2021 at 06:00AM If I were to try my hand at analysing the reasons why Sex and the City still holds so much sway over our wardrobes, I’d say it’s because, thanks to Patricia Field’s genius styling, the outfits remain incredibly relevant. No matter how long ago the show started and ended, there are plenty of great looks that hold up today. As a huge fan of the show, I still remember some of the best looks from the six seasons. That’s how groundbreaking I found the fashion. While I loved all the characters, it was Carrie’s fashion-forward style that influenced my teenage and early-20s wardrobe. From trying to hunt down my own name necklace to being persuaded to wear a bum bag, Carrie’s style continues to help me be more adventurous with my own wardrobe. But it’s not just about Carrie. Charlotte’s…

So Many Editors Want This Expensive-Looking High-Street Jacket

August 13, 2021 at 06:00AM If there was a prize for the jacket trend that has been given the most airtime over the last two years, it would have to be the blazer. As someone who has around five currently sitting in my wardrobe, I can attest to its versatility, timelessness and ease to style. With its boxy fit and premium-feel fabric, my Arket wool blazer is a personal highlight, and it seems as though I am not alone in my love for this particular piece as I’ve spotted it on countless fashionable faces on Instagram.Coming in three cool colourways—black, navy and beige—this blazer has certainly earned its reputation for being a classic wardrobe staple. A popular styling hack is to add it to jeans and a tee, but I have also seen it worn with colour-match trousers for a polished suit finish. Mine is an old grey version from a few…

Whistles Just Recreated Rachel Green’s Iconic Mint Dress—And I’m Obsessed

August 12, 2021 at 12:27PM Call me a millennial cliche, but I’ve been a Friends fan for just about as long as I can remember. I’ve watched Ross and Rachel break up and make up and break up again, and hummed along to Phoebe’s Smelly Cat more times than anyone should. I don’t consider myself an expert on many things in life, but when it comes to Friends (and of course fashion) I can confidently say, I know my stuff. So you can only imagine the sheer delight I experience when those two subjects collide. And this week has provided a moment of exactly that. Those who have seen the series umpteen times, like me, will remember “The One Where No One’s Ready.” And those who are fashion inclined will recall in particular the stunning mint green dress Rachel wears in the episode. It is a…

25 Stunning Haircuts Celebs in Their 50s Always Ask For

August 12, 2021 at 08:00AM We’ve encountered enough badass women in their 40s, 50, 60s, and beyond to know that there are tons of outdated clichĂ©s about aging. Gone are the days where women are pressured to dress a certain way the second we hit age 40 or stop wearing our favorite makeup. (Although, there are formulas that work better for mature skin.) The general attitude around aging has seen a major shift for the better in recent years, and there’s a sense of liberation that’s come along with it that we absolutely love. While the number of years we’ve been on this earth doesn’t have to control our lives, there are, indeed, some unavoidable shifts that come up the further along we get, including changes to our hair. For this reason, many women start to consider different haircuts by the time we hit age 50.“The hair sometimes tends to…

Well Done, H&M—I Want Everything From Your Latest Drop

August 12, 2021 at 08:00AM I love a good bit of minimalism in the summer. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not averse to bright colours, but there’s something so chic about wearing muted tones in the heat. This year, as I won’t be heading overseas or to anywhere that actually has hot weather (thanks, British summer), I want to pretend I’ll be on the beaches of Ibiza or the Cote d'Azur, and H&M’s latest summer collection is going to help me do just that. Full of floaty dresses and loose-fitting tops, I plan on wearing these items from now until September. But I’m not a total lunatic, so I’m also eyeing up the slub-knit tops and the chic tailored blazers because as AndrĂ© 3000 says, “You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can’t predict the weather.” For anyone who’s lost with their summer wardrobe, I…

Your Lingerie Is Over the Second You Do This

August 12, 2021 at 08:00AM Over the years, I’ve accumulated quite a nice collection of lingerie, had multiple bra fittings and received quotes from some of the biggest experts in the industry on the dos and don'ts of lingerie across the board. Most of these rules are easy enough to follow, except for one (at least for me). During my most recent lingerie fitting for a story I wrote on what it’s like to wear lingerie sets for a week straight, the saleswoman assisting me told me that if I’m not storing my lingerie properly, I’m basically killing it, not getting my money’s worth, and so on and so forth.Instantly I switched into panic mode as I realised all my lingerie was currently stuffed in my drawer along with the rest of my five-for-ÂŁ20 underwear and random assortment of sports bras. In other words,…
