I’ve Assembled 5 Expensive-Looking Outfits Entirely From H&M

September 06, 2021 at 08:00AM As a fashion editor, I always get questions about the secret to a well-assembled wardrobe, to which I have the same answer: versatility. Ideally, your wardrobe should include some premium pieces mixed among more affordable items, with a dose of vintage and second-hand for good sartorial measure. It’s this eclectic mix of brands and price points that will ensure your clothing reflects your personality. As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life—and, naturally, you want your outfits to be spicy, too. That said, I understand the appeal of snapping up an entirely new outfit from just one store. First, it’s an effective use of your time, as it doesn’t involve having to traipse around every shop or browse every new-in section. Chances are it’ll also look seamlessly pulled together, as the brand’s honed aesthetic will be evident in every piece. While I…

27 Wardrobe Basics You Need in Your 30s, From Someone Who Knows

September 06, 2021 at 07:00AM I’m going to turn 37 at the end of the year, and while I have curated my wardrobe staples over the years, I think I've finally settled on a capsule of the below 27 items. Now, well into my 30s, I think it’s safe to say I’m happy with these pieces and I would never switch any of them out for anything else. Yes, newer additions come and go, but these are the ones I wear regularly. I’ve not included items like skirts or wedding guest dresses because as I’ve mentioned, this is about getting dressed daily, rather than for those special events. This list isn’t about items that are nice to have. This list isn’t about trends, either. This list is all about pieces that will last in your wardrobe, and whenever you wear them, they will make you feel good. I own all the…

Experts Tell Me These Are the Jewellery Trends to Invest in For 2022

September 06, 2021 at 07:00AM Is it crazy to start thinking about the next year? I don’t think so. I hate to break it to you but there are only 100 days until Christmas, which means there are only a few more days than that until 2022. Yes, I know. Anyway, the reason I’m writing about the coming new year is that I’m thinking about new trends and in particular jewellery trends for 2022. Ever since the pandemic started and we were hooked to our computers and Zoom meetings, various luxury outlets reported a rise in sales of jewellery but in particular fine jewellery that’s great for wearing everyday. The idea being that people wanted to elevate their more casual WFH looks with chic necklaces and earrings—the Zoom-friendly options. In 2021, however, Gen Z jewellery trends started to take off. A proliferation of plastic-y Y2K-inspired…

These Are the 15 Fragrances to Embrace This Autumn

September 06, 2021 at 06:30AM Don’t get me wrong. I am a summer baby through and through. I like the heat, I like floaty clothes, I like sun-kissed strands, I like freckled noses, and I really like the pared-backed beauty routine that so often comes with summer months. For the most part, I’m willing to say that I sort of loathe waving goodbye to summer.Except, that is, when it comes to my fragrance collection. It sounds like an odd thing to say, I know, but the one thing that gets me really excited for autumn is surrounding myself with the seasonal scents. I’m an inherently cosy (read: lazy) person, and something about being snuggled up warm inside, enveloped by creamy, spicy scents makes my typically sun-drenched heart feel a little bit giddy.Because for me, fragrance is life. I surround myself with scents everywhere I go,…

5 Autumn Boot Trends an Expert Thinks You Need to Know About

September 06, 2021 at 06:21AM I definitely subscribe to the notion that shopping is a form of therapy, as even window shopping puts me in a mediative state. Still, there are two items I find particularly stressful to browse for. Jeans being one of them. (Is it just me, or is it always an effort for you, too?) The other? Boots. As much as I love them, boots don’t seem to love me back. I’m petite in height (I hover around the 5'3" mark, but I swear I’ve started shrinking), hourglass-shaped and a size 12. This, however, seems to be an unfortunate combination when it comes to finding boots that suit and fit my frame, and I know I’m not the only one with this predicament. This is why I always stick to and actively seek out classic boot styles and trends that never date. So when…

30 Buys From Net-a-Porter, Matches and Vestiaire That Stopped Me in My Tracks

September 06, 2021 at 06:00AM Perhaps it’s just me, but there’s nothing I love more than scrolling through the new-in sections of Net-a-Porter and MatchesFashion. Packed full of all the biggest names on the fashion scene and their boundary-pushing designs, for any fashion lover, it’s like being the proverbial kid in a candy store (can we make fashion pick ‘n’ mix a thing, please?). Of course, as a secondhand style fanatic, Vestiaire Collective is very much on par with these e-commerce powerhouses, and at the start of every season, I love scrolling through and stumbling across my favourite designer brands at a fraction of the price. A little bit of high-street, a little high-end and a generous dose of secondhand. In fact, some of the most stylish women I know truly embrace a mix of all three. In the spirit of the new season, I decided to share with you…

From Jennifer Aniston to Selena Gomez, So Many Celebs Use This £11 Skincare Buy

September 06, 2021 at 06:00AM When it comes to celebrity beauty recommendations, they tend to fall into one of two camps: in-salon treatments and cosmetic procedures with the best names in the industry (which are totally out of the realm of possibility for most of us) or luxury skincare products with a three-figure price tag. So when I heard murmurings that a genuinely affordable beauty brand with legions of A-list devotees had just landed at Cult Beauty, I was instantly intrigued. After all, Jennifer Aniston and under-£11 skincare isn’t a combination that you come across often. The brand in question? Heritage Store. The brand offers a range of basic yet effective skincare products and actually started its life as a health food store way back in 1969. Cruelty-free, vegan and totally free of artificial dyes, preservatives and sulphates, Heritage Store bridges the gap between beauty and wellness to deliver multipurpose products that can be…

These 20 Chunky Boots Will All Go With Everything You Already Own

September 06, 2021 at 06:00AM It’s with great relief that I can report that many of 2020’s most practical trends have cemented themselves as mainstays in the wardrobes of the nation’s fashion lovers. From puffers to practical totes, it seems as though the last year has pushed utility to the forefront of our minds, and it shows no sign of shifting. Chunky boots are another key addition to the form-meets-function line-up, and this season, brands have been expanding their offerings with fresh styles that add a new dimension to this wintry staple. MATCHESFASHION.COM reported an impressive 73% growth in boot sales this year, with rubber boots, in particular, becoming a focus for A/W 21—in no small part thanks to the platform and tread-sole styles seen at Valentino, Bottega Veneta and Loewe. This wellington-inspired knee-high boot has certainly gained traction across the board and cropped up on the high street at…

I Turned 41 This Month, so I Had a Thread Lift—Here’s Why I Recommend It

September 05, 2021 at 08:00AM First of all, let me speak about the elephant in the room. At age 41, I am still young and have healthy skin (thanks to a stringent routine of cleansing, toning, treating, moisturising and sunscreening since age 14), and quite honestly, I feel better in my skin than I ever have. But there’s no denying the collagen depletion and bone loss that comes with age. Yes, that’s right. Apparently, bone mass peaks around ages 25–30 years and declines gradually thereafter in both men and women. Yay!  This is why I started having fillers at around age 37. (You can read my previous articles where I wax lyrical about liquid facials and lip fillers.) Now that I’m entering my 40s, I wanted to try something that didn’t just fill the depleted areas but that actually helped my own body generate its own collagen over time.…
