I Went Street Style–Spotting in East London, and These Outfits Wowed Me

September 08, 2021 at 06:00AM You know you have a special job when a regular part of your work schedule includes making people feel good about themselves. And that is precisely why I love our Who What Wear street style expeditions. Each month, photographer Michaela Efford and I take to the streets of London in search of well-dressed individuals, and I can’t tell you the number of times people have told us we’ve made their day simply because we’ve complimented their outfits and asked them for a photo. This month, in particular, there seemed to be a real feeling of camaraderie and sisterhood amongst the women we photographed along East London’s Broadway Market and Columbia Road. We spotted several pairs of friends happily spending their Friday afternoons together, many of whom were dressed unintentionally in coordinated or complementary outfits. There were sisters who’d just dyed…

Put These Trending Autumn Shoes With Any Outfit and They’ll Bring the Cool

September 08, 2021 at 05:00AM Among the Who What Wear team, I'm known for loving “ugly” shoes. Case in point? My thoughts on how Crocs were set to be big in 2021 (spoiler: they are). While that might be an “ugly” shoe too far for some, style-adjacent to the Crocs is the clog, which is also back for 2021. It might seem like the same shoe but is actually a little different, and (sorry Crocs), much cooler. Last summer, I was drawn to clogs when I spotted Fabrizio Viti’s daisy versions. I own a pair of the denim ones and while I didn’t have anywhere to wear them last summer, I can’t wait to style them à la Lucy Williams with socks. As for the rest of fashion, I can pinpoint the moment we turned towards loving clogs and that was when Hermès debuted the style in its spring/summer 2021 collection.…

Dakota Johnson Just Wore the Autumn Outfit I’m Copying Head to Toe

September 07, 2021 at 11:04AM I have to admit, I don’t look to celebrities all that often for style guidance. Despite the fact that I love poring over red carpet pictures and I’ll be endlessly enthralled and delighted by what avant garde A listers choose to wear for a casual date night (Rihanna, I'm talking about you), in general, I just don't connect with the über-luxury and perfectly styled finish you’ll get from most famous women in the spotlight. However, one actress that does always pique my interest is Dakota Johnson. She has a very laid back approach to dressing for her public appearances, and while she can dial up the va-va-voom for Venice Film Festival, she’s equally adept at flinging on a cool jacket, pair of jeans and flat boots, creating the kind of outfits one could actually recreate quite easily. In the same vein…

I Speak to Dermatologists Every Day—These Are the Brands They Always Recommend

September 07, 2021 at 08:00AM The best thing about being a beauty editor is that I get the opportunity to speak with some of the world’s top beauty experts basically every single day. From celebrity makeup artists to Harley Street surgeons, I am forever picking the brains of experts in a bid to learn everything there is to know about beauty. And while picking up different makeup tips and tricks is wonderful, the one thing I am always most fascinated by is the sort of products skin experts swear by.There’s no doubt that shopping for skincare can be daunting and often frustrating, and not just because of the abundance of choice. All too often we are let down by miracle claims that don’t live up to their promises. And while most medical skin experts and dermatologists insist that if you have serious skin concerns, you should always seek…

J.Lo Wore an Oversized Button-Down as a Dress With This 2000s Shoe Trend

September 07, 2021 at 08:00AM It’s universally acknowledged that Jennifer Lopez can wear absolutely anything and pull it off like a pro. The latest example? J.Lo was photographed in Los Angeles wearing an oversized button-down shirt sans trousers—because who needs them in that heat?—along with a lightweight sweater and a Coach x Jean-Michel Basquiat bag.The shirt-as-a-dress look reminds me of a recent Megan Fox outfit. Great minds think alike. J.Lo also wore chunky platform sneakers that are very in line with the resurgence of Y2K trends this year, so even though her actual pair from The Kooples is sold out, you’ll find plenty of other options available now. 10 Timeless Items Every French Woman Has in Her Wardrobe

September 07, 2021 at 07:00AM I can trace the root of my obsession with French style all the way back to the first time I watched Beauty and the Beast. Belle might have been bored with her provincial life, but I certainly wasn’t. I begged my aunt to let me cut the hem of an old blue bridesmaids dress that resembled Belle’s own, asked my mum to style my hair in a bow every morning, and insisted upon carrying a basket with me wherever I went. Today, I still find myself trying to emulate the look of French women, albeit with less taffeta involved. I trawl through vintage photographs of Paris, looking at the outfits women wore in years since the past, as well as having an entire archive dedicated to saving images of the ensembles my favourite French influencers wear. Upon looking at these snaps…
