I Tried On Every Expensive-Looking High-Street Piece—These 11 Stood Out

December 02, 2021 at 06:10AM After 18 months of only shopping online, I’ve come to the conclusion that a couple of hours browsing in your favourite shops, where you get to see and feel the material of a dress or jacket before making that all-important purchase, pays off. In fact, you’re more likely to pick up those extra-special affordable pieces, as they’re much easier to spot in the flesh. That said, shopping IRL can feel like an assault course at this time of year when the number of people largely increases as we shop for Christmas presents and endless deals and discounts entice customers into the stores. What makes it quicker and easier is knowing what to look out for. The British high street is one of the best in the world, but even I still get blown away by just how designer-esque and premium certain pieces can be.So not only have I…

Celebs Are Retiring Their Beanie Hats in Favour of This Winter Accessory

December 02, 2021 at 06:02AM It takes a lot for us to raise an eyebrow, particularly at a celebrity outfit. Spotlighting trends is what we do best, and after years of perfecting our craft, we seldom find ourselves surprised at what people wear. But that’s precisely what happened when we spotted not one but two major fashion muses sporting a somewhat controversial ’90s accessory this winter. Of course, given the recent cold snap, we’re all looking for ways to toastify our outfits, and both Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowksi happened upon the same item. Feeling the chill over in NYC, in the space of one week, both Hadid and Ratajkowski stepped out in the very same oversized furry bucket hat. Admittedly, it took a minute for us to wrap our heads around this look, but once we did, we fell head over heels for the gloriously nostalgic turn their…

M&S Does the Very Best Jumpers, and These 14 Prove It

December 02, 2021 at 06:00AM It might be absolutely freezing, but the up side to plummeting temperatures is we get to wrap ourselves up in fabulous knitwear until the weather changes. Brits have long relied on M&S for its excellent knitwear selection, and this year it is better than ever, with plenty of beautiful jumpers and cardigans to choose from. M&S is known in particular for its cashmere crew-necks and rollnecks, and this year they’ve added some amazing colours to its classic arsenal, including bright tangerine, ombre styles and a vibrant pink. When it comes to classic knitwear styles, you really can’t beat a chunky cable-knit jumper at this time of year. We love the simple ivory version, but also how M&S has added some subtle styling tweaks, such as the use of buttons and fringe detailing. Speaking of details, we have to mention the beautiful lilac…

This Blusher Has Gone Viral This Year, and It’s Worth the Hype

December 02, 2021 at 06:00AM What happens on TikTok definitely doesn’t stay on TikTok, and thank goodness for thatbecause some of my all-time favourite purchases have come from my aimless scrolling. That’s exactly how I found out about Dior's universal Backstage Rosy Glow Blush (ÂŁ27).A few months back, there were claims that Kylie Jenner and her makeup artist, Ariel Tejada, were big fans of the Dior blush, and the news quite literally almost broke the internet. Okay, maybe it was just the Dior website. I remember trying to convince myself for weeks that I didn’t need to add another blush to my ever-growing collection, and then in just a matter of days, I found myself frantically on the hunt for one that wasn’t sold out. After what felt like weeks of searching, I was happy to finally get my hands on my own blush to see what all the fuss was about. The blush claims to create…

Kendall and Katie Have the Same High-Street Shoes and My Full Attention

December 01, 2021 at 11:09AM We’re at that in-between stage when summer’s most reliable shoes are well and truly redundant (so long, Tevas!) but there are days when a snug pair of boots feels a little OTT. What’s the solution? Well, just ask Kendall Jenner and Katie Holmes for autumnal fashion advice because they have both landed on the same pair of high-street flats and seem pretty pleased about it. Vagabond, in case you don’t know already, is a Swedish shoe label that specialises in trend-hitting silhouettes that influencers and celebrities gravitate towards because more often than not they’re super practical and low-key. Chunky flats—whether loafer, brogue or boot—are their signature, but it’s one particular pair, called the Cosmo 2.0, that has proven to be the biggest hit. And when you realise that this elite crowd is side-stepping their more expensive options in favour of a ÂŁ110 pair…

The Colourful High-Street Edit We Keep Seeing All Over Instagram

December 01, 2021 at 11:29AM It’s not often that we fall in love with a specific design detail from a collection, but this week Free People became the exception to the rule. We keep spotting the brand’s ‘Shayla’ pieces all over Instagram: Colourful creations that range from printed jumpsuits and mini dresses to button-up blouses. While they all come in a variety of prints and colourways, every design features a button-up fastening and delicate ruching up the front, creating an undeniably flattering finish. We love the Shayla jumpsuit in orange and purple on Abi Marvel, who styles it with chunky loafers, while Hannah Lou Robinson opts for the velvet mini dress in a very autumnal shade of rust red. Personally, I’m eyeing the marble-effect button-up blouse, which I think would look amazing with black trousers and heeled boots for a festive dinner party. Luckily, there are plenty more iterations where these came…

We Try Before You Buy: 9 Party Outfits We Can’t Wait to Wear

December 01, 2021 at 09:00AM Our We Try Before You Buy series aims to take the stress out of shopping and eliminate the number of post office visits you make each month to return failed online orders. We test new-season buys and styling ideas so you don’t have to. Here, we’re letting you know what’s actually worth investing in or styling tricks you can recreate with pieces you already own. The words ‘party dressing’ might conjure up images of sequins and sparkly fabrics, however it can be more than just magpie styling. The theme of this month’s We Try Before You Buy was an obvious choice, as our diaries are filling up with festive plans. We each opted for a party outfit that we would love to wear this December, finding pieces on the high street, from small independent brands and designer labels and borrowed from…

I’ve Lived in Paris for 8.5 Years—This Is the Dress French Women Always Wear

December 01, 2021 at 08:00AM I’m a big advocate for the capsule wardrobe—an armoire filled with cherry-picked items that, to borrow from Marie Kondo, give me only joy when wearing them. Conscious shopping is something I’ve adopted too in the past eight and a half years since moving to Paris, and it’s also incidentally something I write about in my new book, Practising Parisienne: Lifestyle Secrets From the City of Lights, which is out now. I’ve found that Parisians have a knack for picking forever pieces, are less likely to buy into fast fashion and have a penchant for vintage and pre-loved clothing that they mix in with more up-to-date styles. They have certainly inspired my own style that’s a lot less try-hard than it used to be, and I now invest in pieces that last: elevated basics that I can wear again and again,…

Dermatologists and Celebrities Swear By This Affordable Skincare Brand

December 01, 2021 at 08:00AM Skincare can be really expensive. In fact, I’m kind of fed up of tip-toeing around the fact that in so many cases, we’re all being painfully overcharged for certain skincare products. Brands know all too well the price that we’re willing to pay for great skin, and they’re not afraid to take advantage of it. However, as our skincare priorities have shifted, not only are brands charging obscene amounts of money for efficacious products, but they’re also driving up prices on products that look more aesthetically pleasing. As a result of this, it’s safe to say that when it comes to skincare, price does not always reflect quality. So when a no-frills product range comes along that doesn’t have a gimmicky name, doesn’t come housed in Instagram-worthy bottles and generally lacks fancies, it can be very easy for it…
