Jennifer Aniston and J.Lo Both Wore the Denim Trend I’m Replacing Skinnies With

December 15, 2021 at 08:00AM I wouldn’t say that Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez have similar personal styles. The latter’s tends to be much more bold and experimental. But here they are wearing identical outfit formulas in the same week in the same city. Who would have thought? They were both photographed in Los Angeles wearing black turtleneck sweaters, flared jeans and top-handle bags. Are you taking notes yet?Flared jeans happen to be one of my favourite denim trends right now—one that I’m willing to swap out my beloved skinny jeans for. In my opinion, they’re so much dressier than skinnies and help you look instantly polished. Scroll down to see how both well-dressed women style the same outfit combo and to shop similar pieces for yourself. On Jennifer Lopez: Hermès Birkin bagJen and Ben are still going strong. On Jennifer Aniston: Oliver Peoples Nisen Glasses (ÂŁ297); Wolford turtleneck; Nili Lotan Oakland…

The “Dated” Trend French Women Still Love to Wear

December 15, 2021 at 06:04AM One thing we’ve noticed about French women is their shared ability to breathe new life into older trends—looks some might even deem “dated.” But with their natural flair and laid-back approach to styling, we find ourselves being influenced to wear trends previously written off once more. Enter corduroy. While this retro fabric has long been considered a basic, we haven’t seen it as much in the last few years. But make no mistake—if you follow the Gallic-girl dress code, it’s one of the season’s biggest trends.Although the material has roots in the ‘70s, French women are giving their corduroy staples a modern feel, wearing them in fresh new ways. Take Julie Sergent Ferreri, whose bright-pink corduroy suit was one of the sleekest looks we clocked during Paris Fashion Week. And Franny Fyne? She makes her classic tan corduroy blazer feel bang-up-to-date with the…

There Are 17,000 Pieces in the Net-a-Porter Sale—You Need to See These 25

December 15, 2021 at 06:00AM There’s no fancy way to say this but, wow, the NET-A-PORTER sale is looking good this year. After a mere 10 minutes scrolling through the first few pages, my internet tabs were edging close to 30 and covered an eclectic mix of 16Arlington feather-trim blazers, Preen printed tops and JW Anderson chunky knits. NET-A-PORTER really has left no stone unturned in its discount offering this year. At the time of writing, there are 17,113 results in the sale, which, if you browsed every item, would result in a lot of scrolling. That’s a hefty undertaking, even for a shopping editor. But I have some tricks up my sleeve that allow me to find the best bits, which I have now rounded up for you in one concise shopping edit—you lucky things. I’ve tried to pick pieces that I genuinely think are worth the investment and will stand the…

These Iconic Gucci Bags Will Always Be the Height of Chic

December 15, 2021 at 06:00AM It bags may come and go, but when buying a designer handbag and parting with such a significant amount of money, you want to be certain that it’s something that is truly deserving of the title of "investment piece.“ This is an item that you want to have by your side for years, if not decades. Yes, love is a big part of it, but this is also a purchase that requires a certain amount of research and consideration. There are certain heritage houses that are known to hold their value but that also create timeless, beautiful designs that ensure their key styles are continued for decades. Gucci is one of these very labels. Looking through a Gucci collection is like diving into an eclectic dressing-up box—you’re met with more crystals, bold colours, wacky prints and feathers than you’d see at an Elton John…

All My Favourite Party Buys Have This One Thing in Common

December 15, 2021 at 06:00AM Is there really anything more fabulous than feathers? It’s a rhetorical question because, of course, the answer is no. For me it always summons glittering visions of silver screen Hollywood starlets and the sort of unapologetically glamorous matriarchs who wear their diamonds to bed. Feathers are frivolous, yes, but they are also escapist, fun and guaranteed to put you in the party mood, whether you’re in a cocktail bar or lounging on the sofa.Fashion brands such as 16Arlington, The Sleeper and Taller Marmo have helped to bring feather-trimmed pieces into the mainstream over the last couple of years, and I have been a vocal supporter from the start. I wouldn’t exactly consider myself to be an extravagant dresser, but when it comes to party-wear I can’t resist a little bit of ‘extra’. For example, at my 30th birthday party a few weeks…

Spring/Summer 2022 Trends: The Only 17 Looks You Need to Know About

December 15, 2021 at 05:09AM I am so excited about S/S 22’s fashion trends. The overarching mood was one of real optimism, but where the previous season perhaps went into overdrive with the desire (desperation?) to get dressed up for even the most low-key of weekly grocery shops, the outlook for S/S 22 is that there is a time and place to be extra fabulous but still a strong demand and a necessity for easy, simple, luxurious, gorgeous clothes and outfits you can fling on in a hurry. There are places to go, people to see and the many ensembles to suit. So while on the one hand there’s a very clear shift towards revealing, ultra-sassy, cut-to-here-and-slashed-to-there kind of dressing, there’s also a very chic, understated antithesis at play. It speaks to a modern shopper’s whims and natural inclination to change one’s mind. Some days you might channel Rosie…

These 4 High Street Coats Look So Expensive

December 14, 2021 at 04:23PM It is now officially very cold, and so a reliable winter coat is an absolute essential. While a MaxMara or Toteme coat will always be my dream purchase, I’ve been really impressed by some of the tailored, wool coats that have been on offer on the high street recently. The key to an expensive-looking coat really is the silhouette. Think oversized, falling on the ankles and with plenty of room on the body so you can layer it over a chunky knit. There are four high street coats in particular that really stand out right now and all have this structure, and are either in ecru, grey and navy. My favourite is a stone-coloured overcoat from & Other Stories, closely followed by a black and white chevron-print coat from Zara. If you’re still on the great coat hunt, keep…

22 Very Old Trends I’m Still Wearing Today

December 14, 2021 at 05:00AM I’m a huge fan of ‘70s fashion—the era created a host of trends that still stand up today, whether you realise they’re from that time or not. Think of our current obsession with bright over-the-knee boots, folk-inspired printed dresses, velvet and corduroy, boho blouses, midi skirts and so on. While the '70s sweep over the runways every couple of seasons, there’s always a hint of it on the streets if you look closely.Think of the iconic designer names that were indelibly marked into history during this decade, like Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld and Diane von Furstenberg. Also, during this period, mass-market, trend-driven fashion was more readily available. Barbara Hulanicki’s Biba kick-started the idea in London a decade earlier, alongside boutiques such as Bus Stop, and cool, connected girls were able to switch up their looks more readily, which likely led…

7 Non-Boring Ways to Wear Jeans This Winter

December 14, 2021 at 08:00AM As cold weather sets in, it’s no surprise a lot of us will take the easy route and reach for our reliable wardrobe essentials. You know, the blazer that’ll never let you down—from work to weekend plans—and the white T-shirt that has been worn, and washed, more times than we could count. Then there are jeans. While skinny jeans have taken a back seat this year (no one wants to feel restricted in super-tight denim), other styles are leading as the starting point to every great winter outfit we’re finally ready to wear. Sure, jeans are an easy option when getting dressed, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. And we’re going to show you a whole host of simple (but again, not-boring) ways to wear some of the best pairs, from the flared jeans that’ll create…
