I Just Tried On 10 Easy Spring Outfits From M&S’s Excellent New-In Section

April 17, 2022 at 08:00AM All hail M&S! I’ve been working in the fashion industry for almost a decade now, and I still don’t think there’s anywhere else on the high street as reliable for great-quality, long-lasting wardrobe staples. Everyone on the Who What Wear UK team agrees, with each of us admitting we turn to the affordable stalwart for some of our most-worn everyday pieces, from lingerie basics and coats to cashmere and denim. There’s just something about its elevated classics—nothing too trend-led or fancy but always with a polished edge—and each season guarantees a fresh wave of hero items.  It won’t come as a surprise, then, to know that we keep a constant close eye on M&S’s new-in section, mostly so we can keep you in the loop on the best things that we find but also to fuel our own personal shopping…

These Are the Only Beauty Tips That Matter, According to Our Beauty-Editor DMs

April 17, 2022 at 08:00AM As beauty editors, we know that you have a hard time taking our recommendations seriously. Not because you don’t want to believe us but because of everything you have likely learned of beauty journalism. When I posted a Q&A on Instagram a few months ago, I was totally taken aback by how many people asked me what products I actually like. It would seem as though our content on social media is deemed somewhat more authentic than the online stories we write for our day jobs. And this got me thinking. In order to truly convince you that we really do believe every ounce of what we preach, I’d let you go where no one has gone before, lifting the curtain on exactly what we beauty editors talk about behind closed doors, from skincare to makeup. After all, what more relevant beauty tips…

Kate Middleton Just Endorsed the Puddle-Pants Trend That’s Set to Take Over

April 17, 2022 at 08:00AM When Kate Middleton wears jeans, they’re usually skinny. When she wears dresses, they’re midi, and when she wears trousers, they’re usually wide-leg. Such was the case today when she and Prince William visited volunteers at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London. Middleton showed her support for Ukraine by wearing a blue-and-yellow pin on a blue sweater. She also wore block-heel pumps and a pair of wide-leg trousers that can best be described as puddle pants. Puddle pants (and jeans) are basically loose and so long that they pool around the ankles. So in this case, save yourself a trip to the tailor and keep the ultra-long length intact—just don’t step out on a rainy day…Middleton’s pants are by British brand Jigsaw (did you know she once worked for them?), but plenty of others are getting in on the trend, and there are options at every price point.…

It’s Official—These Are the Best Flat Shoes to Wear With Midi Dresses

April 17, 2022 at 08:00AM Hands up who owns a midi dress? The likelihood of everyone owning one is pretty high considering they are one of the most reliable (note: never boring) items around. In fact, they deserve a place in any capsule wardrobe as much as any trench coat, good-quality white T-shirt or blazer does. Sure, there are tonnes of new spring dress trends out there, but when the midi works across all seasons for any occasion and is universally flattering, it’s no surprise we choose this style again and again. While we’ve been pairing said dress with knee-high Western boots and any form of ankle boots, from heeled to stomper, for the cooler months, it’s time to think about what to wear them with for spring. Enter flat shoes. Be brave. Ankles are about to be bared, and we are so ready for the freedom…

6 Stylish Women Over 50 Who Have Mastered Wedding Guest Dressing

April 17, 2022 at 08:00AM Hands up who already has multiple wedding invites in their diaries? This year is of course busier than the previous two, and with so many upcoming occasions, what do we wear for all of them? While there are certain brands we always turn to for amazing wedding guest looks (looking at you, Rixo), when it comes to wedding guest outfits we love for spring, we’ve found some alternatives to the usual equation: dress + heels. Some of the most stylish women on Instagram are the ones who have dressed for different occasions for many years. And those who are over 50 have been giving us all a lesson in how to dress for a wedding no matter the location. They’re providing all the guest inspiration we could ask for, including printed suits, Bermuda-short co-ords and flattering puff-sleeved dresses, all of which we now…

I’m a Fashion Editor, and Here’s Everything I Have Saved in my Notes for Summer

April 17, 2022 at 06:56AM As a fashion editor and stylist, I spend the majority of my time looking at clothes. Whether it’s a sneak peek at a brand’s upcoming collection, writing up the most recent catwalk trends or searching for expensive-looking pieces on the high street. While it’s amazing to be able to do a show and tell of the latest looks, it’s dangerous. And by dangerous, I mean for my bank account. With so much newness, it’s easy to shop at all times. But although I used to be a bit of a shopping addict, my habits have changed, and I now fully think before I shop.My most recent purchase: Zara’s striped top and maxi skirt co-ord. Sounds obvious, but impulse buys are so easy to make. And after years of having items with tags left on in my wardrobe, I now make a…

30 Stylish, Summer-Ready Staples From M&S, Arket and Mango

April 17, 2022 at 06:55AM If the weather forecast is anything to go by, summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to finally dredge up those linen shirts, floaty frocks and chunky sandals that have been lying dormant in the back of our wardrobes for the last eight months. Scrolling through the new-in sections of our favourite high-street brands, it’s clear that the feel-good aesthetic is continuing into summer 2022.I’m particularly enjoying the throw-on, wearable silhouettes in an eclectic mix of beiges and brights offered up by the likes of Marks and Spencer, Arket and Mango this season. I also recommend reaching for hard-wearing fabrics, such as linen, which will keep you cool, feel premium and look great for many seasons to come. M&S has plenty of winning linen buys in stock right now, as does Arket.  The other category at the top of my wish list is warm-weather-ready…

I’m a Dress Person, and These Are the 8 New Dresses I Adore

April 17, 2022 at 06:15AM If there’s one thing I know, it’s dresses. My wardrobe is full of them, and I wear them 99.9% of the time. I’ve always struggled with casual dressing (long-time Who What Wear readers will have repeatedly read about my ongoing struggle with denim—sorry to be a bore!), so easy, good-looking frocks are my most trusted fashion staple.I have affordable dresses that I wear each and every week. I have special, more expensive versions that come out for important occasions or big meetings. I have those in-between, mid-priced options that bridge the gap between casual and fancy days. I own styles that are ultra summery and best for heatwaves and holiday packing, but I’ve also got a fair number of clever, trans-seasonal styles that can work layered up and with tights in winter or with bare legs and sandals…
