The M&S Leather Trousers That Have Been a Huge Hit With the Fashion Crowd

February 12, 2022 at 06:00AM In the contemporary wardrobe, leather trousers are one of those wardrobe items that were previously considered statement items, reserved for the rock stars and Kate Mosses of the world (with the odd cameo from Ross from Friends). However, in recent years, they’ve settled into a more mainstream strata, embraced by brands at both ends of the fashion market. I mean, if someone had told fashion editors 20 years ago that M&S would create its own pair of faux-leather trousers and that the fashion crowd would snap them up, they probably wouldn’t have believed you.But here were are, and I have to admit that these £40 high-street faux-leather trousers present a good challenge to some designer iterations I’ve seen thanks to their perfect straight-leg and high-waisted fit. I’ve already seen this pair on the likes of Francesca Saffari and Karina from Style Idealist, who have styled them with everything from quilted jackets to striped knits. We…

The 6 Spring Trends Our Editors Are Impatient to Wear

February 12, 2022 at 06:00AM I don’t know about you, but this winter has felt like the longest on record, so boy are we excited to be edging ever closer to spring. It’s been almost two years since we first went into lockdown, so we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate the feel-good fashions that will be brightening up our wardrobes this season. After all, if the last 24 months have shown us anything, it’s that what we wear can really have have an impact on how we feel.So really, it came as no surprise that when I asked our editorial team which trends they’re impatient to wear for the new season, they came back with colour, prints and polish. We’ve got Editor in Chief Hannah Almassi, who has wholeheartedly embraced the bright-colour trend—surely the most obvious manifestation of our joy at spring arriving? Or Emma Spedding’s penchant for a statement print…

These 13 Mascaras Are All Under £15 and Are Genuinely Amazing

February 12, 2022 at 06:00AM I’m a firm believer that mascara is one of the places in your makeup routine that you absolutely do not need to invest heavily in. Some of the best mascaras I have tried and continue to repurchase have been available on the high street or when I’m doing my food shop. I have long, straight lashes, so I always curl them before applying mascara. I’ve found that the best affordable mascaras will hold the curl all day and won’t droop or crumble off. Of course, no mascara is perfect (except maybe one—we’ll get to that), so below, I’ve noted the pros and any cons with each mascara pick.If you have short or curled lashes, look out for mascaras that have a plastic brush. These seem to work best for lengthening and gripping shorter lashes without leaving an imprint on your lid, a…

I Just Tried On M&S’s Best-Selling Jeans, and I’m Officially a Convert

February 11, 2022 at 08:00AM Okay, I admit it. When it comes to buying denim these days, I’m a bit of a snob. I spent my early 20s trying every high-street style I could find, going through God knows how many pairs of Topshop Jonis and Jamies. Once I hit my 30s, I gave up and started investing in fewer, more considered (read: expensive) pairs, hoping this was the solution to finding the holy grail of perfect jeans.I’ve definitely found a few really great go-tos, but like all of us, I’m still constantly on the lookout for a better pair. And while I presumed my high-street denim days were behind me, it was a recent Who What Wear team Slack discussion around everyone’s favourite jeans that had me reluctantly reconsidering. The verdict was that Marks and Spencer jeans are seriously impressive. Our contributing beauty editor Shannon Lawlor says it’s…

Trust Me—These 15 Foundations Give the Most Youthful-Looking Glow

February 11, 2022 at 08:00AM Here at Who What Wear, we’re all for embracing our skin’s natural ageing process. Every fine line should, in truth, be considered an achievement. At the same time, however, we’re fervently of the belief that every individual has the right to take indisputable ownership of their own feelings towards their complexion, which is why we don’t feel crazy about the term anti-ageing.Let me use my own skin-ageing journey to explain. As a beauty editor, I have access to all of the very best “anti-ageing” products around. And yet, when the fine lines on my forehead started becoming more prominent at age 27, I decided to seek professional advice and get Botox. For years, I have considered myself fundamentally against the term “anti-ageing” because I don’t believe that we should feel obliged or encouraged to reverse the natural proceedings…

J.Lo’s Outfit for Date Night With Ben Is Perfect If You’re Over Skinny Jeans

February 11, 2022 at 08:00AM How does Jennifer Lopez dress for a date night in Los Angeles? Well, for dinner with Ben Affleck at celebrity-favourite restaurant Craig’s, she kept it sleek and simple in a slim-fit tank top, high-waisted, wide-leg trousers, and some designer jewellery. (Oh, and don’t forget her best accessory of all: her ripped arms.)Wide-leg trousers are a fun trend to experiment with if you’ve been wearing your go-to skinny jeans to shreds lately. The pants are super comfortable and easy to wear yet look a lot more polished than denim, making them perfect for date night. Scroll down to see Jennifer Lopez’s new outfit, and shop similar pieces for yourself.  On Jennifer Lopez: Foundrae necklace; Loro Piana Sesia Bag (£2885)This price tag is incredibly tempting. This tank from Kim Kardashian’s brand, Skims, has rave reviews. Another well-priced basic that you’ll get a ton of use out of. These…

These Hairstyles Will Take Years Off Your Face

February 11, 2022 at 08:00AM I don’t know about you, but the past year has felt long. I’ve got more grey hair and more wrinkles, and despite going to bed earlier, I’m still tired. There’s no denying that I’ve felt like I’ve aged faster in lockdown. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with this (I have no issues with changing hair colour or a few lines on my face), the speed at which it has happened has been a little disconcerting. I want to feel like myself again, and for me, that means getting a haircut. Over the past few months, I’ve lost count of the number of people who have said their hair needs cutting, from my husband to my colleagues as well as my parents. The craving to get a chop has been strong. Personally, I’m desperate to get my hair cut back into a…

Arket’s Most Coveted Jumper Is Finally Back in Stock, But It Won’t Hang Around

February 11, 2022 at 06:15AM I don’t want to sound like a fashion cliché, but I think I’ve fallen in love with a jumper. To be fair, the pullover in question has all the attributes I’m looking for: It’s striped, loose-fitting and, crucially, looks way more expensive than it is. The piece I’m referring to comes from Arket and costs £69. The brand has reissued this jumper after similar versions sold out last year, and I (along with the rest of the Who What Wear team) have been waiting for this new drop ever since. It’s not really surprising that we’re all falling over ourselves for this high-street item considering it is very similar to the incredibly expensive Celine version, so this feels like a real bargain. This time, there are two versions for us to choose from: a white jumper with blue stripes (the OG) and a white jumper with…

The High-Street Items That Deserve a Place in Your Forever Wardrobe

February 11, 2022 at 06:08AM Lorna wears a blazer and T-shirt from Arket. There’s a misconception that you can’t find classic wardrobe items on the high street—that the pieces are too trend-led and their appeal will fade when new sartorial movements come into play. However, we’re here to prove otherwise. All of our favourite high-street brands are known for getting specific things right, whether that’s an entire product category, such as ASOS’s knitted co-ords, or a particular item, for example, & Other Stories’ wool-blend blazer or Dune’s cult Loupe sandals.Following on from this, we’ve rounded up all the expensive-looking pieces that fit this citation to bring you the best high-street classic items from each store to spend your money on. The perfect capsule is but a scroll away.Style Notes: We’ve made a pact to wear more dresses this year. Naturally, & Other Stories’ dress department is our first port of call. From…
