The overarching mood was one of real optimism, but where the previous season perhaps went into overdrive with the desire (desperation?) to get dressed up for even the most low-key of weekly grocery shops, the outlook for spring and summer is that there is a time and place to be extra fabulous but still a strong demand and a necessity for easy, simple, luxurious, gorgeous clothes and outfits you can fling on in a hurry. There are places to go, people to see and the many ensembles to suit. April 17, 2022 at 01:06PM After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Prince Harry-founded Invictus Games kicked off this weekend in the Netherlands, and of course, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in attendance. And for one of the more casual events of the weekend, Markle went for the winning combination of jeans and flats (Chanel ballet flats, to be exact). And instead of her usual skinny jeans, this time Markle went for a more current denim trend: low-rise jeans. Yep, you heard right.Instead of a midriff-baring crop top, which is a popular pairing with low-rise jeans this season, Markle wore a white T-shirt and an item than added instant polish to the casual jeans: a black tweed jacket. Gone are the days when we’d refuse to wear white after Labor Day or dismiss navy and black as an ill-conceived colour pairing. I’ve been to so many weddings in my time that being a wedding guest could pass for my side hustle. And you’d be surprised at how many people commit this faux pas.
