Selena Gomez Makes All-Black Look Anything but Boring in a Subtly Sexy Versace Outfit

September 08, 2021 at 06:11PM It wasn’t the falling temperatures, pumpkin spice lattes, or Halloween costumes that finally had me registering summer was coming to an end - it was the all-black outfit Selena Gomez wore for a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote her new show Only Murders in the Building with costars Steve Martin and Martin Short. Transitional and chic yet subtly sexy, the look consisted of a jersey bodysuit with a sweetheart neckline under a buttery leather miniskirt, courtesy of Versace. After months of reaching for bright colors and bold prints, Selena’s simple ensemble reminds me just how sleek head-to-toe black can be. Oh, how I’ve missed my dark hues and leather pieces. The actress effortlessly paired her fall outfit with black heeled sandals to match and a white snakeskin purse. Ahead, get a 360…

Ultimately, Curves Are the Star of Christian Siriano’s Spring Runway

September 08, 2021 at 04:15AM For his 40th collection, Christian Siriano kicked off the spring 2022 shows at New York Fashion Week, delivering the level of runway we hoped for. The designer brought his optimistic glam when we needed it most, giving us neon hues, denim, dramatic evening wear, and a catwalk filled with beautifully diverse models to mark a new season - and maybe, a new beginning for Fashion. If looking to 2021 meant reimagining the future of fashion, designing for 2022 is bringing it to fruition, and who better to lead the charge than Siriano, a champion of diversity and the talent behind looks we’ve loved from Beyonce, Zendaya, Amanda Gorman, and more of the world’s most impressive women. The spring ‘22 show was, unsurprisingly, a celebrity draw, attracting names like longtime muse Coco Rocha and Lil Kim, who sat front…

Lily Collins’s Ralph Lauren Wedding Gown and Lace Cape Are Straight Out of a Fairy Tale

September 08, 2021 at 01:30AM Congratulations are in order for Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell after the happy couple shared photos of their magical wedding, held on Sept. 4. Poised in front of a spellbinding waterfall backdrop, the happy couple shared a sweet kiss that could easily make for the cover of a fairy-tale romance, made all the more enchanting by Lily’s Ralph Lauren wedding dress. The embroidered gown featured an elegant high neckline and delicate lace sleeves that perfectly matched her hooded cape veil, aka the ultimate wedding accessory. The extraordinary look has us wondering if the Emily in Paris star enlisted the help of a fairy godmother - the dress-cape combo is so enchanting that we will definitely be adding these wedding photos to our fairy-tale wedding vision boards. “What started as a fairy tale, is now my forever reality,” she…

The Surprising Connection Between Only Murders in the Building’s Costumes and Timothée Chalamet

September 07, 2021 at 10:30PM The “collaboration between cast and costume designer is where the magic happens,” costume designer Dana Covarrubias told POPSUGAR of her work, outfitting Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez in Hulu’s new murder-mystery comedy, Only Murders in the Building. “There’s always a moment in the fitting where you get to see how your costumes are helping to transform the actor into the character they’re becoming.” That’s the part we see play out onscreen as we watch Selena as Mabel Mora, Steve Martin as Charles Haden-Savage, Martin Short as Oliver Putnam, swathed in the looks carefully crafted by Dana - and rooted in the script. How she set about dressing Selena as Mabel was guided by the cues there, she told us, “My first influence is always the script. Mabel, Selena’s character, is scripted as a tough, no-nonsense single-woman…

If You Need Me, I’ll be Wearing This $28 Dress All Fall Long

September 07, 2021 at 10:05PM With Labor Day weekend officially in the rearview mirror, we’re all in for a rude awakening: that’s right, summer is over. And, while many people are saying goodbye to summer Fridays and beach vacays, I’m personally mourning my summer wardrobe. (Or, well, so I thought.) You see, I practically live in easy, breezy sundresses all summer long. When the temperature and humidity are at all-time highs, the last thing I want to do is pile on the accessories. So, my sundress stock offers a low-effort way to feel somewhat put-together. (All I need to do is slip on a dress, grab my favorite sandals and purse, and I’m good to go!) Don’t get me wrong, I love sweaters and boots as much as the next style-conscious consumer, but piecing together the perfect outfit can be…a lot. Fortunately, A…

25 Models Bringing Their Black Girl Magic to the Fashion Week Runways

September 07, 2021 at 09:02PM More Black models walked the Fashion Week runways in 2020 than ever before, and hopefully the numbers will go up even more this year - specifically this spring 2022 season. Black models are making strides that in years past would have never seemed possible: opening and closing some of the biggest shows, appearing in groundbreaking campaigns, and splashing the covers of some of the biggest magazines. These models are showing what the power of a little melanin and a lot of strength can do for the fashion industry. There is still a long way to go for inclusion on the runway. It’s not often you see someone who is differently abled, trans, or of any “>size that would qualify as "curve” walking the catwalk. But tides are shifting in the world of fashion, and it’s cause for celebration.…

Tinashe Sizzled on Stage at MIA Festival in a Butter-Yellow Leotard Speckled With Rhinestones

September 07, 2021 at 08:53PM In a move that has my sunscreen trembling, Tinashe took a cue from the sun and lit up the stage at the Made in America music festival in Philadelphia on Sunday. Over the weekend, the “Bouncin’” singer rocked a sunshine-yellow L.O.C.A. leotard bedazzled in shimmering rhinestones, along with a pair of Nike Air Max 90s and a layer of glittery silver eyeshadow. “Lil booty on the loose 💛,” she captioned an Instagram post on Sept. 6, showing off the gorgeous outfit. Covered in more cutouts than a slice of swiss cheese, the leotard - complete with rhinestone-embellished fringe - leaves little to the imagination. Like beams of sunlight, the thin strips of golden fabric and sparkling jewels created a delicate criss-cross pattern across her torso that kept us entranced during her entire performance. Oh, and did we mention…

17 Models to Know Now – and Let’s Stop Calling Them Plus Size, Please

September 07, 2021 at 07:41PM The cultural definition of beauty has slowly started to evolve, and better late than never. The fact that Ashley Graham is now universally recognized as a household name speaks to such progress. And if you don’t know who that is by now, well, you should fix that as soon as humanly possible. We’re living in a time when people are (finally) holding brands and publications accountable and challenging what have long been considered the “classic” American standards of beauty, and I for one absolutely love to see it. There is, of course, infinite amounts of more work to be done. However, it’s reason enough for us to celebrate what we are seeing: more diversity and inclusion in the modeling industry than ever before. In order to keep pushing the needle forward, we must all collectively move away from…
