November 04, 2021 at 06:20PM The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) commenced in Glasgow this week as international leaders face mounting pressure to unearth solutions to the fashion industry’s role in the climate crisis. On November 3, designer Stella McCartney — a crusader for sustainability since creating her luxury label in 2001 — gave the summit’s attendees a taste of what those solutions could be in a flourishing installation. Titled “Future of Fashion: An innovation conversation with Stella McCartney,” the COP26 exhibit invited guests to imagine a “nature-positive” fashion industry through an exploration of the brand’s next-generation materials. Hosted at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, “Future of Fashion” is part of Prince Charles’s Sustainable Market Initiative (SMI) and is aligned with its Terra Carta charter, designed to provide blueprint for businesses to move towards a sustainable future by 2030.…

Old Hollywood Meets Greek Mythology at the Gucci Love Parade

November 03, 2021 at 06:54PM Everyone has a Hollywood fantasy. It’s the romanticized version we all grew up daydreaming about, filled with dazzling lights, stars on every corner and cutting edge fashion. On the evening of November 2, Gucci brought that fantasy to life. The fashion house shut down Hollywood Boulevard and used the Walk of Fame as the runway for its first in-person show since before the pandemic: Gucci Love Parade, a collection of over 100 looks worn by an eclectic cast including Jared Leto, Jodie Turner-Smith, St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Janaya Khan and Macaulay Culkin. The Gucciverse created was one full of glamour and allure. Creative Director Alessandro Michele pulled inspiration from his love for classic Hollywood and his familiarity with the escapism of show business. As a child living in a squat in the outskirts of Rome, he relished in…

Diggstown Tackles Birth Alerts and the Policy’s Disproportionate Impact on Indigenous Women

November 03, 2021 at 01:56PM In the November 3 episode of Diggstown, CBC’s ground-breaking legal drama, the show’s creators zero in on birth alerts, a controversial practice in which child welfare agencies notify hospitals and birth centres when an expectant mother is believed to be “high risk,” often resulting in the seizure of the baby without consent. It’s a policy that has been widely condemned for its disproportionate impact on Indigenous and Black women. And while Diggstown is scripted TV, the show’s creator/showrunner Floyd Kane and episode director Juanita Peters want viewers — and Canadians — to know that this is not a fictional policy, nor is it something from the distant past. Nova Scotia (where Diggstown is set) and Quebec still practice birth alerts, while British Columbia, Alberta and the Yukon ceased the policy in 2019. Manitoba and Ontario only stopped issuing…

Could this be real? Here’s what we know. On October 29, the pair was photographed holding hands on a roller coaster ride at Knott’s Scary Farm, a Halloween event in Buena Park, California. They were accompanied by the aforementioned Kourtney Kardashian and Barker on the spooky outing (Davidson and Barker reportedly know each other through their mutual friend Machine Gun Kelly, who is dating Megan Fox. Still with me?). Kravis has had many a viral double date with MGK and Fox, and both celeb couples rarely hesitate to share PDA pics and objectively strange proclamations of love (like, the fact that MGK wears a vial of Fox’s blood…
