The 2022 Pantone Colour of the Year Is Here

December 10, 2021 at 08:42PM Say goodbye to Ultimate Gray and Illuminating! Very Peri has officially been announced as the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2022. In a press release published on Thursday, Pantone said of their new favourite hue: “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.” View this post on Instagram   A post shared by PANTONE (@pantone) iframe.instagram-media { position: static !important; } The choice came as no surprise, especially following the pervasive use of lilacs and lavenders on the Fall/Winter 2021 runways. The rising popularity of gaming, virtual reality and digital art also informed the selection process, as our physical and digital worlds have become more and more inseparable. We saw the whimsical blue-leaning purple on the Spring…

How Rosemin Madhavji Became One of the Middle East’s Most Influential Women

December 10, 2021 at 02:30PM Rosemin Madhavji accumulated mentors the way other people collect art. Her first was Tom Ford, and then there was Burberry’s turnaround queen, Angela Ahrendts; these were topped off by a brief flirtation with LVMH’s Delphine Arnault. From where she sits now — as a celebrity influencer, entrepreneur, fashion expert and TV presenter — her roster of bold-faced bosses doesn’t seem so surprising. But Rosemin Madhavji wasn’t born into — or indeed anywhere near — the world of high fashion. For the daughter of South Asian immigrants who arrived in London, Ont., with nothing but their suitcases, luxury meant not having to work on the weekends, not a Fendi bag. Rosemin Madhavji is proud of her roots. “My parents worked so hard — my father had the local convenience store, and my mother was a teacher,” she says. “My…

If Kim Kardashian Can Become A Style Icon, So Can You

December 09, 2021 at 03:41PM When Kim Kardashian was awarded the Fashion Icon honour at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards on December 7, it came as no surprise. Throughout her rise to superstardom, the reality-star-turned-trendsetter has cemented herself as a fixture in the fashion world. But her ascension to fashion royalty didn’t happen overnight. It wasn’t due to luck, or even her own eye for style. Rather, Kim Kardashian had a strategy for rising to the top of the fashion world: submit to it. People’s Choice Award! The fashion Icon Award and Best Reality TV Show! I’m so humbled and honored and the people who voted!!! pic.twitter.com/0OJOufP4I5 — Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) December 8, 2021 “I started off as a closet organizer and a stylist, so the fact that I am winning a fashion icon award [is] like a pinch-me moment,” she said…

I Tried PH5’s Hyaluronic Acid Pajamas for One Week

December 09, 2021 at 02:30PM When knitwear label PH5, which has been spotted on stylish stars such as Gemma Chan and Issa Rae, announced it would be releasing a set of the PJ5 hyaluronic acid-infused pajamas just in time for the Canadian winter, there was no doubt I had to give these space pants a spin. The chic sets, which come in a variety of colours and styles including jumpsuits, leggings, shirts and even matching socks, are made of responsibly sourced FSC-verified EcoVero viscose yarn (the fibers are derived from sustainable wood and pulp) infused with hyaluronic acid molecules meant to last up to 40 washes. For those that haven’t jumped on the HA skincare wagon as of yet, it’s a much-lauded ingredient thanks to the fact that it’s already naturally present in our bodies and has the ability to bind with water,…

Soo Joo Park Turned Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Show into her First Ever Concert

December 08, 2021 at 09:52PM Model and DJ Soo Joo Park found her voice in the most unexpected of places: on the runway. More specifically, at the Chanel MĂ©tiers d’Art 2021 show in Paris. On December 7th the longtime Chanel ambassador cruised the catwalk in the new Le19M building in Paris, which acts as a working museum of sorts, housing the several hundred embroiderers, feather workers, goldsmiths, shoemakers, milliners, and other experts who are grouped together in a Chanel subsidiary called Paraffection. After her romp around the runway in one of the more subdued looks of the night — a floor-length, glittery, black tweed coat (only at Chanel can this be considered minimal), she suddenly took to a microphone to sing the finale song. For those who are slightly befuddled, you’re not alone. View this post on Instagram   A post shared by…

Prince Harry Is Allowed To Want To Quit His Job

December 08, 2021 at 09:34PM You shouldn’t have to stay in a job that’s causing harm to your mental health, right? But somehow that statement is controversial. In an article published on December 6, Prince Harry voiced his support for the rising rate of people quitting their jobs in the US, and now he’s facing backlash for it. During an interview with Fast Company about his role as Chief Impact Officer at the tech startup BetterUp, the Duke of Sussex was asked about the increase in burnout and job resignations throughout the pandemic. In response, he said this trend is “something to be celebrated.” “While on the surface it looks like these last couple of years brought all these issues to the foreground, the reality is these struggles and issues have been brewing for quite some time. We’re just at the beginning of…

Holiday Lip Colours for Every Undertone (That Aren’t Red!)

December 08, 2021 at 02:30PM Ah yes, it feels like every holiday season the age-old debate of which holiday lip colours reign supreme resurfaces — but why must it always be red? We all know the classics — from cult-favorite MAC Ruby Woo to the universally adored Dior 999. No doubt they’re gorgeous, but if they’ve been your go-to for too many holidays past, it may be time to part ways with your dearly beloved red lipstick in exchange for something new. The simplest way to find your new favourite selection of holiday lip colours? Consider your skin’s undertones. View this post on Instagram   A post shared by M·A·C Cosmetics Canada (@maccosmeticscanada) iframe.instagram-media { position: static !important; } Though she believes in wearing whatever makes you feel good (and so do we!), Toronto-based pro makeup artist Jasmin Winnie Stephen says that matching…

I Tried Snapchat’s Augmented Reality Try-On Shopping Feature

December 07, 2021 at 10:38PM This morning, I tried on nine Prada bags without ever leaving my apartment. No, I don’t have a personal stylist who comes over with my outfit options for the week (I wish). Rather, I did this using the Snapchat augmented reality (AR) try-on feature. The tool, which first launched in 2020 in a collaboration with Gucci, allows Snapchatters to use their cameras to virtually try on clothing, accessories and makeup as they move in real-time. Parent company to Snapchat, Snap Inc., continues to expand its AR try-on feature by collaborating with retailers like the aforementioned Prada, Kaja beauty, NYX Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, YSL, North Face and watch brand Piaget Polo. When trying something on, the product appeared on camera and moved with me as I moved. I could take photos and videos with each virtual item, and there…

Real Housewife Sutton Stracke’s New Collection is Not Your Grandmother’s Cashmere

December 07, 2021 at 10:21PM Sutton Stracke doesn’t know why her tiara collection has gotten so much publicity. “It’s been so blown out of proportion,” says the star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on a rainy morning in Toronto. “I only have six or seven, and I really don’t wear them that often.” But thus is the life of an American socialite, fashion aficionado and reality TV star. Ignoring the fact that six or seven crowns are at least six or seven more than most people have in their wardrobes, Stracke’s nonchalant attitude towards throwing on a “subtle tiara”— as she calls it — is precisely why she has shot to stardom. After appearing on Season 10 of the beloved Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last year, audiences quickly came to know Sutton Stracke as a Georgian-born belle with Southern charm,…
