Mejuri x Jenna Lyons is the Must-Have Collab for Minimalists

February 22, 2022 at 04:26PM Mejuri and Jenna Lyons are a match made in minimalist heaven. Lyons herself was a 2010s tastemaker, and as J. Crew’s president and executive creative director, her personal style was the beating heart of the American retailer until her departure in 2017. Approachable yet sophisticated, Lyons’ wardrobe blurred the lines between casualwear and formalwear (I mean, she wore bejeweled J. Crew pajamas to the 2015 Met Gala!). And over the years, she’s attracted a cult following not unlike that of Mejuri. Noura Sakkijha co-founded the Canadian brand in 2015 with the idea to create fine jewellery fit for everyday wear. Most importantly, her direct-to-consumer model that targeted women was, then, quite revolutionary. Like Lyons, Sakkijha reimagined the possibilities of her industry. So, it was only a matter of time before two paired up. Allyson Felix. Photography courtesy of…

Meet the Design Duo Behind Your Favourite Emily in Paris Outfits

February 21, 2022 at 12:36PM In a televised sea of unattainable lifestyles and scripted drama, fashion is one element we can replicate in reality. The transfixing glow of fashion forward television draws us into the lives and wardrobes of the best dressed characters on screen as we lose ourselves in their fictitious affairs. We may never live like them, but with stylists pulling from real life racks we can certainly dress like them. The whimsicality of luxury label Rianna + Nina’s designs lend themselves fittingly to bubbly characters like Sex and the City’s Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) in its reboot And Just Like That… and effervescent American expat Emily Cooper (Lilly Collins) in season two of Emily in Paris. The Berlin-born brand gone Hollywood dreams up one-of-a-kind designs we can shop to bridge the gap between us and our favourite fictional fashion icons.…

Secrets from Celebrity Men’s Groomer Lauren Kaye Cohen

February 18, 2022 at 03:53PM Gone are the days that male celebs would shrink away from a little men’s grooming such as some well-placed concealer or hairspray before stepping onto the red carpet. “Now my clients come in and say, ‘Make me look like you did for X person,’” says LA-based men’s groomer Lauren Kaye Cohen, who has been prepping an endless list of A-listers such as Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Leonardo DiCaprio and Rami Malek for high-profile events and photoshoots over the last 20 years. What exactly is causing this shift, you may be wondering? Beauty-conscious celebs like Timothée Chalamet, Henry Golding and Harry Styles (thanks in part to their makeup artists) have reimagined the boundaries of men’s grooming. And some experts (like TikToker Cat Quinn) note the power in primping for the “female gaze” — meaning less restriction and more creativity.…

How to Take a Street Style Photo, Per NYFW’s Elite

February 17, 2022 at 08:01PM Ignoring the fact that it’s currently the dead of winter, New York Fashion Week was bursting with wardrobe inspiration for Fall 2022. And as always, that inspiration isn’t exclusive to the runways. While neutral hues, tailored coats and cinched waists were trending on the catwalk, spring brights, bucket hats and balaclavas, and mix-and-match textures were all the rage on the streets. But that’s the name of the street-style game — you first have to be noticed before you can be photographed. And in a crowd full of well-dressed wannabes, it’s harder than it looks. In addition to picking up more than a few ideas for our next shopping trip, we also felt compelled to analyze the anatomy of a street style shot: How do you achieve that perfect, Instagram-worthy unposed pose? Fear not, we gathered our learnings for…

Julia Fox Wears the Ultimate Revenge Dress + Other Viral New York Fashion Week Moments

February 17, 2022 at 03:05PM It always seems strange to celebrate fall and winter styles just as the weather starts to creep above negative numbers, but thus is the fashion cycle. As the first stop on the Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear world tour, New York Fashion Week set the bar high, despite missing a few of its mainstay designers like Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta for various COVID-related reasons. While the biggest social media sensation was undoubtedly Julia Fox and her runway debut for LaQuan Smith, sans ex-boyfriend Kanye West (followed closely by the joyful return of fashion’s favourite pretend socialite, Blake Lively), the actual clothing also caused a stir on TikTok. Y2K wares, tailored treats and minimalist colour palettes were some of the biggest trends to come out of the week, so it will be interesting to see if…

Linda Evangelista Steps in Front of the Camera Again

February 16, 2022 at 10:15PM Linda Evangelista, who says she’s been living in seclusion for the past five years, has opened up further about her life-altering experience with the fat-freezing procedure known as CoolSculpting. “I loved being up on the catwalk. Now I dread running into someone I know,” she says in her exclusive interview with People. The story features several photos of the supermodel demonstrating how the experience left her “deformed” due to Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH), an often-overlooked side effect of CoolSculpting, which delivers the exact opposite results one is looking for when undergoing the non-invasive, multi-treatment procedure. Instead of eliminating fat cells, the fat-freezing process actually causes the tissues to eventually thicken and expand. View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Linda Evangelista (@lindaevangelista) Said to affect less than one per cent of patients, Linda Evangelista says…

The Ultra-Mini Skirt is Back. But Where’s the Body Inclusivity?

February 16, 2022 at 09:48PM When leggy models strutted down the Miu Miu runway last October with belly buttons, hipbones and upper thighs on display, the Italian fashion house had marked the return of the low-rise, ultra-mini skirt. After a summer of Y2K revivals (like the “whale tail” exposed thong and “coconut girl” aesthetic), Miuccia Prada’s presentation upped the ante for early 2000s nostalgia. But by tapping exclusively thin models to wear its skin baring line, the luxury label proved it was living in the past. oh god!me in this miu miu skirt when pic.twitter.com/jEm39I5sel — ~~~~卂ㄥ乇乂丨乇~~~~ (@AlexieMcqueens) February 16, 2022 Over the past few months, models like Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber have worn the ultra-mini skirt on casual outings, and the garment’s been praised as a symbol of fashion’s return to fun, experimental and risqué dressing. It only makes sense, then, that…
