The History of the White Shirt at the Oscars, from Sharon Stone to Zendaya

March 28, 2022 at 11:04PM Oscars night is the pinnacle of red carpet fashion. It’s where the glitz and glamour of Hollywood is on full display as celebrities dress up in custom designs and haute couture. But sometimes the simplest style choices are the most memorable. Such was the case at this year’s Oscars, when the humble white button-up shirt made it’s return to the red carpet — most memorably on Zendaya. The Dune star wore a custom Valentino ensemble that comprised a white satin cropped blouse and a sequined silver skirt that trailed behind her. The look was seemingly a homage to one of the most memorable Oscars get-ups of all time: Sharon Stone’s outfit in 1998. Zendaya’s look totally reminded me of Sharon Stone’s 1998 Oscars look and I’m here for the late ‘90s vibes pic.twitter.com/BNDifqgJxF — Velvet Coke (@missvelvey) March 27,…

I Tested HOKA’s Kawana Shoe At Their Community Workout Event. Here’s How It Went

March 28, 2022 at 01:00PM For just over a year now, I’ve dedicated an hour every day to moving my body. Whether I walk, run, strength train, or all of the above, scheduling in this time has helped me focus on my health and since this shift, I’ve felt more energetic—both physically and mentally. Plus: It always helps to have an excuse to buy cute workout gear (if you look good, you feel good, right?). So I was excited to test out HOKA’s popular Kawana shoes to see how they supported my feet through my many workouts. This California-based athletic footwear and apparel brand prides itself on its mission of empowering people to move—in any way that brings them joy. The shoes are designed with exactly that in mind; with enhanced cushioning and a meticulously-engineered midsole that makes every step feel supported. But…

All the Best Red Carpet Looks from the 2022 Oscars

March 27, 2022 at 11:54PM The Oscars is like the Superbowl of red carpets, but instead of a bunch of men in shoulder pads and helmets, you get A-listers in designer gowns and suits. After last year’s soirée was curtailed thanks to COVID, anticipation for the 94th Academy Awards is high (I mean, how many pre-parties does one event need?!). But almost as exciting as the red carpet are the nominees for the 2022 Oscars, which include Andrew Garfield, Will Smith, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst (finally!), to name a few. See all the looks from the 2022 Oscars red carpet below. I Took the Plunge and Tried Cold Water Therapy. Here’s What Happened

March 25, 2022 at 06:54PM “Our aim is to deliver peak experiences of awe and connection, and your experience is super-boosted to the moon — to the moon!” I’m sitting in a dimly lit lounge surrounded by half-naked 30-somethings, each of us listening with rapt attention as Othership co-founder Harrison Taylor gets pumped about the experience before us. There are about 25 people here on a Friday night for the club’s hot-cold session, and by show of hands, I’m the only one who’s yet to take the plunge. “Put the hot and cold together and the contrast between the two is way more than the sum of its parts,” Harrison continues. “We are doing deep work here together. We are transforming ourselves, physiologically, down to the cellular level.” Othership Studio in Toronto. Photography by Graydon HerriotOthership, which offers both guided and self-guided sauna/ice…

Tefi On Being the Internet’s Best Friend

March 25, 2022 at 04:05PM Pink-haired Tefi Pessoa acts as some sort of flowery shield to the mean and self-deprecating noise inside your head, but instead of telling you to be strong, she encourages you to stay soft, reminds you of your worth and makes you laugh like a close friend. A proven pop culture scholar who got her start on YouTube, Tefi counts 1.3 million followers on TikTok who come to devour her deep dives into the lives of celebrities, all backed by rigorous research and delivered with her signature sense of humour (that is, hilariously blunt). This Canadian Designer on Why You Should Moisturize Your Leather Bag

March 25, 2022 at 01:54PM Without sounding too much like a cliché, Stephanie Sonya Ibbitson’s whole life has been leading to the creation of her accessories brand Sonya Lee. “I’ve been gathering my skill set since childhood, and it’s all culminated into this,” the designer says over video chat. “I was really crafty when I was a kid, and I have Dyslexia, so I struggled in school. I felt like the only way that I could succeed was by creating something with my hands.” Her obsession with her mom’s handbags and clothing encouraged Ibbitson to add sewing to her other creative pursuits. When she decided to pursue industrial design at OCAD in Toronto, the rest was history. Photography by Briggs OgloffLaunched in 2014, Sonya Lee has now come to define modern minimalism. Easy-to-wear styles and contemporary classics with a twist have become pillars…
