The Disappointment Over Olivia Rodrigo’s Merch Isn’t That Surprising

August 13, 2021 at 07:01PM Merch is an important part of any music fandom. This is particularly true in the COVID age of streaming and digital performances, where artists can’t connect with fans in physical spaces like they used to. Buying an artist’s merchandise is a way to directly support them while feeling a sort of kinship with other fans, and the collective experience of their music. It’s also important for the artist, who can make a substantial profit through merchandise sales. When pop music’s current it-girl Olivia Rodrigo debuted her merch online back in May, there was much anticipation from fans. For starters, Rodrigo’s website was carefully curated with a colour scheme and tone to match her newly released album, Sour. The online shop featured pieces inspired by Rodrigo’s signature Y2K style beloved by her largely Gen Z fan base, like bucket…

Tina Knowles Is, in Fact, in BeyoncĂ©’s Ivy Park Rodeo Campaign: “That’s Me on a Horse”

August 13, 2021 at 05:52PM BeyoncĂ©’s new Ivy Park Rodeo collection for Adidas, which includes childrenswear for the first time, comes with a campaign that’s truly a family affair. Aside from celebrity appearances, such as Glynn Turman, who actually made his ranch available for the shoot, BeyoncĂ© included all three of her children - oh, and her mom Tina Knowles-Lawson, who shared some behind-the-scenes footage from set. “At the ranch on a cow … a mechanical cow,” Tina said in one video, showing off the cowboy hat she was styled in. She also posted some background info about what went into setting the scene to capture the Ivy Park lookbook: “That’s me on a horse for the first time in about 25 years. Some people have been saying "I thought that was Beyonce”. I am in my IVY PARK and my cowboy boots…

The Muses From Hercules Have Nothing on Lizzo and Cardi B’s Sexy Outfits in “Rumors”

August 13, 2021 at 05:26PM Disney, if you still haven’t cast the Muses in that live-action Hercules movie of yours, consider Lizzo and Cardi B’s “Rumors” music video their official audition for the role. The musical duo channeled Greek goddesses for the production, dripping in gold from head to toe and wearing some seriously sexy outfits that rival the Muses’ body-hugging gowns. Let’s break down and fully appreciate each fashion moment, shall we? The “Rumors” video kicks off with Lizzo in a shimmery toga-like dress styled with a smattering of jewelry and metallic sandals with shin protectors Ă  la Hercules. After she struts among larger-than-life vases and dances atop a giant Greek column, Cardi B enters on the Mount Olympus-inspired scene in a baby bump-baring getup. While unraveling a seemingly endless scroll, she sports a gold breastplate and arm cuff custom-made by Misha…

Rihanna Is a 2000s Flashback in $1,850 Balenciaga Jeans and a Harley Davidson Top

August 13, 2021 at 04:20PM Rihanna enjoyed date night in New York City wearing a look influenced by the early aughts. Styled by Jahleel Weaver, the billionaire and major icon was in pieces plucked from luxury fashion houses, including her deconstructed, baggy Balenciaga jeans that cost nearly $2K, her silk headscarf, and her camo leather bowling bag. Rihanna strapped her snakeskin slingbacks over the heels of her denim and let gingham, khaki-colored boxers peek out from the waistband to add more dimension. On top, she wore Connor Ives’s reconstituted Harley halter, which is still available to shop and reminds us of the legendary brands we used to rep proudly in the 2000s. Accessories like multilayered choker necklaces, dark, square sunglasses, and mismatched earrings finished off her outfit for the evening, which was ultimately the most polished ensemble we’ve seen created from such rugged…

I’m Buzzing About Rens Slip-On Sneakers Made From Used Coffee Grounds. Are You?

August 13, 2021 at 01:30PM I was THAT college student who was utterly convinced they’d built up a tolerance to caffeine because of the copious amounts of coffee consumed to power through peer reviews and midterm papers. Though I’ve sworn off caffeine for health reasons - it has been two whole years since it’s run through my veins! - I still have a love for all things coffee. This was why my cup-of-Joe-devoted heart was extra intrigued to hear that Rens Original shoes, launched in 2019 by Jesse Tran and Son Chu, both Vietnamese and living in Finland, were made out of coffee waste. Getting into logistics, each Rens sneaker consists of six recycled plastic bottles and 150 grams of coffee grounds. The outsole is natural rubber, and the yarn derived from coffee waste contains antibacterial and antiodor properties. “Ren” also means “clean”…

Friday Faves

Friday FavesAugust 13, 2021 at 11:43AM Hi hi! Happy Friday and three cheers for the weekend. How did the week go? Ours was a good one and a bit of a blur. The kids are pumped to be back in school but I’ve gotta say, it was pretty nice sleeping late and staying in our pajamas while it lasted. 🙂 Even so, I’m looking forward to a glimpse of what a routine is like and having some work/productivity blocks. I feel like a better mom when I’m not stressed about work stuff and can get most of my stuff done while they’re at school. What do you have going on this weekend? It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite picks from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about…

Angelina Jolie Wore the Trouser Trend That’s Fresher Than Cropped Skinny Pants

August 13, 2021 at 08:00AM Angelina Jolie’s outfits always catch our attention, but especially when she’s in Paris (because who doesn’t love to see what people wear in Paris?). Jolie was recently in the City of Lights with her kids wearing a characteristically chic outfit. She wore her signature neutral color palette, opting for a white T-shirt, tan accessories and the subject of this story: full-length wide-leg khaki pants. If trouser muses were a thing (and perhaps they are), Angelina Jolie would be at the top of the list. You may recall that Jolie recently wore wide-leg jeans to the airport, and the look basically went viral. Wide-leg, full-length pants are a staple of hers, and they’ve pretty much taken the place of cropped skinny trousers for the time being—just see Jennifer Lawrence, Kendall Jenner and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for confirmation. Scroll on to see how she expertly styled them…
