The Colour Trends Coming to an Instagram Feed Near You

September 11, 2021 at 06:00AM Perhaps to make up for the lack of colour in both our lives and our wardrobes over the last 18 months, the fashion world has brought in the sartorial big guns for A/W 21 and delivered a spectrum of saturated shades that wouldn’t look out of place at a primary school. Weary of the neutral and monochrome palettes that have pervaded recent seasons, big-name designers including Prada, Bottega Veneta and Versace sent cobalt blue, Kermit green (yes, it’s a thing), Barbie pink and fire-engine red down their runways. It was the injection of feel-good fashion endorphins that we all needed. As always, where high-end brands go, the high-street follows, and as we enter September, we've started to see eye-popping brights trickle into the new-season edits of Arket, Zara and H&M. While some people might instinctively shy away from the extraversion of this colour trend, rest assured that…

4 Vintage Shopping Experts Just Told Me What’s on Their Wish Lists

September 11, 2021 at 06:00AM I get it—secondhand and vintage shopping isn’t for everyone, but for me is a real treat. The bargains I’ve found: from a ÂŁ15 Aquascutum jacket to a ÂŁ110 classic Burberry trench coat, as well as an embroidered cardigan French influencer and founder of Rouje, Jeanne Damas complimented me on. Not to mention the pieces of vintage sportswear I wear religiously and a checked shirt I bought for ÂŁ3 from the Salvation Army charity shop, which I still wear 11 years on. Outside of COVD times, I genuinely loved nothing more than browsing my favourite retro clothing shops. However, right now, I have to settle for the digital options available—thankfully they are plentiful. From Etsy to eBay as well as Vestiaire Collective and Oxfam’s online store, there are many ways to find pre-loved items. This month many people in the fashion world are celebrating…

These Are the Only Products That Give My Thin Hair Serious Volume

September 11, 2021 at 06:00AM People often get a little bit confused when I harp on about my thin hair. “Your hair isn’t even that thin,” they say. However, it’s important to note that just because somebody has a lot of hair, doesn’t mean it’s thick. My hair is long, sure, but when my locks are overdue for a cut, they look scraggly, and my lack of actual strands becomes all too apparent. However, that’s not to say that my hair isn’t consistently thin all over. At the nape of my neck, I’d say I have an average amount of hair, but as you move your attention toward the crown of my head, you could probably count the individual hairs sprouting out of my scalp. Over the years, I’ve become somewhat self-conscious of the bald(ish) patch where my thin hair parts at the crown of…

12 Skincare Products That I Always Recommend as a Beauty Journalist

September 11, 2021 at 06:00AM As a beauty journalist, I often get a lot of people asking for my skincare and makeup recommendations. I can’t lie—it’s a pretty good feeling. I’m lucky enough to be gifted with new products to try out on a weekly basis, but as someone who’s always had an interest in beauty, a lot of the products I own I purchased myself. There’s truly nothing better than testing out products that catch your eye. Fortunately, even if I try a product that I’m not necessarily fond of, I always have a friend to take it off my hands. My thorough skincare journey started a year and a half ago. I’d had an intense panic attack that left me in bed for a few weeks feeling as though I’d lost all control of my life. However, I soon discovered that creating my own a.m.…

If You Love This Season’s Checked Trend, You Need to See Mango’s Latest Drop

September 11, 2021 at 06:00AM It’s not often that a high-street fashion brand invests heavily in a niche seasonal trend, but clearly, Mango knew what it was doing when it created its Checkers Game capsule. Composed of a tight edit of autumn-ready pieces fashioned out of dramatic checked fabrics, this collection will be a dream for those of us who have been enjoying A/W 21’s foray into graphic prints. Needless to say, every member of the Who What Wear editorial team is besotted. After a quick survey, it transpired that the leading looks in the collection included the checked long-sleeve turtleneck, which will be a godsend in the layering department this season, whether it’s under a white shirt or a summer dress or styled with wide-leg trousers. The minidress was another winner thanks to its retro appeal and stylish flared sleeves. We think it would…

The Fashion People Have Spoken: These 8 Brands Currently Rule

September 11, 2021 at 05:23AM In the ever-changing game of “which brand does everyone want to buy now?” there are a few obvious blockbuster fashion houses that have remained at the top of the tree for some time. You all know Bottega Veneta is still trending, that Gucci is still very desirable and that, given half a chance and an heiress-level bank account, we’d snap up everything from The Row. But what of the less obvious labels that fashion people are clamouring to get? Which pieces are in high demand for photoshoots, celebrity outfits, Instagram snaps and—due to the timing right now—fashion month street style opportunities? What are the names we’re constantly talking about in the office, and where do we most commonly see “sold out” signs? Well, this is what the below story is for—to highlight the most popular brands for autumn 2021. There’s a Jekyll…

It’s No Surprise J Lo Chose This Sexy Gown For Her Red Carpet Comeback With Ben Affleck

September 10, 2021 at 09:50PM We may have first heard about Bennifer’s rekindled romance months ago, but the couple had yet to make an official red carpet appearance … until now. That’s right, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck hit the carpet together for the first time since the Gigli premiere in 2003, and in true J Lo fashion, she chose a jaw-dropping dress for the big occasion. For The Last Dune premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Friday, the multi-hypenate wore a satin white couture gown from Georges Hobeika featuring a plunging neckline embellished with pure white crystals, as well as a high leg slit. She paired the stunning look with sparkly Cartier jewelry and a very handsome Ben Affleck on her arm, who wore a smart tux that let J Lo’s dress do the talking. Ahead, get a closer view at…

I’ll Be Wearing This $12 T-Shirt All Fall Long

September 10, 2021 at 09:35PM Fall will be here faster than you can say “pumpkin spice,” so now’s a better time than any to stock up on your cold weather essentials. But, while everyone has been adding sweaters and boots to their e-carts, I’ve been on a desperate search for the perfect T-shirt. You see, I live in San Francisco, where it’s sunny, gorgeous, and temperate year-round. So, I wanted to find a somewhat elevated tee that I could slip underneath my jackets, but isn’t so heavy that I would overheat. Fortunately, I found a little slice of fashion perfection with A New Day’s Elbow Sleeve Mock Turtleneck T- Shirt ($12). Made with a cotton-modal blend, this shirt is ultra-soft and lightweight. (Basically, it’s like a second skin.) The sleeves hit nicely at the elbow, striking a happy medium between a tee and…

Is ChloĂ«’s Hot Pink Hourglass Blazer the Star of “Have Mercy,” or What?

September 10, 2021 at 08:18PM Forgive me, Zerina Akers, for fixating all of my attention on just one of ChloĂ«’s looks in the “Have Mercy” video, but I just can’t help myself. The hot pink, plaid hourglass blazer that Bailey’s stylist scored her for the very first shot is just that phenomenal. Since it’s from high-fashion street wear brand Area, it does cost a pretty penny (just under $2k), but is not your average blazer what with the crystal-embellished pocket flaps, dĂ©colletage-framing sweetheart neckline, cinched waist, and eye-catching cutout at the back. Zerina and ChloĂ« decided to style it with hotpants, square sunglasses, and a dazzling diamond choker necklace to play up the details, and we are certainly feeling the vibe. Even though we also see ChloĂ« in a metallic Alexandre Vauthier Couture jacket, shapely Schiaparelli number, and custom Rey Ortiz two-piece throughout…
