I Predict That In 2022, Everyone Will Dress Like It’s 2002

October 11, 2021 at 06:03AM Each season, as fashion month begins editors, influencers and general fashion enthusiasts are bombarded with new season styles. With four separate cities putting on events and several shows each day, there’s a veritable banquet of looks and designers to keep track of. And while newness is of course the name of the game, this season I found myself experiencing a recurring sense of dĂ©jĂ  vu.From New York to Milan and Paris, several influencer designers and brands sent looks down the runway which felt oddly familiar, immediately conjuring up nostalgia for the early 2000s. Miu Miu created barely there mini skirts adorned with box pleats and thin belts, a look which Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and every other Y2K It girl heavily invested in back in 2002. While cargo trousers (yes, cargo trousers!) were back on the agenda at Tom Ford, validating the…

I Was Getting Bored of Makeup Until I Discovered This Brand

October 11, 2021 at 06:00AM I’m going to come clean: Over the last few weeks I’ve been experiencing what can only be described as product fatigue. Of course, one of the best parts of my job as a beauty editor is getting the chance to try out the latest beauty products, but every now and then the sheer volume of newness can get a little overwhelming. After all, we’re creatures of habits at heart and having to constantly switch in new products and pass along ones that aren’t quite right can feel like a lot—especially when you’re about to embark on testing your 17th new moisturiser of the month. Suffice to say, I've been dealing with some product burnout lately, particularly with regards to my makeup bag where I just can’t seem to summon the enthusiasm to test out new things. Like many people, I’m still working from…

I Just Found the Best Jeans From Arket, & Other Stories and Weekday

October 11, 2021 at 06:00AM As boring as it sounds, there aren’t many of us who could live, sartorially-speaking, without our favourite jeans. They’re the easiest thing to grab-and-go, whether you’re meeting friends for brunch at the weekend or getting a little dressy for date night. Arguably one of the most democratising items of clothing, jeans can be found at every price point and in every cut, colour and finish you could imagine. Flare, high-waisted, bleached, distressed, cropped—choose your fighter. On the high street, Arket, & Other Stories and Weekday are universally considered the creme de la creme of denim by fashion editors, who prize them for both their variety and purse-friendly price points. Of course, we find that jeans shopping is one of those deeply personal things, so you can’t be too prescriptive, but these 3 brands have a pretty high shopping success rate in our experience. …

The #1 Hair Mistake We’re All Making, According to Stylists

October 11, 2021 at 06:00AM We know how it is, you’ve already taken hours washing and conditioning your hair. Perhaps you even sprung for a pre-wash treatment like a hot oil or maybe the Olaplex No. 3, your hair is in tip top condition and has already got ample product in it, does it really need another one applied before you heat style? The short answer is yes. Using a heat protector single-handedly keeps hair safe under the soaring temperatures of your hairdryers, straighteners, curlers and wands. The amount of my friends that admit that they’ll often go in on their strands without any heat protection is baffling to me. It’s futile putting all that effort into keeping your hair healthy with conditioners and treatments and then using 180c degree heat on it without a shield. It’s like taking a dish out of a hot oven…

Sorry, Ben, but We Can’t Stop Staring at J Lo and Her Ab-Baring HervĂ© LĂ©ger Outfit

October 10, 2021 at 04:35PM Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for Bennifer. On Saturday night, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck hit the red carpet together for the New York City premiere of The Last Duel, and all eyes were on J Lo and her perfectly toned obliques. Sorry, Ben, but when Jennifer pulled out this fabulously sparkly brown set from HervĂ© LĂ©ger, she knew the effect it would have on us. Styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, Jennifer’s cropped mock turtleneck and slightly high-waisted skirt with a thigh-high slit matched perfectly with her brown Tom Ford clutch and Femme LA heels. She also wore gold Jennifer Fisher rings. It was a big night out for the couple, as Ben cowrote and stars in The Last Duel, which hits theaters on Oct. 15. And we’d be remiss not to mention when…

The Dress-and-Boot Combos That Work Every Time

October 10, 2021 at 06:31AM If you can find a more iconic fashion duo than the dress-and-boot combo, do tell. This pairing is so easy to fall back on right now when the days are shortening and the weather is dull so we’re not able to get as creative with our wardrobes. Grab a go-to dress, throw on a pair of sheer tights and your favourite boots and you’re ready. We’ve spotted some of our favourite influencers wearing excellent dress-and-boot combinations recently, which inspired us to start the shopping list below. Although you can be pretty safe in the knowledge that most boot styles go with most dresses, these street style looks might just inspire you to leave your comfort zone and try a new pairing this season. I’m on the lookout for the perfect black chunky pair to balance out the feminine maxi dresses I’m lusting…

These Cheap Moisturisers Are Just as Good as Their Expensive Counterparts

October 10, 2021 at 08:00AM A good moisturiser is a skincare staple. Second only to thoroughly cleaning the skin with a great cleanser, a moisturising cream is the most important step in your routine to ensure you’re flooding the skin with hydration and vital antioxidants. Plus, a good one will act as the final step in protecting your skin against environmental aggressors during the day and will help your skin cells recharge and rejuvenate overnight. The problem with many moisturisers, however, is that they can be the most expensive element of a good skincare routine. With clever active ingredients and luxe textures, when it comes to the final step of your routine, you can expect to pay a little more, but that doesn’t mean you should have to.There are now some seriously amazing dupes out there from more affordable brands—all of which offer a high-quality product…

French Women Were Right All Along: This Is the Best Dress Trend Ever

October 10, 2021 at 08:00AM The knitted dress trend has come back in a seriously big way in 2021. You might not have realised this because in many ways it’s the kind of frock that never really goes out of fashion. However, there’s one key component of this year’s style that French women have been wearing forever. When it comes to knitted dresses in France, les françaises are more likely to opt for a fitted version. No saggy, loose-fitting sacks for our friends across the channel—thank you very much. Instead, it’s about considered knitwear that is more body-con and has some kind of structure. Case in point: Khaite’s chic black version which I spotted on Camille Charrière some time ago. The sweetheart neckline is what really makes this dress sing, but I love the demure nature of the long sleeves, too. This season, the brand has brought…

People Don’t Believe My Mom Is 71—Here Are 8 Anti-Ageing Serums She Uses

October 10, 2021 at 08:00AM Six years ago, my family experienced a huge scare when my then 65-year-old mom was rushed to the ER in order to receive an emergency cardioversion—aka a medical paddle used to restart her heart. The day before the trip to the emergency room, we’d been travelling, and my mom (who has since discovered she has an extreme sensitivity to sugar) had a pumpkin spice latte and an almond-filled French pastry for breakfast and then later on after dinner a small vanilla ice cream cone. As she explains, it was enough sugar (at least for her) to send her heart into atrial fibrillation, or an uneven heart rhythm.“As scary as the experience was, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise,” she tells me. “I banished heavy sugar doses from my diet and noticed that my skin started…
