Rihanna is one proud mom – just look at her jewelry collection for all the proof you need. On Feb. 9, the multi-hyphenate stepped out for a Super Bowl halftime show press conference wearing a “mom” ring as a subtle, stylish nod to her and A$AP Rocky’s son. The gold nameplate-style ring displays her latest title in cursive font, underlined by a wavy row of small diamonds. It appears to be a custom piece from XIV Karats, a Beverly Hills jeweler Rihanna has repped on numerous occasions in the past.
Rihanna wore the sentimental ring on her left index finger alongside a Messika’s diamond Toi et Moi ring. Both were the finishing touches to an outfit consisting of a double-slit crocodile-print Alaïa skirt, shearling-lined leather jacket, and custom Gianvito Rossi sandals that laced up all the way past her knees. The entire look was put together by her stylist and creative director, Jahleel Weaver, who also chose her Golden Globes dress last month.
As if Rihanna’s “mom” ring wasn’t cute enough on its own, some observant fans discovered A$AP Rocky has a similar “dad” ring, which he showed off while promoting new music on Instagram in December. Perhaps they’ll both wear their coordinating rings on the Oscars red carpet next month? We’re manifesting it.
During the press conference, Rihanna admitted that motherhood inspired her to take on the challenge of performing at the big game. “When you become a mom there’s something that just happens where you feel like you can take on anything and do anything,” she said. “As scary as that was because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all.”
