December is a time when I’m not ashamed to compete for attention with the 2000 lights of the 10-ft Fraser fir that overwhelms my tiny Toronto apartment. From crystal earrings to sparkly bracelets, beaded headbands, and glimmering shimmering necklaces — if it can be draped, wrapped, hooked or hung, every branch of my body deserves a bauble. If what we wear is a form of communication about how we see ourselves and the world, a holiday glow-up, both literally and figuratively, expresses that I am joyful, thankful and merry; I am cozy, comfortable, loved and loving. Never Have I Ever’s Maitreyi Ramakrishnan Wears a Rainbow Dress Made From Upcycled Sarees

December 13, 2021 at 05:04PM In case you needed any further proof that Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s rainbow dress is anything short of spectacular, we invite you to look beyond the colors and gold embroidery for a moment. Ramakrishnan’s stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer (who is also known for styling Taylor Swift’s looks and music videos) sourced Maitreyi this piece from Indian designer Ashwin Thiyagarajan, who sewed together upcycled sarees to craft the dress with a sweetheart neckline and fitted, bustier style bodice. The banarasi panels you see here are all from fabric used in Ashwin’s previous collections, making the number even more significant and reflective of the brand’s DNA. Halsey’s outfit in particular struck us as unique, and we were not surprised to find out why. It’s a white bustier minidress lined with thick black piping and complete with a glittering train of textured drapery that decorates the bodice from top to bottom - a piece from Kamilla Purshie’s youthful and sensual spring/summer 2022 collection.
