Gwyneth Paltrow Wore This Item Almost Every Day in the ’90s—Now It’s Back

December 11, 2021 at 06:06AM I may have been born at the tail end of the ‘80s, but I still consider myself to be a '90s child. I wore floral leggings with oversize T-shirts, tied my hair with a rainbow of scrunchies, and donned my light-up trainers with pride. Of course, perhaps with the exception of the scrunchie, I would never wear such items now, but it seems there are a plethora of cool '90s trends I missed out on because of my age. And the most notable has to be the leather blazer.Practically the uniform of the '90s A-list elite—think Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Cindy Crawford—the leather blazer was easily the coolest cover-up of the decade. Most commonly worn with slip dresses, vintage denim, or a pair of tiny rectangle sunglasses, it now appears the throw-on is making a comeback and…

5 Trends We’ll Be Swerving for 2022—and the Ones We’ll Wear Instead

December 11, 2021 at 06:05AM Keeping up with the latest trends is a full-time job (we know—we do it), and sometimes it can be overwhelming deciphering which ones to actually try out. This year, everyone has fully embraced trying out new looks. We’ve seen G-string dresses, straps thinner than dental floss and the return of low-rise jeans. And some of these trends are ones no one actually asked for (we’re looking at you, low-rise jeans), but of course, fashion people have tried them nonetheless. As we look to 2022, though, we’re thinking of the items that actually deserve a place in our wardrobes for the long haul. Sure, it’s great to try out microtrends, but we’re turning our attention to timeless, classic pieces. So much so the Who What Wear fashion team has thought long and hard about the trends they’ll be leaving behind and the…

However, if getting dressed to the nines isn’t your thing, then rest assured there’s another option at your disposal. Thanks to a host of brands—from Nensi Dojaka to Ganni, Zara to Rixo—the going-out top is back in a big way this season, making for the ideal alternative to frocks and jazzy two-pieces. The perfect accompaniment to your trusty jeans or simple skirting, a stand-out top with a pared-back bottom half is the cool-girl way to do party dressing. The fabrics high on the agenda include all-over sequins, lamĂ©, satin, metallics and, of course, velvet. West Side Story’s Costume Designer On Bringing New Meaning to the Remake’s Wardrobe

December 11, 2021 at 01:20AM After more than six decades since its original release on Broadway, Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story hit theaters on Dec. 10. Set in 1957 New York City, the Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired remake, tells the story of two rival gangs - the Sharks, a Latinx group who migrated from Puerto Rico; and the Jets, a Caucasian group from New York City. The story follows the conflict associated with the two over their fight to claim territory, mixed in with a forbidden love story between Puerto Rican born Maria (Rachel Zegler) and New Yorker, Tony (Ansel Eglort). Costuming, designed by Tony Award-winning designer Paul Tazewell, known for his work in Hamilton, In the Heights, The Color Purple, found the experience honorable and inspiring. “It blew my mind that I would even have the opportunity to approach designing West Side Story,” Tazewell told…

The Ivy Park Halls of Ivy Collection Is Here – See What’s Left to Shop!

December 10, 2021 at 08:14PM Dropping on Dec. 10, the latest Ivy Park drip comes hot on the heels of its Peloton collaboration that included bright neon activewear and the 58-piece rodeo lineup that celebrated the impact of Black men and women on American Western culture. Now, we have a splashy campaign for the Halls of Ivy Collection, with cameos from Natalia Bryant and Ava and Deacon Phillippe (Reese Witherspoon’s offspring), and an adorable matching family moment from BeyoncĂ© and her kids. As for the clothes, the lineup is, as you might expect, prep-school inspired - but complete with a streetwear-focused, atheleisure bend. Houndstooth prints are playfully reimagined on body-hugging leggings and sports bras, hoodies, and even pool slides, while plaid blazers are meant to be layered over tees and zip-ups, and suit pants are less tailored, resembling track pants. The looks, like…

Tracee Ellis Ross Posts a High Fashion Holiday Card I Want to Hang on My Fridge

December 10, 2021 at 07:46PM If there ever was a high fashion holiday card I’d want to hang on my refrigerator, it’d have Tracee Ellis Ross’s face on it. So personally, I felt it was perfectly appropriate to see the multi-hyphenate star pop up on my feed, decking the halls in Bottega Veneta from head to toe. She was headed to the brand’s Soho store opening in New York City alongside stylish partygoers like Tommy Dorfman, Lil Kim, and Richie Shazam, outfitted by longtime stylist Karla Welch in a liquid sequin fall 2020 turtleneck gown. Ross accessorized with the covetable pouch everybody wants and, surprisingly, a pair of Bottega’s Puddle boots in kiwi, which lent a decidedly casual touch. Of course, she pulled off the unexpected combination with ease, showing off all angles of look, including the cutout at the back of the…
