Best of 2021: The Red Carpet Fashion Trends that Defined Celebrity Style

December 08, 2021 at 09:37PM The red carpet officially reopened for 2021, and the best-dressed stars of the year made it worth the wait. Of the most memorable moments, our favorite celebrity fashion trends were surreal gold hardware, colorful ostrich feathers, leather opera gloves, celestial caped sleeves, and extreme cut-outs - and we know the best way to style them. The appeal of surreal gold hardware started at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival with Bella Hadid’s breathtaking branched lungs gown. The black dress, designed by Daniel Roseberry for surrealist atelier Schiaparelli, featured a fitted, long-sleeve silhouette with subtle leg of mutton sleeves and a completely exposed, open-bust. Hadid’s bust was covered by a necklace with a massive pair of branched lungs for the pendant. Zendaya also wowed us at the 2021 Ballon d'Or football awards with an open-back, black gown by Roberto Cavalli…

Prince Harry Is Allowed To Want To Quit His Job

December 08, 2021 at 09:34PM You shouldn’t have to stay in a job that’s causing harm to your mental health, right? But somehow that statement is controversial. In an article published on December 6, Prince Harry voiced his support for the rising rate of people quitting their jobs in the US, and now he’s facing backlash for it. During an interview with Fast Company about his role as Chief Impact Officer at the tech startup BetterUp, the Duke of Sussex was asked about the increase in burnout and job resignations throughout the pandemic. In response, he said this trend is “something to be celebrated.” “While on the surface it looks like these last couple of years brought all these issues to the foreground, the reality is these struggles and issues have been brewing for quite some time. We’re just at the beginning of…

Jodie Turner-Smith on the Costumes That Helped Her Become Anne Boleyn

December 08, 2021 at 09:25PM Regarding her preparation for the role of Anne Boleyn in AMC’s new eponymous series, Jodie Turner-Smith noted the power of the period-piece costumes she wore. “I think costume is a really fun part of acting, and also a part that allows you to literally walk in the shoes of the character that you play,” she told POPSUGAR while explaining how the wardrobe itself helped her to take on the role of the famous Tudor queen in a very tangible way. “Even just the way that those gowns are constructed. There’s a certain posture that you must assume in order to walk in one, the way that they move is something that adds a certain life.” Her transformation for the series, which makes its United States debut on Dec. 9, is stunning, featuring bright-colored gowns and corsets, complete with…

I Found the Perfect Slip-Ons For Errands and Dog Walking (but Shhh, They’re Actually Slippers)

December 08, 2021 at 08:05PM It’s nearly winter, and I’ve finally come to grips with reality when it comes to my footwear. While I’ll put on a full-length coat and even gloves much of the time, I was walking my pup in sandals up until a few weeks ago. As any dog owner can surely relate, when it comes to early-morning and late-night trips, I just can’t be bothered with shoes that require lacing or zipping, and honestly, pulling on slip-on sneakers with my hands is too much actual effort when in a rush. I had been eyeing moccasins as an alternative since it’s easier to just slide a foot in (especially if they’re a bit roomy) but hadn’t been looking for actual slippers until I spotted these Old Navy Plaid Faux-Fur Trim Moccasin Slippers ($22, originally $25). Not only are they especially…

Uh, Old Navy Just Came Out With the Most Flattering $40 Leggings, and I’m Obsessed

December 08, 2021 at 07:25PM They say a dog is a man’s best friend, and I believe leggings are a woman’s. The comfortable pants have become part of my everyday wardrobe (much to my wallet’s dismay), and I rarely ever wear anything else. Perfect for that athleisure look I opt for when I don’t know what to wear, leggings are the go-to piece I can count on for when I want to look just good enough yet put in little to no effort. Unfortunately, athleticwear usually comes with an unreasonable price tag, and while I have succumbed to paying the price a time or two, I can’t always justify buying overpriced leggings when other brands carry them for much less. I used to think that buying more affordable workout pants would mean that I would be risking the quality, but after trying a…

Ariana Grande Channeled Britney Spears’s ’90s Tour Outfit, and the Nostalgia Runneth Over

December 08, 2021 at 06:11PM Ariana Grande has hit us, baby, one more time with her Britney Spears obsession. After recently treating fans to a cover of “Oops!… I Did It Again” on Jimmy Fallon’s new That’s My Jam game show, Ariana paid fashionable tribute to the music icon on The Voice this week. Sticking to the Monday episode’s ‘90s night theme, she wore an outfit inspired by one of Britney’s most memorable …Baby One More Time Tour looks from 1999: the famous hot pink tube top and white pants with pink knee patches. Ariana’s iteration of the costume incorporated some modern-day upgrades - she swapped white platform sneakers for white Giambattista Valli platform boots, her crop top was lined in rhinestones, and her flared pants were far more high-waisted than Brit’s were back in the day - but her homage to the…

Christina Aguilera Re-Created This Unforgettable “Dirrty” Era Look at the PCAs

December 08, 2021 at 05:51PM Christina Aguilera brought us back to the early 2000s at Tuesday night’s People’s Choice Awards, and she went all out. The veteran triple threat, who was honored with the show’s first-ever music icon award, not only performed a nostalgic medley of her old hits like “Genie in a Bottle,” “Dirrty,” and “Beautiful,” but she also dressed in an inspired look from that very era. Wearing a black and yellow corset bodysuit, flared pants, and chaps to match, Christina reminded us of a memorable performance of hers back in the day, when she sang “Dirrty” during an MTV Stripped concert in 2002. Back then, she’d worn a similar black and yellow bikini top, chaps, and uh, tennis wristbands, with her signature black hair extensions at the time. The singer rocked the nostalgic re-creation on the PCAs red carpet, as…
