The Byredo Scents That Are Worth Your Money, Ranked by Me

January 20, 2022 at 06:03AM At this point, I’ve smelled almost every Byredo fragrance there is. It’s easy to see why the Stockholm-based brand is so popular; in addition to the incredibly chic and minimal packaging, the unisex scents are as unique as they come yet undoubtedly wearable and intriguing as well. Trust me—everyone will ask you what scent you’re wearing when you spray on Byredo, and anything you buy from the brand is worthy of the price tag, but I’m here to help you narrow it down (there are so many good ones to choose from). For my own fragrance-buying mission and for your fragrance-buying missions (I’m here to serve), I asked Byredo to send me samples of their best-selling scents, and they kindly obliged. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been switching up my scent on a daily basis, because variety is the spice of life, and…

Kate Middleton Wore a ÂŁ20 Zara Jumper With 2022’s “It” Trouser Trend

January 20, 2022 at 06:03AM No one makes fast fashion look expensive quite like Kate Middleton, but after looking into the contents of the outfit she wore at her and Prince William’s first public outing of 2022, it’s clear that she’s outdone herself this time. For an official visit to the Foundling Museum in London, Middleton did what she does best—i.e., rewearing her favourite wardrobe items from affordable brands like Zara and the UK-based label Jigsaw. In addition to her sold-out blue coat from the latter brand, which she first wore in January 2020, Middleton grabbed a ÂŁ20 black turtleneck jumper from Zara and a pair of matching Jigsaw trousers that just so happen to be majorly trendy right now. The high-waisted slacks are wide-leg and slightly long, allowing them to puddle around her pumps, which are from Emmy London. The style, often referred to as puddle trousers, has become a frequent street style sighting, popping up on…

The Best Nude Lipsticks, According to 14 Beauty Experts

January 20, 2022 at 06:00AM Is there anything more satisfying than finding your nude lipstick? As a Black woman, this journey has not been smooth sailing, there has been ashiness and some rather horrible mishaps that should never be made public. Alas, I have made it and the quest to find my nude lipstick has come to an end and I can confirm, it’s a good place to be. A nude lipstick is what the little black dress is to your wardrobe—it’s a staple, a classic and always the right choice. The trick in picking a nude that works for you is ‘that we choose a shade that’s subtle but at the same time harmonises the skin'’ says Sasha Ghodstinat, Code8 Global Makeup Artist. Find a shade that works with your undertones—as a rule of thumb if you’re on the warmer end of the…

4 High-End Wardrobe Heroes That Get My Seal of Approval for 2022

January 20, 2022 at 06:00AM In the clothing category alone, there are 19,540 items on Mytheresa. Needless to say, when I was challenged with the task of picking just 16 hero items (within four categories), I felt overwhelmed. But I used all of my well-honed scrolling powers to come up with a definitive edit of wardrobe workhorses that are worth your time and attention this year.I opted for four styles that will not only serve you now while the weather is still wintery but will also adapt to the spring months with ease. I’m talking everything from homespun knits and versatile accessories to elevated jackets and souped-up skirts. Take Prada’s grey pleated midi skirt, for example, which will pair beautifully with a cashmere roll-neck and chunky boots for the rest of January and February. And come March, you can swap in a white…

TikTokers Roast Euphoria’s Nonexistent High School Dress Code

January 19, 2022 at 11:39PM Euphoria’s East Highland High School enrolled a whole new crop of students this month - on TikTok, that is. Following the HBO show’s season two premiere, fans are suiting up in outfits that poke fun at the fictional high school’s entirely nonexistent dress code, and it’s shaping up to be our favorite TikTok trend of 2022 to date. Most of the videos follow the same format: the creator comes on camera wearing something casual and unassuming, like sweatpants and a hoodie, just as we hear audio of Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants yelling, “And why aren’t you in uniform?!” They then squeakily backpedal and return in a more appropriate getup - usually something risquĂ©, cropped, and/or covered in cutouts. While most of the inspired looks flooding TikTok are purposefully exaggerated, they’re not too far from what we’ve seen Maddy…

As a Black Fashion Editor, I Have People Like André Leon Talley to Thank For My Dreams

January 19, 2022 at 10:02PM It can be difficult to mourn someone you never met, but when that person’s had a major impact on your life, their death becomes your loss, too. Though we never actually met, I first encountered AndrĂ© Leon Talley years ago on the front row of fashion’s most prestigious runway shows, seated next to none other than Anna Wintour. I had to know who the lone (and flamboyantly dressed) Black editor who accompanied the industry’s most prominent figure to these rarefied events was. Here was this boy from Durham, NC, who grew up with his grandmother during the Jim Crow era and became the highest-ranking editor in fashion history. His story filled me with hope and optimism. As a young child in Haiti, I filled notebooks with fashion sketches and wrote diary entries about my goal to make it…

We Have Questions About the New Squid Game Clothing Collab

January 19, 2022 at 10:07PM There’s a distinctive joy in reliving the excitement of a piece of media — be it a film, series or video game — in the clothing you wear. Netflix gets this, having struck fashionable partnerships with fan-favourite series like Bridgerton and Emily in Paris. Its newest is a collaboration is between Japanese streetwear clothing brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and the streamer’s most-viewed show to date, Squid Game. The dystopian series, which premiered in September 2021, follows a group of debt-ridden characters who, out of desperation, enter a seemingly harmless competition with a simple premise: play traditional children’s games for the chance to win a cash prize. But after a game of Statues, the players learn that there can only be one winner, and all those who eliminated from the game are murdered — it’s really graphic, FYI.…
