I Just Tested the New GHD Thin Wand—These Are My Thoughts

February 02, 2022 at 06:00AM Hands up if you have been scarred by a chopstick styler? The thinnest kind of wand is the most confusing tool to use because the finished result can vary from perfect loose waves to ’70s disco hair to tight coils, and the factors that lead to the end result are vast. So that’s why, when the latest GHD drop, the Thin Wand, landed in my lap ahead of its launch, I was dubious about what the finished result was going to look like on me.Last time I used a thin wand, my hair was shoulder-length and bluntly cut. The end result was a super-voluminous lob that showcased the best bit about my natural hair: the texture. Now, though still natural, I’m currently wearing my hair straight with super-long extensions, and I was interested to see just how this type of wand…

8 Mini Trends We Expect to See Everywhere This Spring

February 02, 2022 at 06:00AM This year’s ’micro trend’ cohort can broadly be divided into two camps: On the one side there’s the artisanal charm of colourful stripes and contemporary patchworking. It’s ageless, delightfully quirky, and an aesthetic that has been embraced by countless up-and-coming designers. At the other end of the spectrum, it’s all about the noughties: We’re talking graphic letter print, sultry corset tops and a generous splash of lime green. It’s an unashamed nostalgia fest that will likely have a marmite effect on the nation’s shoppers. Of course, there are a few styles that can be found in the middle-ground—think elevated denim and pearl detailing—both of which may already be sitting in your wardrobe, but just benefit from a 2022 styling update.Whatever your chosen aesthetic, we recommend using the our micro trends edit as a roll call of ideas for elevating your wardrobe basics. Just look at Helmut Lang’s letter print mesh top, which…

I’m A Maximalist but I Stuck to A Very Simple Capsule Wardrobe This January

February 02, 2022 at 06:00AM I was wearing a feathered tank, velvet flares and seven different variations of chunky rings when Who What Wear’s Hannah approached me with a challenge – to sartorially strip things back for a week, and document my journey.‘A maximalist, moi?’ I exclaimed. My partner guffawed, his eyes scanning my many shelves of bags, shoes and general frippery. ‘OK, so maybe I am partial to an accessory (or five),’ I conceded. ‘But how hard can this be?’ I simply needed to edit my wardrobe down to a few well-chosen pieces. And let’s face it; I was hardly devoid of choice. As I prepared a rail of monochrome separates, the reality of a week without colour, print or sequins dawned upon me. I eyed up my newly edited ‘capsule wardrobe’, including an oversized white shirt, cropped leather flares and a couple…

Joey King’s Latest Red Carpet Look Is a Departure From Her Usual Style

February 01, 2022 at 11:40PM Blue is definitely your color, Joey King. On Monday evening, “The Kissing Booth” actor graced the red carpet for the premiere of “Moonfall” to support her friend and director Roland Emmerich, and she did it in a sleek, head-turning monochromatic look. King posed in a flattering bustier top, high-waisted trousers, and an oversized jacket, all in the same quilted cobalt blue print from Greek fashion brand Milkwhite. Though King has recently dabbled in more mature styles, like her red checkered dress while promoting “The Kissing Booth 3” or the floral Versace look she wore for the 2020 VMAs,, this bright, bold outfit may be her most glamorous to date. Yet she - and her stylist Jared Eng - continue to stay true to her youthful style. While a very sophisticated silhouette, her blue set included little hearts embroidered…

Dove Cameron’s Corset Dress Is Like a Walking Renaissance Sculpture

February 01, 2022 at 09:35PM Vintage fashion doesn’t have to begin and end with 2000s red carpet looks or ‘90s vault pieces. Attending a virtual charity gala on Monday night, Dove Cameron recently took it way back with a corset dress that looked like a walking Renaissance sculpture. Cameron’s beige dress is by Giuseppe Di Morabito and features a skirt with a high slit practically made to be worn on a date night. Its draped silhouette also gives us the same energy as the marble creases on a Michelangelo creation. Styled by Erin Walsh, the look was completed with a Bvlgari Serpenti Viper Ring ($13,800) and a Serpenti Seduttori Necklace ($19,300) in pink gold with malachite, sapphire, and diamonds. For a final touch of romance, Cameron wore a pair of white platform sandals showing off the snake tattoo on her ankle. In photos…

Iann Dior Gets Vulnerable On His New Album

February 01, 2022 at 09:40PM As a baby millennial, the music video for Iann Dior’s “Let You,” off his new album On To Better Things, took me back to a specific moment in time: my childhood “computer room” (remember those?), where an angstier, 12-year-old me would watch Panic! at the Disco and Paramore perform on my desktop screen. It’s no surprise, then, to learn that those very artists (and others like Jay Z and Kanye) were some of Dior’s earliest inspirations. Call it emo rap, pop punk, emo pop or trap pop, the 22-year-old multi-platinum artist’s music isn’t easy to pin down. Photography courtesy of MCMIn 2019, Dior (Michael Ian Olmo) started to record songs on SoundCloud, where artists like Post Malone and Kehlani got their start. Months after he released his debut mixtape, nothings ever good enough, he put out his first…
