French Girls All Love This Spring Jacket, So I Tried On as Many as I Could Find

February 15, 2022 at 06:00AM I recently went on a weekend away through Paris and down to the South of France. Glam, I know— but, why am I telling you this? Well, when I wasn’t sipping rosĂ© and taking in the sights, I was getting seriously inspired by the fashion. Of course, it’s a widely known fact that the French dress incredibly well, and so every time I visit I prepare myself to take mental notes. This time was more useful than ever, mainly because January on the Cote D’Azur is basically like spring in the UK (think sunny days and blue skies but still a notable chill in the air). It was perfect timing, then, to get some seriously good outfit ideas for the season ahead. There were obviously some perfect denim looks, a sprinkling of bretons and some excellent wide-leg trouser pairings. But there was one particular piece…

I Just Tried on Arket’s Best Blazers, Shirts and Trousers

February 15, 2022 at 06:00AM It’s been a long time since I wrote my first ‘Joy of Shopping’ column (almost 3 years—eek) and while the world might’ve gone through more than one era-defining shift, my belief in the mood-boosting, personality-projecting power of fashion has not wavered. Throughout, I have tried to be picky with what I put my stamp of approval on, only getting behind pieces that I, myself, would genuinely wear. With this in mind, this season I decided to head down to a high-street store that I have long rated for its time-tested, high-quality tailoring: Arket. I got an Arket blazer for Christmas just over 3 years ago—one of the brand's hopsack blazers in grey check—and I was blown away by its fine wool fabric, expensive-looking silhouette and immaculate cut. I have worn in constantly ever since, and it still looks as good today as it did the first time I wore it. The fashion industry’s…

The 4 Skincare Tips That Have Helped Me Glow This Winter

February 15, 2022 at 06:00AM Hands up if your skin also gets petulant during the winter. It’s like as soon as the temperature drops and the central heating comes, on my skin feels so dehydrated and looks really washed out. Because of this I really have to up my glow-giving skincare and inject hydration back into my skin.I really focus on layering complimentary products for juicy-looking skin. Combining ingredients like vitamin c, hyaluronic acid and ceramides have been great for soothing, protecting, smoothing and enhancing glow. I’ll avoid stripping foams or gels when it comes to cleansing and reduce my level of exfoliating. All of this has helped me towards better seasonal skin and achieving a winter glow.“Moisturising is key this time of year,” says Treatwell Facialist Helen Wyre Charkham, Founder No. 23 Skin. Helen suggests opting for a thicker cream for winter but if…

These Are the 15 Beauty Products I Will Never Get Rid Of

February 15, 2022 at 06:00AM When I first moved into my flat earlier in the year, I made a promise to myself that the spare room turned office/beauty room would be nothing less than spotless at all times… of course, that didn’t happen. In between my weekly PR packages of new beauty launches which I’m extremely lucky to receive and my continued ‘I deserve it’ mindset, it’s safe to say at this point that Shrek’s swamp is probably more organised than my beauty room. But this spring, I’m determined to have my makeup and skincare products arranged in an orderly fashion. Several bin bags of old beauty products and a charity pile later and my beauty room is in much better shape. I’m finally able to separate my lipsticks from my cleansers, however my clear out made me realise that there were a few products in particular that I will…

Makeup Artists Say These 6 Moisturisers Will Age You in Reverse

February 15, 2022 at 05:00AM “Benjamin Buttoning.” Ageing backwards. Stopping time. If there’s one effect or buzzword that elicits the same visceral reaction from beauty editors, skincare experts, and customers alike, it’s anything with the term anti-ageing in it. The truth of the matter is this: There’s no miracle cream, gel, serum or treatment that has the power to actually reverse or halt the signs of ageing on the skin. (Sorry, it just doesn’t exist.) Rue’s Malcolm X Shirt Has a Symbolic Meaning

February 15, 2022 at 12:15AM Another week, another sneaky “Euphoria” Easter egg hidden among the drama. During season two’s sixth episode, Rue (Zendaya) wears an oversize Malcolm X graphic tee that fans on Twitter instantly clocked as a rare find hailing from the clothing brand Mosquitohead, but the sartorial choice isn’t just a tribute to the late civil rights leader in honor of Black History Month - it’s also a subtle callback to a past conversation Rue had with Ali (Colman Domingo). To really appreciate this full-circle moment, let’s rewind to the first of two “Euphoria” special episodes, “Trouble Don’t Last Always,” which aired in December 2020. While Rue and Ali converse over pancakes at a diner on Christmas Eve, Ali touches on Malcolm X’s personal journey to effecting social change and how America was generally more receptive to Martin Luther King Jr.’s…

The New Fall Dressing Rules, According to Christian Siriano

February 14, 2022 at 10:00PM On the concourse level of the Empire State Building on Saturday night, the anticipation was high for Christian Siriano, one of the most recognizable designers on the New York Fashion Week calendar. “What is real anymore?” the show notes read, proposing a timely question as we slowly emerge from a pandemic that has rewritten dressing codes and overhauled the fashion industry as we know it. “Some days feel like we are living in the Victorian era, while others feel like we’re living in the Matrix,” Siriano continued. His proposition? The Victorian Matrix. Models paraded in extravagant silhouettes - some wearable, some avant-garde - drenched in a classic autumnal palette of black and deep blue. There was lots of patent leather fashioned into an asymmetric dress, a power suit, a bow-front strapless midi, and even long “Bridgerton”-inspired gloves. Elsewhere,…
