My Hair Is Shedding Like Crazy, so I Asked Experts What to Do About It

March 15, 2022 at 08:00AM During the past two to three years, my hair has gone through a lot of ups and downs. In spring 2020, I noticed it was shedding a ton, which didn’t surprise me all that much since we were at the beginning of a pandemic. Then, after trying out new supplements and making a couple of healthy changes to my lifestyle, I noticed that my hair was shedding a lot less, and I had it under control. But now, the shedding seems to be at an all-time high, and I don’t know what gives! My life doesn’t feel more stressful than normal, and I’m trying to make healthier choices, but every time I take a shower, I see the clumps of hair. And when I’m vacuuming around my apartment, there seem to be strands everywhere. It’s definitely concerning, especially because…

I’m a Fashion Editor, and This Is the One Pair of Tights I Swear By

March 15, 2022 at 07:15AM The arrival of spring means it’s time to think about replenishing certain wardrobe items that see me through the next six months. There’s one thing, however, I never think to renew, and that’s my tights collection. Despite wearing them probably every other day, I always seem to settle for my years-old hosiery that looks and feels like it’s about to pop a hole every time I put it on. Shopping for tights is hardly enjoyable, right? The reality is that I live in the UK, and having a good quality pair is essential all-year round (yes, even in spring and summer). Well, I’ve tried on so many and can honestly say I think I’ve found the perfect pairs. To help us all out of our tights rut, I was tasked with finding the best that money can buy, so I road-tested…

Kate Middleton Wore the Pretty Colour That’s Trending at Zara and COS

March 15, 2022 at 07:00AM Apologies in advance for the royal pun here, but Kate Middleton is undoubtedly the queen of colour. We can probably assume that she’s following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth, who always wears bright colours so that she can be spotted in a crowd. Or maybe Middleton just likes her brights (and has brushed up on her spring/summer 2022 fashion trends via our bumper report). Either way, she’s been known to wear trendy colours right as they’re gaining steam, and that was certainly the case today at the annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey. This time, the buzzy colour trend we’re referring to (which happens to be quite pretty and flattering on everyone) is cobalt blue. It’s a hue we spotted all over the A/W 22 runways of Dion Lee, Stella McCartney, Isabel Marant, and Off-White, to name a few. And lo and behold, we couldn’t help but…

10 Timeless Items Every French Woman Has in Her Wardrobe

March 15, 2022 at 06:31AM I can trace the root of my obsession with French style all the way back to the first time I watched Beauty and the Beast. Belle might have been bored with her provincial life, but I certainly wasn’t. I begged my aunt to let me cut the hem of an old blue bridesmaid dress that resembled Belle’s own, asked my mum to style my hair in a bow every morning and insisted upon carrying a basket with me wherever I went. Today, I still find myself trying to emulate the look of French women, albeit with less taffeta involved. I trawl through vintage photographs of Paris looking at the outfits women have worn in the past, and I have an entire archive dedicated to saving images of the ensembles my favourite French influencers wear.Deciphering French style has been made easy thanks to…

I Have Type 4 Hair, and I’m Never Without These Products

March 15, 2022 at 06:30AM Let’s start with a confession: I was well into my late twenties when I had finally cracked the perfect haircare routine for my hair, products and all. Before that, it was all trial and error, and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Identifying my hair type was half the battle, the next hurdle was figuring out which products worked for natural hair. Sounds relevantly easy but with so many products available on the market, where do you start? Contrary to popular belief, type 4 hair is fragile and extremely susceptible to dehydration and breakage. Founder of haircare brand Equi Botanic, Ekwy Nnene tells me, there are two main objectives to consider when it comes to caring for type 4 hair, one keeping “hair moisturised’’ and secondly “preventing damage to ends”. Caring for my hair hasn’t been an easy feat, type hair 4 comes with…

I Don’t Trust Anything I See on TikTok, But This Concealer Really Is Magic

March 15, 2022 at 06:30AM As a cynical beauty editor, I am not ashamed to put my hands up and admit I don’t buy into half of the tripe I see on TikTok. As someone that has dedicated many clear of life to the beauty industry and has made a career out of trying to uncover beauty truths, I find it somewhat comical that crazy, viral, entirely unsubstantiated beauty intel can be taken as gospel. But do I still spend a shameful amount of time scrolling the app every single day? You better believe I do.One area of TikTok beauty that I found myself leaning into a little more than I would like to admit is that of makeup. You see, I’m the first admit that I don’t know a whole lot about makeup. I know what products I like and could give…

These Are the Only Products That Give My Thin Hair Serious Volume

March 15, 2022 at 06:14AM People often get a little bit confused when I harp on about my thin hair. “Your hair isn’t even that thin,” they say. However, it’s important to note that just because somebody has a lot of hair doesn’t mean it’s thick. My hair is long, sure, but when my lengths are overdue for a cut, they look scraggly, and my lack of actual strands becomes all too apparent. However, that’s not to say that my hair isn’t consistently thin all over. At the nape of my neck, I’d say I have an average amount of hair, but as you move your attention toward the crown of my head, you could probably count the individual hairs sprouting out of my scalp. Over the years, I’ve become somewhat self-conscious of the bald(ish) patch where my thin hair parts at the crown of…
