I Switched to Gel Skincare and My Skin Has Never Looked So Good

July 28, 2021 at 06:00AM Having combination skin can be a real minefield when it comes to picking your skincare. Should you seek out products that dial down the oiliness or alleviate the dryness? If you focus on one, will you exacerbate the other? Luckily, last winter it seemed that I finally found my skincare groove. My face was hydrated and plump, and any oiliness was under control. My technique? Light layers of serums and creams—and even nighttime oils when needed—to lock in hydration. But then spring and summer rolled around and I was back to square one. The oilier parts of my skin were getting out-of-control shiny and I found myself having to blot every couple of hours no matter what products I applied. And despite the increased oil levels, my skin also felt tight as it adjusted to a warmer climate.Honestly I felt like I just couldn’t win,…

18 Easy Outfit Ideas I’m Wearing on Rotation This Summer

July 28, 2021 at 06:06AM What is it about easy outfit ideas that are just so hard to come by? Perhaps it’s when we get swayed by trends or simply have too many options in a bursting wardrobe to think clearly (see our ways to clear out a wardrobe if you’re really struggling on this point). Either way, we all have those days where getting dressed is a chore. And summer calls for the easiest outfits to avoid a sweat-inducing panic before the day even begins to heat up. You know, the low-maintenance dresses that only require a sandal to be complete. Or the throw-on two-piece that is light, comfortable and effortlessly versatile with an accessory switch. Although these pieces need little introduction, each summer there are new recipes for success when it comes to creating the perfect look. So rather than get in…

The Classic Makeup Products That Over-50 French Women Swear By

July 28, 2021 at 06:00AM Ah, the French. Our obsession with the styleaesthetic of French women is well documented here on Who What Wear. Mainly because French women are known for their classic, effortless beauty and fashion vibes. They stick with the simple, chic things they know while remaining perfectly blasĂ© about what’s cool for now. This is especially true for French women over the age of 50—women like actress Isabelle Huppert, former French first lady and model Carla Bruni and Vogue Paris editor in chief Emmanuelle Alt, who manage to gracefully age like (pardon the clichĂ©) a fine bottle of Bordeaux. Ugh, how we aspire to the French woman’s approach to getting older
A recent conversation with Marie-Laure Fournier, president of Fournier PR + Consulting, inspired us to put together the following shopping list of the makeup products French women over 50 swear by. “A French women at 50 years old…

I’ve Analysed Everything, and These 30 High-Street Buys Look the Most Expensive

July 28, 2021 at 06:00AM How do you find expensive-looking summer buys on the high street? After working in fashion for quite some time, I have an instinct for determining what affordable pieces could pass off as designer. But there are definitely a few boxes that need ticking to ensure that they look as expensive as possible. The first thing I look at is the material. A non-man-made fibre is ideal. Cotton, lyocell and linen are always materials I look to for that more luxe-looking sheen, especially during the warmer months. The next tip is the silhouette of the piece. Does it fit with current trends that have come straight off the S/S 21 runways? If so, I tend to think it looks more designer. That said, classic items such as blazers and shirtdresses in muted tones also tend to look richer. While most of the items below are simple, elegant pieces that…

100 Years Later, We’re Still Wearing Trends From This Decade

July 28, 2021 at 05:10AM When it comes to the revolutionary power and the decadent style of Gatsby-era fashion, you can’t deny the freedom-fuelled razzle-dazzle of the 1920s. Flapper dresses with string pearls, feather boas, and cloche hats (worn without a hint of irony), Chanel’s then-radical androgynous “garçonne” silhouette
It was a time of wild abandon, empowering new cuts, shorter hemlines, and unabashed party dressing. Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, and Zelda Fitzgerald (nĂ©e Sayre) ruled the style scene, and we’re only just getting started on why this is the decade our wardrobes should be really celebrating. A century later, it might be surprising to learn that we still, perhaps without even realising it, constantly reference this decade in our wardrobes. Not only do we still wear plenty of trends created during that rebellious time (hello, LBD), but the ‘20s are also still used as inspiration…

In Case You Forgot, Jennifer Lopez Is Really Into Ben Affleck - Just Look at Her JewelryJuly 27, 2021 at 04:57PM We officially can’t stop talking about Bennifer, and how could we when the couple continues to throw one hint after another at their epic romance? But unlike the pair’s previous displays of affection that erred on the side of subtlety, most recently, Jennifer Lopez was spotted wearing a necklace that very clearly spelled out “Ben.” Just after J Lo and Ben Affleck’s PDA-filled weekend on a yacht, on July 26, the singer was seen walking around Monaco with a friend in the custom necklace, intertwined with a diamond heart necklace and other chain with a diamond. As for her outfit, Jennifer wore a simple white linen dress from Reformation, flip-flops, and a khaki fedora - truly letting her jewelry do all the…

Teyana Taylor Highlights Her Low-Rise Pants Like No One Else With This Bejeweled Chain BeltJuly 27, 2021 at 03:57PM Teyana Taylor is one of the many celebrities who’ve hopped aboard the low-rise pants trend from the early aughts. Only this time, she’s showing us a twist in leather and a crystal-encrusted chain belt. The American singer-songwriter, model, and choreographer spent a night out at Rolling Loud with her friends, including Winnie Harlow, fashion stylist EJ King, and photographer Jamie Bruce, and her outfit was made for dancing. She opted for leather slacks that skimmed her hips and put her bejeweled Agent Provocateur belt (and those abs!) on full display. Taylor’s look was complete with a Skims Fits Everybody micro crop top, chunky statement jewelry, and Bottega Veneta’s iconic Tire boots. While we couldn’t find an exact match to her trousers, Teyana’s PrettyLittleThing collection…
