2021’s Coolest High-Street Sandals Are Finally Back in Stock

August 08, 2021 at 06:02AM When we put together a story on an item that doesn't come with an accompanying line-up of influencer images, you know it’s pretty hot-off-the-press stuff. Sometimes, we just get a hunch about something and predict sell-out success, so really, we don’t want you to miss out. This week, said hero item has manifested in the most beautiful pair of sandals we’ve seen on the high street this year, and they come courtesy of Arket. No surprises there. Coming in spring/summer 2021’s most popular shoe silhouette, the cage (or fisherman) sandal, the style features thick straps, a buckle fastening and a chunky sole. It is available in both black and white. The black version sold out within 24 hours of going online, but have just come back in stock. Halfway between your favourite autumnal loafers and a classic summer slider, these cage sandals are going to be a godsend for day-to-day…

In the mornings, I don’t like to spend time thinking about what I’m wearing. COS, Mango and Arket Have So Many Expensive-Looking Bags

August 08, 2021 at 06:00AM There is nothing I love more than finding an item of clothing or accessory that looks pricer than it really is. I like to think of my ability to spot these pieces very easily as a bit of a superpower. Rather helpfully, the high street is nailing it right now when it comes to affordable but expensive-looking accessories. Three stores in particular—COS, Mango and Arket—all stock totes, clutches and crossbody bags that look way more expensive than their prices. I’d argue they even look designer. In some cases, I bet plenty would say the bags come from places such as The Row or Bottega Veneta. These are bold claims, but I honestly believe that the high street has never been better for great affordable bags.  Over the years, I’ve honed down my criteria for this specific type of bag. Generally speaking, the item should be devoid of embellishments. A…

5 Haircuts That Will Trick People Into Thinking You Have 3 Times More Hair

August 07, 2021 at 08:00AM Ever since I became aware of my hair back in high school when I finally retired my beloved slick ponytail, I’ve lamented my fine, thin locks. And after becoming a beauty editor, it’s become my mission to find out which haircuts are best for feigning the look of fuller, thicker hair. Here’s what I’ve learned: it’s all about the optical illusions your stylist creates in addition to how you care for and maintain your cut at home.“If you have fine or thin hair, the haircut you choose is super important,” explains celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson. “In general, blunter lines are always better, and if you do opt for layers, keep them minimal. Bobs, lobs, long hair that’s roughly one length, and pixies are great for this type of hair.” Oh, and avoid heavy hair products and overworking your hair at all…
