I’ve Had Dark Circles All My Life, and These Are the Only Products That Work

August 09, 2021 at 08:00AM The topic of dark circles within the beauty industry is one that has frustrated me for as long as I can remember. You see, I came into this world sporting an impressive pair of purple rings underneath my eyes. I have spent most of my life batting off concerns from people that I look tired, drained and unwell. Honestly, I’m fine. It’s just my dark circles. For many, dark circles don’t come about because of lifestyle choices. Sure, things like dehydration, lack of sleep and a poor skincare routine can worsen the situation, but for people like me, dark circles are permanent fixtures. Elizabeth Hawkes, consultant ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeon at the Cadogan Clinic, explains, “The term ‘dark circles’ is used to describe increased pigmentation of the under-eye and is a very common concern. The skin around the eye is unique. There…

9 Things to Consider Before Getting This Classic French Haircut

August 09, 2021 at 08:00AM When it comes to French style signifiers, there are some that immediately come to mind. Breton stripes is one, basket bags is another, and feline eyeliner flicks also have an undeniable je ne sais quoi about them. But when it comes to hair, there’s one style that feels more Gallic than the rest, and that’s long hair with fringe. Of course, the look isn’t just popular with the French, but there’s something about tumbling lengths offset with a sweeping fringe that feels very Parisian. Regardless of its origin, it’s a hairstyle that looks incredibly chic and is becoming increasingly popular in beauty circles. For those with long hair, going for the chop is the ultimate commitment. After all, it can take months, if not years, to grow your hair back out should a shorter style not be to your liking. Cue the fringe—a small tweak that can make all the difference in your look…

Here’s How French Girls Are Wearing the Anti–Skinny Jean Trend

August 09, 2021 at 08:00AM We here at Who What Wear like to talk in great detail (and with much passion!) about our jeans. They are one of the hardest-working items in our wardrobes, after all. We’ve already touched upon the biggest jean trends we’ll all be wearing in 2021—including ‘90s baggy styles, cross-over waistbands and, of course, with wider-leg styles coming back in general, it only makes sense that flares have returned.Yes, friends, the '70s silhouette is back, and we’ve already spotted them on a host of street style leaders (back in September last year, when Fashion Week was still happening) as well as on celebrities such as Katie Holmes. Thanks to designers such as Balmain, Victoria Beckham and Ulla Johnson, leg-lengthening flares are set to be a staple part of our wardrobes this year. And we’ve noticed that fashionable French women, in particular, have been…

I Thought I Had No Clothes, But I Own Everything I Need for These 9 Summer Looks

August 09, 2021 at 08:00AM I know firsthand that there’s nothing more annoying than being challenged after saying (or yelling) “I have nothing to wear,” but I’m sorry—I must tell you that I’m here today to do just that. But the truth is we all have countless cute pieces in our wardrobes or, at the very least, enough basics to put together outfit after outfit. What I realised can be lacking at times is the creativity or inspiration to do so.With that in mind, I went looking—on Instagram, of course—for outfit ideas that I knew could be replicated with clothes I already own, and honestly, it was pretty easy. After finding a plethora of looks, I narrowed down my nine favourites to share with you here today because, as always, I’ve got your back. To see which made the cut and, of course, shop them if you…

The Only Designer Bags You’ll Need to Know in 2021

August 09, 2021 at 06:30AM Distinctly at odds with our voracious buying of tracksuits, puffer coats, pyjamas, track-soled boots and house dresses, the past year has also seen a sharp increase in the volume of über-luxurious designer and heritage handbags that style-conscious consumers are investing in. It was an unexpected result considering handbags have been of little to no use for so many people of late, but the message from high-fashion stores is that shoppers have used this time to finally take the plunge and pick up their “forever” bags.Where contemporary handbag brands had previously been flourishing thanks to their cool trend-led designs at equally cool mid-ranging price points, 2020 led many to really think about purchasing even more sensibly in order to secure items that will stand the test of time—maybe the pieces they’re going for already have. We've witnessed a return to the classics just within our own wardrobes,…

21 Magical Wedding Dresses Made for Autumn Brides

August 09, 2021 at 06:20AM What makes a wedding dress suitable for autumn is ultimately down to your personal preference and what your overall wedding day looks like. Although I was an August bride, my wedding took place in my Scottish coastal hometown, so, erring on the side of caution, I chose a fitted dress to minimise the chill. Though it was sleeveless, I was prepared for what the enviable chilly downpour that ensued, thanks to a beautiful, ecru leather jacket I bought on a whim up just the week before. And I’m so glad I did, as I barely took to off.I don’t think a bride should let the elements determine what they should wear on her wedding day—I’ve had friends get married on snowy December days in strapless goes that still look the beautiful part—but the season is something worth bearing in…

Bravo, M&S—22 Autumn Buys That Just Can’t Be Beaten

August 09, 2021 at 06:10AM Of all the high street brands out there, Marks & Spencer is one I always like to keep my eye on; its past few collections have been so impressive, I’m constantly telling myself it can’t be bettered. However, as soon as the latest drop lands on-site, I find myself eating my worlds—M&S keeps getting chicer and chicer.Though I’d previously make a beeline for its Autograph category, which houses the brand’s more classic, design-led pieces, but now m head is incredibly turned by its other sections—Per Una and M&S Collection. Proof that it pays to keep tabs on Marks & Spencer’s movements—you never know what you might miss otherwise.Yatri wears a blazer and trousers from Marks & Spencer. As autumn is well and truly on its way, I decided to do a little reconnaissance and see what M&S has in store for the season ahead.…
