The Meaning Behind Amanda Gorman’s Royal Blue Met Gala Look Is as Beautiful as Her Dress

September 13, 2021 at 11:52PM Amanda Gorman is a vision in blue! She wowed the nation at the presidential inauguration earlier the year with her beautiful poem and gorgeous Prada coat, and she did it again at her first-ever Met Gala Monday night. Wearing a royal blue Vera Wang minidress featuring a dramatic long train adorned with little pearls, as well as matching Stuart Weitzman sandals, the newcomer dazzled on the red carpet. And while Amanda certainly looked incredible, the meaning behind her look is even more beautiful - the dress is inspired by the Statue of Liberty, as is her blue book-shaped clutch. Upon closer viewing, the front of her purse reads “Give us your tired,” which is a nod to “The New Colossus” poem on display inside the landmark. See the 23-year-old poet, who’s co-chairing the event alongside TimothĂ©e Chalamet, Billie…

How Emma Chamberlain Decided Between 2 Louis Vuitton Dresses For Her First Met Gala

September 13, 2021 at 10:37PM “Honestly, the past few weeks have been so crazy that I didn’t even know there was a vegan menu,” Emma Chamberlain laughed, anticipating her first-ever appearance at the Met Gala. “That’s how you know I need to slow down and get excited, you know what I mean?” Emma spoke to POPSUGAR days before fashion’s biggest night, and now here she is, reveling in it like she’s done this pink carpet thing a thousand times before. The YouTube connoisseur and entrepreneur with nearly 14 million Instagram followers already has brand campaigns under her belt and a solid relationship with the Louis Vuitton fashion house since 2019. It’s no surprise designer Nicolas GhesquiĂšre customized her this high-low creation - along with drafting out two potential sketches - to cater to her taste. “I knew that I wanted something more open…

Menswear Ruled the 2021 VMAs Red Carpet

September 13, 2021 at 06:23PM Feathers, sequins, leather, velvet, tartan, lamĂ©, tulle, pastels, capes, you name it — everything was on display on the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, the VMAs, red carpet on Sunday night. Fresh off the premiere of Amazon Prime’s Cinderella, Camila Cabello dressed the part in a red and pink Alexis Mabille gown. Kacey Musgraves made her best avant-garde Muppet impression in Valentino couture. Even Avril Lavigne had a surprise appearance in a pink plaid look straight from the early 2000s. While the women undoubtedly dressed to impress, it was the men, however, who sent shockwaves across the 2021 VMAs red carpet. Shawn Mendes was white-hot in a slouchy suit from Mans Concept Menswear. Machine Gun Kelly dazzled in a sequinned outfit by Dolce & Gabbana. Billy Porter looked like the most fashionable astronaut alive in an all-silver look.…

Chromat Shows Swimwear For Trans, Nonbinary, and Queer People on a Feel-Good Runway at the Beach

September 13, 2021 at 05:46PM Bodywear label Chromat has been known for showcasing inclusivity on the runway for years. Designer Becca McCharen-Tran counts curve model Denise Bidot opening the brand’s spring 2015 runway and a pregnant Mela Murder voguing down the spring 2017 catwalk as two particularly memorable milestones. But the genderless line of all-red swimwear designed for #ChromatBABES embracing Collective Opulence Celebrating Kindred has brought about an especially feel-good moment this Fashion Week season. Chromat teamed up with filmmaker and artist Tourmaline to host a party at LGBTQ+ renowned The People’s Beach at Jacob Riis Park in Queens, and what resulted was a day where all models and showgoers (fully vaccinated) could feel unapologetically like themselves. “People have been looking for places to replenish with community, seeking solace and serenity at the beach.” The swimwear incorporates skirts, monokinis, shorts, and bottoms with…

Bretman Rock Looked Next Freakin’ Level in This Vintage Dress Aaliyah Wore to the 2000 VMAs

September 13, 2021 at 04:48PM The word “iconic” tends to be a smidge overused as a descriptor these days, but when I say Bretman Rock looked iconic at the 2021 MTV VMAs, I really mean it. The social media superstar rolled up to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn wearing a vintage Roberto Cavalli dress, but not just any vintage Roberto Cavalli dress - it was the exact same animal-print number Aaliyah wore while winning best female music video of the year at the 2000 VMAs. Celebrity stylist Brian Meller helped Bretman piece together the stunning homage to the late “One in a Million” singer, and whew, did they do it justice. With a cowl neckline and fuzz-lined leg slit, the yellow zebra-print dress coordinated flawlessly with Bretman’s thigh-high patent leather YSL boots and gold hoop earrings. While posting red carpet snaps of his…
