These 7 Autumn Trends Look So Much Better Second-Hand

September 14, 2021 at 06:00AM If you’ve been following my Second-Hand Shopper series, you’ll know that making vintage fashion a more integrated part of the average person’s wardrobe has become a bit of a mission for me. I know this behavioural change may take a while to shift, but if I can make just one person who was previously ambivalent about pre-loved clothing buy second-hand, then I consider my mission a success. This is also why every season over the last year, I have created an alternative trend report that is shopped out with vintage finds. Of course, as a publication, we try our best to integrate second-hand clothing into all our content. However, I wanted to carve out this space specifically to show that adopting more sustainable shopping habits doesn’t have to mean forgoing that joy and creative experimentation that comes with new-season…

Oh My, M&S’s Autumn Collection is Looking So Good This Year

September 14, 2021 at 06:00AM Out of all the high street stores, M&S is probably the one whose autumn/winter collection we await most eagerly. Whether it’s their long-standing penchant for a classic winter coat or talent for creating enviable knitwear, it’s an ineffable alchemy that the store brings to our cold weather wardrobes year after year. Well, we are happy to report that the 2021 collection has finally dropped, and it might just be our favourite to date. Chock-a-block with those sort of elevated basics that you actually want to wear when the mercury drops, I honestly struggled to pick my favourite buys out of the new in edit. But, eventually, I decided to stick to the pieces that I believe look far and beyond their high-street price tag and also are easily mixed and matched. So what does this look like? We’re talking flattering wide leg jeans, boxy leather jackets, colourful knits, chunky boots and…

Street Style Is Back, and These 5 Easy Trends Are Ruling Already

September 14, 2021 at 05:14AM The streets of New York City haven spoken: Autumn outfits are go! It’s been exciting to see fashion month kicking off in IRL style once more, and while the runways have wowed us (Proenza! Rodarte! Tom Ford!) it’s the scene on the sidewalks that has us reaching into the depths of our closets to rediscover some gems for the new season here in Blighty. Although the weather has been set to summer over the pond, the mood and outfit choices have shifted to autumn in subtle ways: a fabric option here, a colour there, the addition of a smart layering piece or the switching up of a silhouette. Some fashion show goers defied the heat altogether, diving headfirst into knitwear, leather, and even puffer coats—dedicated!—to the point where they were kindly providing us with inspiration for mid-winter. But considering we’re just at the…

Behold: Every Must-See Beauty Moment From 2021’s Met Gala

September 13, 2021 at 11:37PM It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, (and for a bit longer than usual): the 2021 Met Gala. It might not be the first Monday of May when fashion’s most elite typically convene (the Costume Institute’s annual affair was canceled last year and postponed to this September due to COVID-19), but better late than never, and we’re anxiously anticipating how our favorite designers, models, and Hollywood stars interpret this year’s theme, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, on the red carpet. Now, the attendees will be required to wear masks once they’re inside and the event is set to be comparably smaller and more intimate than years past, but there will still be a step and repeat happening on the iconic Met steps. And, most assuredly, lots of amazing fashion and beauty moments. Anyone who is familiar with the event will…

The Breathtaking 2021 Met Gala Looks We’ll Be Talking About for Years

September 13, 2021 at 11:05PM That’s right, the time has finally come. After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, the Met Gala is back, and believe us when we say it’s really back. While we typically find ourselves counting down the days in the lead-up to the first Monday in May, this year has us especially on our toes and not just because we’ve been missing the epic red carpet looks. The 2021 Met Gala, who’s theme is In American: A Lexicon of Fashion, will be an “intimate gala” with a guest list that skews notably Gen Z, if the night’s co-chairs Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, Naomi Osaka, and TimothĂ©e Chalamet are any indication. The looks you’re about to bear witness to feature everything from over-the-top feathers and showstopping shimmer to sultry cutouts—many of them fresh off the spring/summer 2022 runways that just wrapped up in New York. They may be all we can talk about right…

TimothĂ©e Chalamet Wore Sweats With Converse to the Met Gala, and I’m Screaming

September 14, 2021 at 12:01AM After over a year and a half of canceled events and socially distant award shows, red carpets are back and bigger than ever with the arrival of the 2021 Met Gala. While there are plenty of celebrity moments I’ve been anticipating, TimothĂ©e Chalamet—tonight, a Met Gala co-chair—is one person I was most excited to see on the red carpet. He’s already been having some iconic fashion moments alongside Zendaya to promote the upcoming movie Dune, but his solo Met Gala look certainly didn’t disappoint.Wearing a cropped Haider Ackermann jacket with a Cartier pin and brooch, Chalamet looks like he’s adhering to a white-tie dress code from the waist up. That is until you spot his slouchy white sweatpants and Converse sneakers. I thought I was over waist-up dressing and never imagined liking it on the red carpet, but Timmy has simply done…

Rihanna Has Arrived at the Met Gala, and She Sure Looks Cozy in Her Parka Gown and Beanie

September 14, 2021 at 03:51AM Leave it to Rihanna to arrive at the Met Gala after the red carpet wraps … and still make a splash. The multihyphenate and Met Gala legend showed up fashionably late in a look we can only describe as parka couture. Truly unlike anything else worn during the night, her puffy Balenciaga gown features a floor-sweeping, fluted train, as well as an exaggerated collar, all in a nylon parka material. She appropriately topped off the look with a matching black beanie, with a stunning jeweled headband peeking from underneath it. She also accessorized with Bvlgari diamond necklaces, bracelets, and an earring amounting to over 267 carats, in addition to a diamond ring from Thelma West. Rihanna posed on the Met red carpet alongside boyfriend A$AP Rocky, who also wore an oversized parka, but in a patchwork print. Get…

The 8 Best Dressed Women at the Met Gala

September 14, 2021 at 03:37AM When stars were asked to celebrate the American-themed Met Gala, they complied with the dress code - and then some. We were treated to the return of a bustling (and fully vaccinated) red carpet, rife with the kind of all-out, stop-you-in-your-tracks glamour that’s been absent for the better part of two years. On Monday night, celebrities reveled in the return of the highly anticipated Met Gala with a set of stunning looks that paid homage to the theme by celebrating American designers, American culture, and some of the country’s beloved icons, giving us all a glimpse of the America we love. Some moments were more theatrical (we’re looking at you, Lil Nas X), while others were subtler nods to America. With the range of looks taking over the red carpet, choosing favorites isn’t easy, but these eight women…
