Janaya Future Khan’s COS Collab Is at the Intersection of Fashion And Activism

October 05, 2021 at 03:31PM Clothing is more than what you wear, it’s a way to express yourself artistically, says activist Janaya Future Khan. It involves experimentation and making yourself uncomfortable. But when you find what makes you happy, you cultivate a power that becomes present in all other aspects of your life. Khan is a storyteller, among other things. As co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto and an international ambassador for the Black Lives Matter Network, they’re no stranger to hard conversations. Last year, after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the Toronto-born advocate began using their Instagram as a space to talk about complex issues. Their weekly live streams, dubbed “Sunday Sermons,” range from more personal topics like self-worth and anxiety to commentary on pop culture and political discourse. And during an undoubtedly isolating time, Khan has nurtured an online community dedicated to…

October 05, 2021 at 10:13AM At Who What Wear, we’re experts when it comes to spotting microtrends. But what is a microtrend, you say? Well, it’s the kind of detail that’s distinguished by something as small as the texture of a fabric or the placement of a button. For example, more recently we’ve given you the heads up on microtrends ranging from bouclĂ© jackets to sailor collars, but there’s another one we need to draw your attention to that’s big this season: the sweetheart neckline. For the more eagle-eyed reader, you’ll recognise that this microtrend appeared last winter too however, it continues to remain a favourite among the fashion crowd. From designer to high street, sweetheart neckline knitted pieces continue to have a very fashionable fanbase right now with influencers across the globe embracing the flattering silhouette. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing the Khaite top. We Were Sceptical About Ingestible Beauty Until We Tried This Cult Brand

October 05, 2021 at 10:22AM There’s no denying that one of the biggest trends to emerge in 2021 has been the rise of ingestible beauty products. In fact, when we asked experts at the start of the year to predict the biggest trends in the skincare space, almost all of them called out skincare supplements and products that focused on the inside as trends to watch. This really comes as no surprise. As a lot of our traditional beauty routines have been stripped-down and pared-back over the last 18 months, it makes perfect sense that ingestible beauty supplements that promise plump, radiant skin and stronger hair are growing in popularity. So when we heard that Vida Glow—a market leader in ingestible beauty and the number one global marine collagen brand—was launching in the UK, we were understandably intrigued. Formulated to firm skin, thicken hair, strengthen nails and…

The 7 Best Shoes to Wear With Wide-Leg Trousers

October 05, 2021 at 08:00AM When it comes to outfit styling, few events provide as much inspiration as fashion week. Bringing together the fashion world’s most stylish individuals, these events act as a one-stop shop for outfit ideas and styling inspo. With autumn on the horizon, I’ve been thinking about the season’s staples and pondering the best trouser-and-shoe pairings. Wide-leg trousers have always illuded me as they seem to be a particularly difficult item to pair with footwear. (Evidently, I’m not alone. We’ve recently seen an increase in searches of the phrase, “shoes to wear with wide-leg trousers.”)Luckily, the street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week offered up plenty of inspiration on this exact topic and was a veritable masterclass in how to style wide-leg trousers. Whether you’re looking to style flared jeans, wide-leg leather pants or traditional suit trousers, CPHFW had a footwear option for every…

21 Magical Wedding Dresses Made for Autumn Brides

October 05, 2021 at 08:00AM What makes a wedding dress suitable for autumn is ultimately down to your personal preference and what your overall wedding day looks like. Although I was an August bride, my wedding took place in my Scottish coastal hometown, so, erring on the side of caution, I chose a fitted dress to minimise the chill. Though it was sleeveless, I was prepared for what the enviable chilly downpour that ensued thanks to a beautiful, ecru leather jacket I bought on a whim just the week before. And I’m so glad I did, as I barely took to it off.I don’t think a bride should let the elements determine what they wear on their wedding day. I’ve had friends get married on snowy December days in strapless gowns that still look the beautiful part, but the season is something worth bearing in mind…

5 Hair Colours That Don’t Do Thin Hair Any Favours—and 5 That Absolutely Do

October 05, 2021 at 08:00AM It seems like no matter our given hair, most of us spend way too much of our time wishing for something else. Those with curly hair will go to great lengths to straighten it, just as natural brunettes will spend hours in colourists’ chairs trying to achieve the perfect blonde. And while everyone has the right to express themselves through the haircut, colour, or style of their choosing, education around best practices for one’s own hair could be the difference between hating what grows out of our heads and loving it. According to Erica Conan, ColorProof director of education, this is especially true when it comes to picking the best hair colours for thin hair. While those with thin hair have been convinced for years that ultra-light colours are the only ones that work for this hair type, this veteran stylist disagrees. “Colour preservation is key…
