7 Outfit Pairings That Will Make Your Old Clothes Feel New Again

November 07, 2021 at 08:00AM As the new season rolls around, it can be tempting to start eyeing up the new-in pieces that are dropping in-store, and while there are occasions when a purchase is required, we tend to find that that sense of “newness” can be re-created with pieces that are already sitting in your wardrobe. It’s all about styling. Personally, I love browsing both the latest street style snaps and runway looks to gather ideas for the coming months. Typically, these sources are rich with inspiration and cutting-edge ways to work even the most timeless items of clothing. For me, both the Celine and COS A/W 21 shows were gold mines for easy yet undeniably fresh outfit pairings. Think bomber jackets and midi skirts, slip dresses and oversized blazers, miniskirts and chunky boots. Deceptively simple yet they all have that particular 2021 brand of je ne sais quoi that makes you fall in love with fashion all…

French Women Were Right All Along: This Is the Best Dress Trend Ever

November 07, 2021 at 08:00AM The knitted dress trend has come back in a seriously big way in 2021. You might not have realised this because in many ways it’s the kind of frock that never really goes out of fashion. However, there’s one key component of this year’s style that French women have been wearing forever. When it comes to knitted dresses in France, les françaises are more likely to opt for a fitted version. No saggy, loose-fitting sacks for our friends across the channel—thank you very much. Instead, it’s about considered knitwear that is more body-con and has some kind of structure. Case in point: Khaite’s chic black version which I spotted on Camille Charrière some time ago. The sweetheart neckline is what really makes this dress sing, but I love the demure nature of the long sleeves, too. This season, the brand has brought…

Top Hairstylists Have Spoken—These Are the Best Cuts for Every Face Shape

November 07, 2021 at 08:00AM Within the ever-colliding stratospheres of fashion and beauty, “rules” have become a bit passĂ©, if not obsolete altogether. Gone are the days when we’d refuse to wear white after Labor Day or dismiss navy and black as an ill-conceived colour pairing. Currently, we feel inspired to dye our hair a demurely shocking shade of lavender. A hot-pink eyelid is cooler than yesteryear’s smoked-out cat eye, and we’re even experimenting with crystal-studded manicures and cute-but-clashing polish shades. Our point? It’s an exciting time to be in fashion and beauty, and more so than ever before, our hair, makeup and fashion aesthetic reflect that.Hair, especially, has been the comeback kid of 2021. Previously old-fashioned styles like the mullet have been artistically resurrected, and we currently own more scrunchies, hair claws and butterfly clips than we did circa 1999. Impressive. That said, one…

15 Volumising Sprays That Make Even the Thinnest Hair Look So Much Thicker

November 07, 2021 at 08:00AM One of the most important parts of my job as a beauty editor is to work out which topics will resonate most with our readers and to find the answers to the questions that people are searching for most at any given moment. And while those areas of interest definitely fluctuate, depending on what season we’re in or which beauty products are currently going viral on TikTok, there’s one beauty concern that seems to be pretty universal amongst Who What Wear readers—how to get thicker-looking hair. Yes, from the best hair colours for thin hair to the hairstyles that give your hair more volume, it appears that bulking up the appearance of thin hair is top of many of our hair wish lists for 2021. I’ve spoken previously about how thin hair was never really an issue for me until I experienced post-partum hair loss (prior to that, you were much more likely to find me…

We’ll All Be Dyeing Our Hair These 5 Colours for Autumn, According to Stylists

November 07, 2021 at 08:00AM It isn’t just a change in season that autumn’s arrival marks—it’s a change in mindset too. For me, when it comes to beauty, the shift from summer to cooler climes has me instantly drifting towards hibernation mode and that means focusing on a more nourishing skincare routine (cleansing balms and hair masks are my current beauty BFFs), and embracing deeper hues in my makeup bag in the form of classic berry-toned lipsticks and grungier nail colours. When it comes to hair, though, along with the inevitable turn to the dark side, celebs and fashion girls have been stepping out in a spectrum of fresh colours for autumn 2021. My go-to hair salon, Muse of London, is taking inspiration from the kitchen cupboard with a spice rack-inspired menu of hair colours for autumn, from turmeric to paprika. While editorially we are…

No One Believes I Found This Cool ÂŁ13 Top From Marks and Spencer

November 07, 2021 at 08:00AM What is behind our continued obsession with tie-dye? And when I say “our,” I mean everyone, not just the fashion crowd. While the trend might have exploded on the runways a few seasons ago (Dior, Proenza Schouler and Versace, to name a few), it wasn’t until we hit the first lockdown that the trend suddenly became the print du jour, with online global shopping platform Lyst reporting a huge increase in searches for the print last year. I think part of its appeal is to do with its roots—most recently in ‘60s hippie culture—and as such, it’s associated with a more laid-back lifestyle. In a world where anxiety is, understandably, at an all-time high, tie-dye gives the impression of being more chilled out even when you probably aren’t. Personally, my motivation for wearing tie-dye is somewhere in between the above reasons. I…
