Whitney Lichty Celebrates the Beauty of Grey Hair

November 17, 2021 at 05:32PM Since Whitney Lichty decided to go grey, she has received more compliments from complete strangers on the internet than from close friends. “I don’t get a ton of positive comments in real life,” she says. “Recently, though, I was with my husband when a young man came up to us and said: ‘I just want to tell you your hair is beautiful. I really wish more women would grow their natural hair colour out.’ It was shocking to me and refreshing to hear.” Nearly seven years ago, Whitney Lichty began toying with the idea of not dyeing her hair (long before stars like Andie MacDowell, Jane Fonda and Tia Mowry leaned into their silvery strands). In fall 2019, she ditched the dye, and in the new year, she started documenting her grey-hair journey on her Instagram account, @silverstrandsofglitter.…

This Indigneous Advocate is Telling Her Story With Jewellery

November 17, 2021 at 02:23PM In the backyard of her childhood home, Shayla Stonechild’s grandfather, Ray Oulette, unearthed an arrowhead pendant. He would wear the treasure as a necklace for the remainder of his life, and when he passed earlier this year, the pendant was handed down to one of Stonechild’s brothers. In return, she promised her grandfather she would make another. Come March, the Indigenous advocate partnered with Edmonton-headquartered designer Paris Jewellers for a limited edition Arrowhead necklace. The collab sold out, with 100 per cent of the net proceeds (totaling more than $31,500) donated to Matriarch Movement, the nonprofit organization Stonechild founded to shift the mainstream narrative around Indigenous women. Thanks to the success of the first drop, Shayla Stonechild and Paris Jewellers have partnered once again. The new collection consists of a 21 inch sterling silver necklace ($149) and a…

091: Balancing your blood sugar and making healthy swaps with Kara Collier

091: Balancing your blood sugar and making healthy swaps with Kara CollierNovember 17, 2021 at 11:27AM New podcast up with Kara Collier, chatting about balancing blood sugar and making healthy swaps.  Hi friends! New podcast episode is up on the blog and I’m so excited for this one, because I’m chatting with the co-founder of a company that I love: Nutrisense. I first found out about Nutrisense from my friend Mia, and wanted to try it because I had some borderline high fasting glucose levels last year. She walked me through the whole process of inserting my first CGM, and I was so excited to analyze all of the data I received from Nutrisense. You can check out my full blog post here! You can also use the code GINA50 for $50 off if you want to give it a try! (Not an…

Experts Tell Me These Are the Jewellery Trends to Invest in for 2022

November 17, 2021 at 07:20AM Is it crazy to start thinking about next year? I don’t think so. I hate to break it to you, but there are less than 40 days until Christmas, which means there are only a few more days than that until 2022. Yes, I know. Anyway, the reason I’m writing about the coming New Year is that I’m thinking about new trends, particularly jewellery trends for 2022. Ever since the pandemic started and we’ve been hooked to our computers and Zoom meetings, various luxury outlets reported a rise in sales of jewellery. Specifically, people are buying fine jewellery that’s great for wearing every day. The idea being that people wanted to elevate their more casual WFH looks with chic necklaces and earrings—the Zoom-friendly options. In 2021, however, Gen Z jewellery trends started to take off. A proliferation of plasticky Y2K-inspired pieces became…

Lady Gaga Wore the Sassiest Cut-Out Dress With Heels Only She Could Walk In

November 17, 2021 at 06:35AM When promoting a fashion movie, one must dress the part, which explains why Lady Gaga, who is currently doing press for Ridley Scott’s upcoming Gucci biopic House of Gucci, has been going all out with her style choices of late. Her most recent look was especially on point, with the “Rain on Me” singer donning a chocolate-brown, flossy, cutout dress that featured an extremely high slit up the right leg. Making the look even sexier, she styled the dress—by the just-launched label Et Ochs (founded by former Cushnie et Ochs designer Michelle Ochs)—with D'Accori sky-high platform heels and gold jewelry courtesy of Alighieri. She wore the barely there look to a London screening of the film, which is out November 24. That same evening, she debuted a very different, though equally perfect ensemble that included a brown, logo-covered Gucci dress and matching cape from the Italian house’s…

15 Curly Hairstyles That Will Make You Want to Get a Fringe

November 17, 2021 at 06:30AM A decision on whether or not to get a fringe cut in isn’t something to be taken lightly. Yes fringes can be the perfect way to vamp up a tired style, but it is somewhat of a commitment, especially if you have dedicated time to growing your hair. Being fully on-board with the idea of getting a fringe before you sit down in the salon chair is, if you ask us, absolutely vital if you want to avoid any regret. And this is never truer than it is for those with curly hair. You see, getting a fringe cut into curly strands requires a little more consideration than if hair is straight. Whereas fringes on straight hair are often cut with the hair wet, curly fringes tend to be chopped when the hair is dry in order to take the curl pattern…

The 4 Winter Trends Our Editors Can’t Wait to Wear This Year

November 17, 2021 at 06:25AM It pretty much goes without saying that here at Who What Wear, we like to keep track of seasonal trends. It’s embedded right there in the job description that we know what’s current and are able to spot what’s emerging. While our day-to-day is spent analysing everything that is new and now, we have to admit that there are often seasonal trends that catch our attention more than others. Of course, we’d like to try every trend. Unfortunately, it’s not practical for our wallets or the planet to invest in everything. This is why we tend to prioritise the looks we’ll wear winter after winter, which can take some planning to make sure we consider the gaps in our wardrobes. Individually, each of our editors has a unique personal style and tends to gravitate towards different items (though, we do occasionally…

You Should Never Get Rid of These Classic Jeans—We’ve Got Proof

November 17, 2021 at 06:08AM There’s a big debate about how to wear slouchy jeans—yes, the relaxed style that dominated your teenage wares—and it goes very much like this: Should you wear heels or flats? And as for tops? Some argue that to counteract the looser fit, you should opt for something more fitted to elevate the denim to a more sophisticated look. Others say that you should embrace the slouchy style and choose a chunky knit and trainers.Much like skinny jeans, we imagine that a pair of slouchy blues are lurking in your wardrobe. But thanks to other styles getting more attention (straight legs or cropped flares, for example), perhaps they haven’t been your go-to for some time. But when you look at some recent street style pictures, we’ve noticed other fashion types haven’t been so quick to forget about them, and perhaps it’s high…

This Is How Easy It Is to Style a Gucci Belt

November 17, 2021 at 06:07AM If there’s one brand that has been inescapable over the past few years, it's Gucci. Since 2015, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, the brand has become one of the hottest fashion houses around. Thanks to Alessandro’s exciting and fresh vision, countless other designers and high-street brands have followed the “edgy grandma from the ‘70s” trend. But the real secret of the fashion house’s success lies in its accessibility. While some opt to wear the brand sunglasses to platforms, others dip a toe in with a bag or a pair of shoes. But one of the easiest ways to get the Gucci look? The now-iconic double-G belt.It has a cool but goes-with-everything-in-your-wardrobe appeal that makes it a must for both diehard fashion lovers and your mum. To keep it interesting, the brand has reimagined the GG belts in different ways—from the classic black, brown and white…
