All Hail Rihanna, National Hero of Barbados, and Her Stunning LWD

December 01, 2021 at 06:20PM Newly appointed National Hero of her homeland, Barbados, Rihanna stepped out to accept her honor on Tuesday at the Pride of Nationhood ceremony wearing the kind of outfit that’s earned her a lifetime of fashion accolades, too. The singer showed off a chic white dress and coordinating blazer by Maximilian. Putting her signature style on display, this riff on the white suit comes with a fierce pair of lace-up heels and a cool smattering of jewels, including a sparkling choker and earrings. While the palette may be understated, the silhouette, brings the drama. The exaggerated sleeves and mini hemline, coupled with the choice accessories, make this another one to add to the long list of Rihanna’s most memorable looks. Virgil Was Here: Louis Vuitton Dedicates Its Spring 2022 Show to the Late Fashion Icon

December 01, 2021 at 04:50PM Virgil Abloh is a fashion icon. After founding Off-White in 2012 and becoming Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for menswear in 2018, Abloh died from cancer on Sunday, Nov. 28, only a few days before his final show for the brand. To celebrate his life and legacy, Louis Vuitton dedicated its spring/summer 2022 collection to the late designer - including a rainbow-colored statue of Abloh, playful holograms, a star-studded front row, and 82 looks from Abloh’s previous and current collection. Hosted on Miami Beach, Louis Vuitton’s “Virgil Was Here” tribute show was attended by Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, North West, Bella Hadid, Joe Jonas, Pharrell, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Kerby Jean-Raymond, Edward Enninful, and LVMH chairman and chief executive officer Bernard Arnault. The designs were modeled by some of Abloh’s dearest friends, including rappers Kid Cudi, Offset, and Quavo, with…

I Found These Boots on Amazon, and I Refuse to Wear Anything Else This Winter

December 01, 2021 at 04:40PM Just like any cinematic romance, it was love at first sight for me and my Dr. Martens Women’s 2976 Chelsea Boot with Zips ($150). I remember our meet-cute so well: I was on a work trip before the shelter-in-place order went into effect, and a colleague was sporting the coolest boots I’ve ever seen. (They were the perfect cross between a chunky combat and a sleek Chelsea boot.) After silently fawning over them for hours, I finally asked my colleague where she bought them. “Amazon! I know, right? I was surprised, too! I’ll send you the link.” I knew that Amazon was a go-to spot for affordable fashion, but my dream pair of boots? I was sold - and it’s been sartorial bliss ever since. Laugh at my over-the-top account of buying these Dr. Martens Women’s 2976 Chelsea…

The Colourful High-Street Edit We Keep Seeing All Over Instagram

December 01, 2021 at 11:29AM It’s not often that we fall in love with a specific design detail from a collection, but this week Free People became the exception to the rule. We keep spotting the brand’s ‘Shayla’ pieces all over Instagram: Colourful creations that range from printed jumpsuits and mini dresses to button-up blouses. While they all come in a variety of prints and colourways, every design features a button-up fastening and delicate ruching up the front, creating an undeniably flattering finish. We love the Shayla jumpsuit in orange and purple on Abi Marvel, who styles it with chunky loafers, while Hannah Lou Robinson opts for the velvet mini dress in a very autumnal shade of rust red. Personally, I’m eyeing the marble-effect button-up blouse, which I think would look amazing with black trousers and heeled boots for a festive dinner party. Luckily, there are plenty more iterations where these came…

Kendall and Katie Have the Same High-Street Shoes and My Full Attention

December 01, 2021 at 11:09AM We’re at that in-between stage when summer’s most reliable shoes are well and truly redundant (so long, Tevas!) but there are days when a snug pair of boots feels a little OTT. What’s the solution? Well, just ask Kendall Jenner and Katie Holmes for autumnal fashion advice because they have both landed on the same pair of high-street flats and seem pretty pleased about it. Vagabond, in case you don’t know already, is a Swedish shoe label that specialises in trend-hitting silhouettes that influencers and celebrities gravitate towards because more often than not they’re super practical and low-key. Chunky flats—whether loafer, brogue or boot—are their signature, but it’s one particular pair, called the Cosmo 2.0, that has proven to be the biggest hit. And when you realise that this elite crowd is side-stepping their more expensive options in favour of a ÂŁ110 pair…

We Try Before You Buy: 9 Party Outfits We Can’t Wait to Wear

December 01, 2021 at 09:00AM Our We Try Before You Buy series aims to take the stress out of shopping and eliminate the number of post office visits you make each month to return failed online orders. We test new-season buys and styling ideas so you don’t have to. Here, we’re letting you know what’s actually worth investing in or styling tricks you can recreate with pieces you already own. The words ‘party dressing’ might conjure up images of sequins and sparkly fabrics, however it can be more than just magpie styling. The theme of this month’s We Try Before You Buy was an obvious choice, as our diaries are filling up with festive plans. We each opted for a party outfit that we would love to wear this December, finding pieces on the high street, from small independent brands and designer labels and borrowed from…

I’ve Lived in Paris for 8.5 Years—This Is the Dress French Women Always Wear

December 01, 2021 at 08:00AM I’m a big advocate for the capsule wardrobe—an armoire filled with cherry-picked items that, to borrow from Marie Kondo, give me only joy when wearing them. Conscious shopping is something I’ve adopted too in the past eight and a half years since moving to Paris, and it’s also incidentally something I write about in my new book, Practising Parisienne: Lifestyle Secrets From the City of Lights, which is out now. I’ve found that Parisians have a knack for picking forever pieces, are less likely to buy into fast fashion and have a penchant for vintage and pre-loved clothing that they mix in with more up-to-date styles. They have certainly inspired my own style that’s a lot less try-hard than it used to be, and I now invest in pieces that last: elevated basics that I can wear again and again,…
