Naomi Osaka just elevated the sustainable denim game. This week, the four-time Grand Slam champion announced a limited-edition denim collection with Levi’s, and not only are all four pieces made from upcycled or vintage materials, but they also honor her Japanese heritage. Naomi worked with the Levi’s team to ensure they “captured her unique mix of sporty and feminine,” and after one look at these products, you can feel Naomi’s influence in the design of all four pieces.

The collection includes a kimono, two pairs of shorts, and a bustier. The denim kimono ($380) features a dark wash denim with an obi belt. “I loved wearing kimonos when I was a kid. So, to be able to do it in denim felt really different and a bit unexpected,” Naomi said in a press release. The two pairs of shorts are different in style but equally as edgy in appearance. The lace-up shorts ($150) sit right above the knee, were repurposed from a pair of men’s jeans, and have a very cool lace-up back. The crystal fringe shorts ($250) were made using Levi’s iconic vintage 501 Shorts and have embellished crystals hanging down the leg.

“The sustainability aspect was super important to me.”

Lastly, the trucker jacket bustier ($180) was made from actual Levi’s trucker jackets, hence the pockets and buttons, and upgraded with a lace up the entire back. “The sustainability aspect was super important to me,” Naomi said. “I love that every piece in the collection has been recycled or repurposed from old stock.”

After recently posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and constantly wowing us with her red carpet style, it’s no surprise that fashion is a huge part of Naomi’s legacy. The Levi’s x Naomi Osaka collection will be available Aug. 24 in select Levi’s stores and on the Levi’s app. Check out the four sustainable and strikingly cute items ahead.
