Miley Cyrus Wears a Figure-Sculpting Cutout Bodysuit on the Cover of British Vogue

Miley Cyrus graces the cover of British Vogue’s June 2023 issue, which marks her first sit-down interview since the release of her eighth album, “Endless Summer Vacation.” The 30-year-old musician posed for iconic fashion photographer Steven Meisel in designer looks styled by editor in chief Edward Enninful, all of which appear to fall in line with her recent aesthetic – a mix of bodysuits that double as swimwear and archival minidresses from the likes of Tom Ford and YSL, curated with the help of Bradley Kenneth. On what is perhaps the most striking cover, she sports a laser-cut Alaïa bodysuit that plunges at the neckline and sculpts her figure, framing her tattoos as she is mid-dance move. A floor-length mesh jacket and caged heels, also by Alaïa, act as the finishing touch.

“I don’t want to just pull off a rack or wear clothes that can be given to just anyone.”

Interstingly, Cyrus admits that – at least in the green Prada set she wears on the alternative cover – she stepped a little outside of her comfort zone. In an accompanying “Life in Looks” video, she explains, “I was able to collaborate in the styling with Edward Enninful, who’s been a really good friend of mine for years and years. We’ve shot at so many different times of my life. He knows I don’t want to just pull off a rack or wear clothes that can be given to just anyone,” she says, continuing to hone in on the Prada cover: “There’s your comfort zone, your learning zone, and your panic zone, and I don’t like to live in panic. It was a little outside of my comfortability. I wasn’t completely in control. But it’s important to let go sometimes. I’m the boss 364 days out of the year, so if I give one day to Steven Meisel, I feel very comfortable that it’s going to create an outcome that I’m very proud of.”

Throughout the rest of the video, Cyrus also points to specific fashion moments in time that defined her career, including her walk down Marc Jacobs’s Fall 2020 runway (spoiler: she she stole the bag afterwards), and her Alaïa bodysuit selected for her latest album cover, which is a coincidental parallel to her British Vogue wardrobe. “This look is just a little too good,” she says. “This is one of those looks where, you know, I didn’t have to go this hard. But I did. I’m hanging from this pole that we have suspended in the middle of the Frank Sinatra estate while I’m wearing museum quality archival Alaïa. It’s just a little too good.”

Cyrus, who shares right off the bat that behind every fabulous look is a four hour fitting, also wears pieces from Ferragamo and Saint Laurent in the photo shoot, which you can scroll through ahead.
