Jennifer Garner and Daughter Violet Match in Black Dresses For White House State Dinner

December 02, 2022 at 05:00PM

Jennifer Garner and daughter Violet Affleck were twinning in more ways than one at the White House state dinner on Dec. 1. The mother-daughter duo arrived hand in hand to the soiree wearing black evening dresses that amplified just how much they resemble one another.

Garner chose a velvet Ralph Lauren column gown with a boat neckline, open back, and beaded trim, while 17-year-old Affleck opted for a Carolina Herrera fit-and-flare number with a midi-length skirt, v-shaped neckline, and lurex heart pattern. Although they went different directions with footwear – Garner selected black Stuart Weitzman platforms, and her daughter added a pop of color with red pointed-toe pumps – both carried black top-handle bags with metallic accents.

President Joe Biden’s first White House state dinner was a stylish, star-studded affair. As cohost, First Lady Jill Biden donned a navy lace off-the-shoulder gown that was custom made by Oscar de la Renta, a classic label that’s dressed many first ladies. Anna Wintour wore a vintage Chanel dress embellished with built-in beaded necklaces and belts, Chrissy Teigen attended alongside husband John Legend in a pink off-the-shoulder Rachel Gilbert gown, and Ariana DeBose stunned in a Tony Ward dress with a leg slit and side cutout.

Although the state dinner was Garner’s first public outing with daughter Affleck in years, it isn’t the first time the mother of three has made a fashionable appearance at the White House. Last December, the actor hosted a holiday concert in Washington DC wearing a festive green Oscar de la Renta minidress and crystal buckle pumps from Roger Vivier.

Read ahead to take a closer look at Garner and Affleck’s coordinating designer looks from head to toe.
