Jenna Ortega’s “Wednesday” Sweater Vests Are Having a Moment on TikTok

If you’re suddenly overcome with the urge to dress in all black after watching “Wednesday,” you’re not alone. The supernatural Netflix series has viewers itching to mimic Wednesday Addams’s (Jenna Ortega) dark wardrobe, with the titular character’s checkered sweater vests in particular sparking outfit envy online.
Throughout season one, Wednesday hunts down the elusive Hyde monster in several black-and-white plaid vests, including a slouchy V-neck style layered over a black turtleneck in episode seven and a slightly more oversize style featuring thick black stripes, worn with a white button-down and cropped black jacket, in episode five. Thanks to eagle-eyed outfit sleuths, we know that costume codesigner Mark Sutherland scored the first from Zara, and the second was handmade by knitwear designer Alice Morell Evans on behalf of British menswear designer John Alexander Skelton.
Seeing as Wednesday’s onscreen vests are no longer available for purchase online, some passionate “Wednesday” fans have taken it upon themselves to crochet look-alikes from scratch, with a few even sharing exact patterns to copy. TikTok and YouTube are currently flooded with videos of creators professing their love for Wednesday’s style while crocheting their copycat knitwear. Talk about dedication.
