At Who What Wear, we’re major Bridgerton and fragrance fans. And as season two arrives (anyone else binged it already?) the office soon got chatting about the leading ladies of Bridgerton and what fragrance they would be.

With the arrival of spring, we are already switching up our winter perfumes for these classic spring fragrances, and we know the scents that will bag you the most compliments so, it was only natural that we cast our noses to what the Bridgerton characters might wear as they navigate the soirees and scandals of the 1800s.

With that in mind, you are cordially invited to read on to find out what fragrances the ladies of the ton might spritz…

Daphne radiates an understated elegance. During her numerous social engagements, her fragrance would whisper rather than shout to the suitors of the ballroom. Jo Malone’s delicate Wild Bluebell would be perfect fit for the eldest Bridgerton daughter. With refreshing notes of dewy bluebell and lily of the valley, this is a refreshing floral that has diamond of the first water written all over it. It is also a perfect pairing to the family’s signature Bridgerton blue wardrobe too.

New on the scene for season two, we are still getting to know new the leading lady, but rumour has it that she is captivating yet headstrong. We can expect her to hold her own while charming the suitors and navigating herself and younger sister Edwina through matchmaking. Penhaligon’s The Revenge of Lady Blanche might be her scent of choice. With fresh florals hyacinth and daffodil, the initial spritz is beautiful before settling into a confident sandalwood and orris base.

If you are yet to catch up on season one – beware of spoilers ahead! While her family’s loud wardrobe may have you believe she might wear an equally vibrant  fragrance to match, she is shy, warm – and let us not forget, she’s Lady Whistledown after all. Inspired by the sweet scent of leatherbound books, Byredo’s Bibliothèque is a nod to her studious and secretive side as she pens the society papers. The top notes of sweet plum subside to reveal a warm woody base that is understated, but mirror Penelope’s sweet, kind and yet secretive nature.

Beautiful, elegant and poised – I have Marina down as Diptyque kind of girl. Do Son’s creamy florals of orange blossom, jasmine, and tuberose bloom before settling down to a warming amber base, making it a sophisticated yet fresh scent for this debutante. It is the ultimate springtime floral that is bound to turn heads around the ton, and it is one of the more long-lasting fragrances among the floral fragrances out there.

This is an easy one. Frederic Malle’s Portrait of a Lady perfectly sums up her character as the tastemaker in society. Her grand appearance commands a heady yet elegant fragrance that punctuates her arrival to every occasion, and this scent has main character energy all over it. Made from no less than 400 Turkish rose flowers per 100ml bottle, this is a true rose scent that has spicy notes of clove and cinnamon that cut through – much like Queen Charlotte’s sharp tongue.

With her alluring je ne sais quoi, dressmaker madame Delacroix would wear Guerlain’s Angélique Noire. This smouldering fragrance has notes of fresh angelica flower, combined with a secretive base of opulent vanilla make this a very intriguing scent – worn by someone mysterious who has all the gossip from her noteworthy clients no doubt.
