Kate Middleton kicked off the royal Caribbean tour of Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas on March 19, and she delivered her first fashion statement at an evening reception at the ancient Mayan ruins of Cahal Pech.
Middleton chose a pink, lamé floor-length gown from The Vampire’s Wife in the brand’s light Sleeper silhouette, which comes with petal-like flutter sleeves and a softly accentuated waistline. The metallic sheen worked to highlight the sparkle of her sapphire engagement ring, and she also accessorized with an embroidered Mayan clutch. Middleton’s circular drop O’nitaa earrings were custom made in Pakistan and first debuted at the “No Time to Die” premiere last year. She finished her look with a sleek pair of silver Jimmy Choo sandals.
Just hours after Middleton stepped out in her pink lamé gown, global fashion marketplace Love The Sales reported a 288 percent spike in search for “ruffle dresses.” The site, which tracks sales data from 12 million+ shoppers across 16,000 brands, also noted a 142 percent surge in demand for “Pink Dresses” and a 34 percent jump in searches for “The Vampire’s Wife.” This isn’t Middleton’s first time wearing the London-based brand, which was founded by Susie Cave in 2014. She also wore an emerald midi dress in the same fabric for her tour of Ireland in 2020.
Before Middleton’s influential moment in The Vampire’s Wife, she spent the day exploring the Mayan site of Caracol in more casual wares. She dressed down in a white tee, skinny cargo pants by G-Star, Superga sneakers, and Ray-Ban wayfarers, proving that both her laid-back and glamorous looks are worthy of note.
