Every Oscars Red Carpet Look That Made Us Do a Double Take

March 12, 2023 at 10:05PM

The fashion on the 2023 Oscars red carpet is nothing short of impressive, as was anticipated by the list of nominees, presenters, and performers. The March 12 ceremony, which is taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, marks Hollywood’s final delivery of award season style – that is, until the Vanity Fair party later in the evening. With Rihanna performing “Lift Me Up,” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack (for which she earned her first-time nomination), we can expect memorable ensembles both on and offstage.

Other attendees who have been longtime veterans of the style spotlight include Cate Blanchett, Janelle Monáe, Halle Berry, and Kate Hudson. However, we’ll also enjoy looks from the likes of Ariana DeBose, Sofia Carson, Ana de Armas, and Stephanie Hsu, all of whom are emerging to define their unique aesthetics and are often quite experimental with trends. Ashley Graham, wearing custom Alberta Ferretti; Vanessa Hudgens in vintage Chanel; and Lilly Singh sporting a magenta Christian Siriano coat are hosting ABC’s “Countdown to the Oscars” pre-show, while Laverne Cox is holding down the outfit reporting for E! in her custom Vera Wang Haute gown. But of course, we have gathered every designer detail from the evening’s best dressed in one place for your scrolling pleasure.

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, it’s important to note that the 95th annual Academy Awards have already sparked criticism, as many Black actors and directors were snubbed, with only Angela Bassett and Brian Tyree Henry receiving nominations for their roles in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and “Causeway,” respectively. Women directors were also completely shut out of the best director category. That being said, we hope to see a wide range of designer representation from the crowd at large, when it comes to the fashion.

Scroll to see whose outfit delivered, and don’t forget to check out POPSUGAR’s printable ballot, along with the best hair and makeup looks on the red carpet that can always be trusted to come up big on glamour.
