I Turned 41 This Month, so I Had a Thread Lift—Here’s Why I Recommend It

July 31, 2021 at 08:00AM First of all, let me speak about the elephant in the room. At age 41, I am still young and have healthy skin (thanks to a stringent routine of cleansing, toning, treating, moisturising and sunscreening since age 14), and quite honestly, I feel better in my skin than I ever have. But there’s no denying the collagen depletion and bone loss that comes with age. Yes, that’s right. Apparently, bone mass peaks around ages 25–30 years and declines gradually thereafter in both men and women. Yay!  This is why I started having fillers at around age 37. (You can read my previous articles where I wax lyrical about liquid facials and lip fillers.) Now that I’m entering my 40s, I wanted to try something that didn’t just fill the depleted areas but that actually helped my own body generate its own collagen over time.…

That’s right—nature is healing, and the Earth is returning to its natural state. With all things summer on the brain, we can’t stop thinking about all the stunning swimwear trends that are hitting the market right now, and based on the Instagram feeds on our favourite A-listers, neither can they. Dermatologists and Celebrities Swear By This Affordable Skincare Brand

July 31, 2021 at 08:00AM Skincare can be really expensive. In fact, I’m kind of fed up of tip-toeing around the fact that in so many cases, we’re all being painfully overcharged for certain skincare products. Brands know all too well the price that we’re willing to pay for great skin, and they’re not afraid to take advantage of it. However, as our skincare priorities have shifted, not only are brands charging obscene amounts of money for efficacious products, but they’re also driving up prices on products that look more aesthetically pleasing. As a result of this, it’s safe to say that when it comes to skincare, price does not always reflect quality. So when a no-frills product range comes along that doesn’t have a gimmicky name, doesn’t come housed in Instagram-worthy bottles and generally lacks fancies, it can be very easy for it…

5 Hair Colours That Don’t Do Thin Hair Any Favours—and 5 That Absolutely Do

July 31, 2021 at 08:00AM It seems like no matter our given hair, most of us spend way too much of our time wishing for something else. Those with curly hair will go to great lengths to straighten it, just as natural brunettes will spend hours in colourists’ chairs trying to achieve the perfect blonde. And while everyone has the right to express themselves through the haircut, colour, or style of their choosing, education around best practices for one’s own hair could be the difference between hating what grows out of our heads and loving it. According to Erica Conan, ColorProof director of education, this is especially true when it comes to picking the best hair colours for thin hair. While those with thin hair have been convinced for years that ultra-light colours are the only ones that work for this hair type, this veteran stylist disagrees. “Colour preservation is key…

Another Day, Another Simple ZoĂ« Kravitz Outfit I Just Can’t Fault

July 31, 2021 at 07:05AM We all know ZoĂ« Kravitz is cool, and that her coolness was inevitable before she was but a twinkle in her parents’ eyes. With bohemian actress and goddess Lisa Bonet as her mother and rock legend Lenny Kravitz as her father, it was already written in genetic code/the stars that her style would be effortless, her beauty unmatched, her skills infinite and her wardrobe impeccable. It’s not fair for the rest of us to be dealt this card, of course, but it does still mean that we have a fashion icon to go in the history books and provide us with some pretty great casual ensembles along the way. Recently, ZoĂ« has been hitting the streets of NYC looking particularly great, approaching her hot-weather ensembles with a laid-back attitude and using the kind of pared-back pieces we actually all have in…

Well Done, H&M—I Want Everything From Your Latest Drop

July 31, 2021 at 07:00AM I love a good bit of minimalism in the summer. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not averse to bright colours, but there’s something so chic about wearing muted tones in the heat. This year, as I won’t be heading overseas or to anywhere that actually has hot weather (thanks, British summer), I want to pretend I’ll be on the beaches of Ibiza or the Cote d'Azur, and H&M’s latest summer collection is going to help me do just that. Full of floaty dresses and loose-fitting tops, I plan on wearing these items from now until September. But I’m not a total lunatic, so I’m also eyeing up the slub-knit tops and the chic tailored blazers because as AndrĂ© 3000 says, “You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can’t predict the weather.” For anyone who’s lost with their summer wardrobe, I…

11 Italian Brands Every Fashion Person Wants In Their Wardrobe

July 31, 2021 at 06:05AM Paris tends to command a lot of attention in the fashion world. Given the fact that it’s the birthplace of couture, that should come as no surprise. Still, while we love the varied French aesthetic and, of course, cherish our homegrown British talent (of which there is an impressive amount), we’re of the opinion that some of the most exciting brands and designers—both classic and contemporary—hail from Italy.Lucy wears a pink knitted tank top with embellished neckline from Miu Miu.When it comes to pushing sartorial boundaries, no one does so quite like Italian fashion brands. You need only think of the powerhouses—Prada, Miu Miu, Fendi, and so on—and their standout collections instantly come to mind. Ask me what I remember seeing on the New York runways in February 2017, and, honestly, I couldn’t tell you anything off-hand. But Gucci’s Milan…

If You Like The Row, You Have to See This New Minimalist Brand

July 31, 2021 at 06:00AM In an age of look-at-me logos and eye-watering maximalism, you wouldn’t necessarily spot a Caes design if you were scrolling through your Instagram feed. Pared-back, with a focus on elevated basics, the brand invokes the sort of clean-lined minimalism that was prevalent in the ‘90s and recently revived in the collections of contemporary designer brands, such as The Row. Yet, far from being another label jumping on the minimalist bandwagon, Caes has entered the market with a distinctive identity and fully-formed aesthetic. Launched by Helen de Kluiver in 2019, longevity is at the heart of everything that Caes does. Yes, the brand's designs may fall under the 'basics’ category, but with its luxe fabrics and striking silhouettes, these pieces are more than deserving of the spotlight. We’re talking oversized shirting, ribbed bodysuits, knitted dresses, tank tops and leather trousers. The brand was picked up by Net-a-Porter soon after its launch (a signifier of future success if I ever saw one) and…
