Cardi B Stops New York Traffic in a Vibrant Hip-Cutout Gown

Cardi B got all glammed up for a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.” Ahead of her anticipated MTV VMAs performance, the rapper and mom of two stopped by the late-night show on Sept. 11 to chat about her upcoming album, reflect on past fashion choices, and share laughs with Andy Cohen. She wore a show-stopping aqua blue gown for the occasion, quite literally turning heads in the streets of NYC outside of the Bravo studios. While Cardi certainly looked fabulous, it’s truly a sight to see her couture dress and red carpet poses against the backdrop of a bike lane and scaffolding in Manhattan.
The intricate bodycon dress featured several unique elements, including rope detailing, cutouts at the hip and waist, and a ruched skirt. Working with her usual stylist Kollin Carter, she accessorized with silver diamond earrings, a studded bangle bracelet, and sky-high platform heels to match. Big, bouncy curls and a shimmery blue manicure completed her vibrant look.
We haven’t seen Cardi in a high-fashion ensemble since her trip to Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week earlier this summer. She was one of the most notable standouts in attendance, wearing one surprising couture look after another. She kicked off the week in an opulent lace-up gown at the Schiaparelli show, and kept the momentum going in a Jean Paul Gaultier catsuit, a giant feather cape from Balenciaga, and a sculptural head piece for Thom Browne.
Cardi is coming on the heels of her “Bongos” release with Megan Thee Stallion. The rappers debuted their music video for the single on Sept. 8, showing off a series of sultry swimwear moments throughout the visual. Given the duo are expected to perform their new hit at the VMAs on Sept. 12, we can only imagine what striking looks they’ll dream up for the stage.
