Is there any style era Billie Eilish can’t conquer? The young star is continuing her nostalgic style streak, this time in another Instagram photo dump. On Saturday, May 27, she took to the popular media platform to recap the month, which brought news of her unexpected breakup with Jesse Rutherford. She posted a number of casual looks, including a red-and-white jersey; a white high-waisted underwear layered over sheer biker shorts; as well as black fishnet stockings and black-and-white socks to match. Eilish then finished the outfit with what appears to be red-and-white, high-top Converse sneakers, an array of silver goth necklaces, and a snapback worn backwards.
The 21-year-old singer is no stranger to throwback trends. Most recently, in May 2023, she channeled ‘90s fashion in a similar outfit dump, wearing a leopard bra and a black pleated miniskirt over grey baggy jeans, nodding to the grunge aesthetic. Earlier that same month, she shared a 2000s-inspired throwback look on Instagram, which consisted of a cropped angel graphic tee and low-rise jeans woven with a rainbow belt. And back in January, she posed in a ’90s-style black lace bra-and-slip dress combo for a sultry photo shoot.
She’s just as referential with her red carpet looks. At the 2023 Met Gala, Eilish wore a black lace Simone Rocha gown that felt straight out of the ’90s, posing on the famed stairs alongside her brother, Finneas.
That’s not to say the “Swarm” actress isn’t a fan of modern-day trends. In April 2023, she embraced the soft-girl aesthetic with a Yuhan Wang floral-embellished dress for a backyard Easter celebration with Rutherford, showing her versatility.
As Eilish continues to set her own trends, scroll up for a closer look at her latest edgy ensemble.
