Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made quite the debut at Monday night’s Met Gala! On first glance, the congresswoman appeared to be wearing a gorgeous off-the-shoulder white gown with a tulle train, but the second she turned around, we saw her iconic political statement: “Tax the Rich” plastered across the back of the dress in bright red lettering.
It’s not lost on us that AOC chose the statement Brother Vellies look for one of fashion’s most extravagant, glamorous nights. As Aurora James so perfectly said, “If you’re going to come somewhere like the Met Gala and you’re a congresswoman, you expect nothing less.” Ocasio-Cortez completed the outfit with red heels with flowers, as well as a matching “tax the rich” bag.
