I’ve Found My Perfect Christmas Dress (and It’s From Marks and Spencer)

Some might say there’s no such thing as the perfect dress and that you’re always sacrificing on something—perhaps the colour or the fabric choice. I know I’m fussy when it comes to choosing my own frocks, too. What can I say? I have high expectations. But even I’m having a hard time picking fault with Marks and Spencer’s latest dress offering. I’m going to make a bold claim: This just might be the best dress I’ve seen this season, if not this entire year.

Part of M&S’s ongoing collaboration with Ghost, the dresses born out of this partnership were always going to pique my interest. I already own a handful of Ghost dresses, and they’re some of my favourites in my wardrobe. Coupled with the fact that M&S is one of my go-to high-street shopping destinations, we’re already off to a strong start. However, its newest collection is, in my opinion, the strongest yet. Populated with party-ready pieces, all in easy-to-wear silhouettes, it’s little wonder that they’ve begun cropping up on the feeds of stylish Instagram dressers. For me, however, the standout has to be a beautiful satin midi dress in a stunning ochre-come-olive-green shade.

The dress, which Francesca Saffari has already (and cleverly!) snapped up, features every key component that I look for in a dress. Boasting a midi-length hem, a nipped-in waist, a high neckline, puff sleeves, a gorgeous colour, and a sublime satin material, put simply, this is the perfect dress for Christmas and New Year. But that’s not to say that its charm will fade at the stroke of midnight on December 31. From styling it with headbands and heels for weddings to dressing it down with chunky boots and a shacket for weekend brunches, I have big plans for this M&S dress in 2022.

If you think there’s a place for it in your future, too, follow the link to shop it below before it sells out. Then, continue on to see the other excellent dresses M&S has up its sleeve this season.

Another excellent colour.

I’ve seen this in real life, and it’s absolutely beautiful.

Try switching out the heels for some chunky boots.

Did someone say “sparkle”?

Such a lovely print.

M&S has got the pink-trend memo this season.

Just add sparkly heels.

I’ve had my eye on this dress for so long.

Tick off 2022’s Pantone Colour of the Year with this periwinkle dress.

A grown-up take on metallics.

Star prints never fail to feel festive.

Leopard print came back in a big way this year.

A velvet dress is always a good idea.

This will look so fresh for spring 2022.

A floral print I don’t feel like I’ve seen over and over.
