If 2020 was the year of tracksuits, 2021 was the year of the knitted dress. Which feels like a natural progression, when you think about it. The jumper-dress was a way for us to feel put-together without losing that comfort factor we’d grown so used to; a way for us to cautiously reacquaint ourselves with our sense of style. Some of us were already fans and got the chance to show off our old favourites, while some of us have only recently discovered the joys of this chic but cosy piece.

The same approach was taken to shoes— 2020 called for slippers but 2021 gave us opportunities to bring out those boots again, especially for all those walks. It was fateful, then, that the jumper-dress-and-boot combo became one of the fashion world’s most popular outfits. Everyone from celebs and influencers to editors embraced this easy outfit choice and started to explore the different variations on the trend. It may sound like a super simple pairing, but it turns out there are so many options out there that it’s far from boring.

Well, as 2022 dawns we’re here to bring you some good news. the jumper-dress-and-boots combo isn’t going anywhere *sighs with relief*. With knit dresses still ubiquitous in the SS22 collections it’s clear this trend has serious legs. For inspiration, I’ve started  saving my favourite jumper-dress–and-boots outfits on Instagram and below I’ve listed 6 special ones that are easy-to-copy. There’s a cut-out dress paired with chunky track-sole boots, a scoop-neck brown ribbed frock worn with black boots, and a striped dress that I can’t stop thinking about. Keep scrolling for the six looks you’re going to love.

Style Notes: If you want a sassier take on the jumper dress, opt for a cut-out version as seen here. Toughen it up with chunky black boots.

Style Notes: Make your outfit look polished by matching your boots with a belt bag.

Style Notes: Elegant dressers will love this option of a jumper dress and boots.

Style Notes: Another sassy take on the jumper dress, go for a lower neckline but pair with flat boots so you can still go for those walks.

Style Notes: Go for contrast with a black jumper dress worn with white boots.

Style Notes: Perhaps my favourite look of all is this striped dress worn with a leather blazer and black boots. Perfect.
